Kyu looked up once more before nodding, “Yeah, a boost would work nicely.” He grabbed onto the wall, fumbling with a loose brick. He looked back at Jenna, shaking the brick slightly, “This could be an issue…”

Jenna frowned. “I guess without magic the walls are a bit weaker than I thought. Should we look for another way? The gate could be easier to climb.” It could also be rusted and brittle without magic. Would cuts and tetanus be better or worse than falling from 8 feet up?

Kyu looked up at the wall and considered it. “Yes.” He said, turning his head slightly to look at Jenna from the corner of his eye, “But let me try before you do.”

Jenna nodded slightly and looked up at the wall, trying to find possible handholds. “Do you need a boost?” She looked around for anything they could use. “Or we can stack something against the wall to help.”

“What?” Jenna asked, pausing. She looked around, trying to figure out what the other girl had been talking about. “Um, no? What did you hear?”

“I love your dress! You look like a fairy, and going short was so unique.” Emmie gushed, laughing at her suggestion. “I don’t think so. I’m not really the type to be picked and swept up.” She blushed, glad to have her mask and hair as a curtain. 

“Thank you,” Jenna beamed. That had been exactly what she was going for. “If you’re a princess, does that make me your fairy godmother?” she laughed. “Well maybe you’ll sweep someone else off their feet tonight, and you can be Prince Charming instead.”

Jenna giggled with the other girl. “You look like a princess,” she nodded. “You could be Cinderella, and find your Prince Charming tonight! But he won’t recognize you because of the mask, so he’ll go on a quest to find you.”

“I love this dress. I love it so much. Look at what happens when I spin!” Emmie giggled happily, spinning around so her skirt fanned a bit. “I feel like a princess!”

Kyu followed Jenna into the waves, not entirely comfortable but managing all the same. “Fun without a little mess is fun.” He grumbled to himself, wincing when the cold water made it up to dry skin. He tried not to grimace. “Yes, this is okay.” He made no effort to smile, but glanced back at all the people, “I suppose the beach would be a more peaceful place without people acting like idiots. If they were gone, I might see the appeal.”

Jenna laughed slightly at Kyu’s grumpy face. “It is better alone,” she nodded. “I used to head to the beach at night and lay in the sand. It’s so beautiful, with the moon reflecting off the water.” She missed living that close to the water. “I’ll take you home some day, so you can see it.” She blushed slightly as she said it, looking out at the water instead of his face.

Kyu made a face, “But if we go swimming, then not only will we be covered in sand, but we’ll be covered in salt when we dry off.” He sighed, getting out of the wretch beach chair he was in, “Fine. Anything’s better than sitting in the hot sun. Have I mentioned I’m a winter person, despite our first conversation?”

Jenna smiled and reached out to grab his hand, pulling him towards the waves. “What’s fun without a little mess?” she asked. “Good. I’m a winter person too, despite living next to the beach.” She slowed her pace, enjoying just holding hands on the beach. “This is okay, right?” she asked tentatively.

“Do we even go to the same school? Because I’m pretty sure Hogwarts’ no drinking rule never stopped anybody from actually doing that.”

“Yes, but there is a much higher chance of getting caught at school. There’s too many authority figures around to go all out like this very often.”

Jenna: Kyu, please keep an eye on Daisy today. She's gonna say something to the wrong person and get herself punched.

Kyu: Sure, I'd love to see Daisy get punched.

Jenna: Try again.

Kyu: I will...stop Daisy from getting...punched?

“...and it gets everywhere,” Jenna said, keeping a composed face for approximately five seconds before laughing. “But honestly, it’s nothing a shower can’t fix. If you don’t like the sand though, we could go swimming.”

“I hate sand. It’s course and rough and irritating…”

“That’s probably a very good point. But I could just drink water in between drinking?”

“You should do that anyways! No one wants a hangover, and the more water you drink the less likely you will have one.”

“Well if people would just drink water before they started drinking that wouldn’t be an issue.” Jackie shrugged, taking a sip of her drink despite the girl’s advice. “Or, you know, limit themselves.”

“They have to keep drinking water too. They would sweat it out really quick out here,” Jenna added. She tugged on her shirt, looking at the other girl. “No one is really looking to limit themselves today. Everyone is too scared they won’t be able to do this when they go back to school.”
