This month's cat is the Khao Manee!

The Khao Manee, which translates to White Jewel, is a breed of all-white cats native to Thailand. Also known as the Diamond Cat, they are featured in the Tamra Maew, an ancient book of Siamese Cat poems. Although a long-lived and well established breed, they were only recognized by TICA (The International Cat Association) in May 2009.

fml you guys. This chapter took twice as long to finish b/c its twice as long as normal... but because of that as well I got so burnt out by the end that I'm not even sure it's done what I want it to. I hope at least it doesn't read like being stuck in an endless meeting. I may come back and poke the ending again later, but right now I need this chapter out for my own sanity if for nothing else. pray for me.

Happy August! This month we're celebrating the Sloughi!

The Sloughi is one of the ancient breeds of the world. Bred in North Africa, these Arabian Greyhounds are likely closely related to the Saluki, another slender sighthound from the area. Sighthounds such these have been portrayed on Egyptian Heiroglyphics and even Neolithic cave paintings! Nowadays, the Sloughi continues to help hunters in the field and also serve as a guard dog for the home. Sloughis joined the FCI in 1998 but only joined the AKC in 2016, making it one of the more recent additions to the hound group despite its ancient lineage.

Raz faces his fears and goes down to visit Sasha in Medical. He runs into a lot of thoughts on the way. Not all of them are his.

This is another chapter that I feel like I worked on forever. I was really looking forward to it, too, because I remembered the conversation between Milla and Otto as a lot of fun to write out. Unfortunately when I reread it I found it was ROUGH so I've rewritten it a bunch of times. I hope it's now pretty smooth.

This month we're celebrating the Singapura cat!

The Singupura, otherwise known as the Kucinta, is the smallest cat breed recognized by the Cat Fanciers Association. It is native to Singapore and known for its large eyes and ears and it's brown-ticked coat. There was some controversy about the recognition of the breed, as the originators, Tommy and Hal Meadow were accused of lying about the foundational cats in 1987, but an investigation proved the breed legitimate. The Singapura has been embraced by its native land as a cherished part of their way of life.
