quaker oats is disgusting and I will go out of my way to never eat anything made by them again. they kept at least one factory so disgusting that when the FDA said Hey you need to actually follow health regulations (in response to a MASSIVE fucking recall due to contamination that made a ton of people sick, and anecdotally myself and several people I know got sick from food that was NOT recalled) they said actually it would be too hard to follow health regulations and SHUT THE FACTORY DOWN INSTEAD

AND THEY TARGET SO MANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS AT CHILDREN

I had a dream that opened immediately to me sitting on the edge of an indoor, hotel swimming pool. I was in a bathing suit with my feet dangling in the water. I knew right away that this was a dream, and I thought to myself that it was a pleasant one, because I love hotel pools so much. I love when they're so warm and accompanied by a hot tub as well that the entire room is steamy. I love when there are big windows so you can see winter outside. I love the children making friends and inventing intricate games in the water with strange children they'll never see again. I was enjoying all of that, when a woman appeared beside me, sitting with her feet in the water.

It was as if she blipped into existence, but it also felt that perhaps she was there before, and I hadn't noticed her. We both took a moment to look startled, and then we said hello. She looked like she was in her 60s or 70s. I started on small talk, and then she calmly and politely told me that she believed she was dying. I didn't know what to say. I said, "Oh. Are you sick?"

She said, "No. Right now. I think I'm dying right now."

She pointed across the swimming pool, and sure enough, she was there too, lying on the ground while someone performed CPR on her. Everyone was silent. The children stood in the pool and watched, ignoring their parents frantic, silent waving to come out.

The woman told me that the young woman and man beside her were her adult children. The children behind them were her grandchildren. Her husband was in their hotel room. I still didn't know what to say, so I asked her about her children.

She was worried about her son, who was going through a terrible divorce. She said he needed her. I told her that he would be okay. I told her about losing my dad when I was young and the way my friends and family took care of me. She was happy to hear it. She said she felt better about leaving. Then she said, "OH! I think I'm going back."

She was gone in an instant, and across the swimming pool she started vomiting water. I thought, "How nice I could keep her company during that ordeal" and "I should have asked her name so I could reach out to her." And then I woke up feeling like I didn't sleep at all.

KPOP DEMON HUNTERS (ramble)

As a metaphor for the current political climate…one that teaches that certain people are wrong for just being who they are and that they need to stay hidden and do their duty (be “good”), and where even those on their side tell them to stay quiet and cover up, lie even, to uphold a system that “works” but clearly doesn’t and is failing and coming apart at the seams because of that same repression and desire to “fix everything first” before we make any major changes to the world and let people just be people and a new generation saying “screw that I am who I am, this system sucks, and I’m creating something new” anyway…

So, like, yeah I enjoyed the movie.

(I have criticism of it too, mostly that it was too short, but I sure hope it gets a sequel (if the creators want that!))

Starting off the mlp rewrite, the four princesses. Celestia and Luna are the only alicorns, the other princesses are granted halos.

Tia and Luna are born as unicorns, alicorns are still considered a magic anomaly of the highest degree. Celestia and Luna are the only ones who have experienced alicorn transformation. Their wings are larger than the average pegasus, as they dont have pneumatic bones like they do. Their wings have to be bigger in order to get a heavier unicorn body off the ground

Twilight also starts the series as a blank flank, she gains her cutie mark upon interacting with the elements of harmony for the first time. After the mane six interact with the elements of harmony for the first time, they all gradually get extra colors on their bodies/manes. instead of randomly getting rainbow power, it evolves over time

I honestly dont have much in mind for cadance so far, but i really think she deserves more development

I read this comic (Batman #416, where Jason meets Dick for the first time) before I started this blog, so I’ve never posted about it before. But I do think about this scene All The Time, so. In case you’re wondering what Bruce’s original, honest reason is for adopting Jason and making him Robin:

He’s lonely. He’s lonely. He was stupid and pushed Dick away, and he was on the streets alone, and the manor was so empty, and he missed his son.

And I’m sure the other shit Bruce said contributed to him taking Jason in too. I’m sure he wanted to give Jason a good home, and it’s shown in the issue Jason is introduced that Bruce is having a much harder time patrolling without a Robin by his side. But truly the core of it is that he missed Dick, missed his son. So he found another little boy with black hair and blue eyes who he thought he could help, and he tried to fill the hole in his life. And when Dick came back, feeling hurt and confused and abandoned, Bruce obviously still misses him so desperately, but all he knows how to do is push his oldest son further away.

And that’s so. God. That’s so heartbreaking. It’s also shitty, and Bruce is shitty for doing this—it’s not fair to Dick or Jason—but it’s also so real. I’ve read a lot of justifications for why Bruce adopts Jason so soon after Dick leaves (or gets kicked out, depending on what comic you’re reading) but this is always the scene that sticks with me. Because this is the kind of father Bruce is, to me—not a good father, necessarily, but not a malicious one either. A man who cares for his kids so deeply but will push them away a thousand times before he figures out how to say “I love you.” It’s so human.

being abused or neglected really makes it clear how many things are skills that nobody really treats as. skills. exercising autonomy is a skill. listening to your body is a skill. resting is a skill. being liked and being loved are skills. nobody tells you how to do this shit because nobody even told me I was supposed to have learnt these things when I was a kid. I kind of just have to manually figure out what makes me freak out and work from there. unfair as shit
