There's a new game from Colorgrave (that indie game company I've posted about before), it's quite relaxing so if you've been finding other games stressful, you should try it. Especially if you like trees, nature, giant girls with watery hair, and anthropomorphic animals.

Im curious given you are an avid SoJ enjoyer; what are your thoughts on Nahyuta and his actions?

My opinion on him is a little complicated, as my perception of him while playing the game (brother pisses me off, his theme starts and I groan, one of the only things i have ever flipped off) is completely different from my opinion of his overall character... but I suppose that just means he's written well haha.

I think he's very similar to Blackquill in that a majority of the game, he's masking his true emotions and/or motivations due to the need to protect someone (Rayfa, Apollo, and, frankly, himself) from harm. I think this makes him fairly complex and nuanced as you can't precisely tell what he's feeling at any given moment- if anything, he's specifically trying to hide such a thing.

As a sidenote, I do enjoy thinking about what his true feelings were throughout The Magical Turnabout, and the other cases pre: Revolution to a smaller extent. He had to be a little fucked up over facing Apollo in court, methinks...

A lot of his actions were, in my mind, influenced by this need to keep up appearances, and so I honestly can't say how many of them were explicitly his own decision or were influenced by Ga'ran. So, even though he pulled a lot of dickish moves throughout the game, I feel like a fair few of them can be forgiven due to his difficult position at the time.

I would be interested to see more of him post-SoJ, to get a better read of his emotions and personality.

worst thing about ace attorney is that you're law enforcement, so if it turns out the entire situation was just a really tragic accident or the victim had it coming and the murderer really doesn't deserve to go to jail, there's nothing you can do. you can't cover anything up. someone, by the very nature of the weird ass legal system in this game, HAS to get convicted. given, i have yet to encounter a case where going "yeah we can just not tell the cops anything happened. it's probably for the best" is something i would do. but i would like the option to

maya fey is the reason dl-6 was solved; an essay.

Maya Fey's character is so so important to me and i love her so so much and i have so much to say about her.

for me, her role in the story is and forever will be the heart, she is so energetic and powerful and strong and brave and loving, and unironically her actions are so integral to the plot.

dl-6 would not be solved without her. nobody talks about this though so i gotta.

TURNABOUT GOODBYES

okay i love maya so fucking much and she is so incredibly important to goodbyes.

she is literally the person who first suggests von karma carried the bullet away.

she worked it out.

she also is so caring and brave that SHE ATTACKS VON KARMA WHO HAS A TAZER FOR MILES despite the fact miles has been almost nothing but cruel to her at this point accusing her and nick of murder and trying to put the steel samurai in jail.

like she is the reason we had the bullet, shes the reason we knew it was von karma in this first place and her solving dl-6 is important because that case took away so so much from her.

it took away her mother. mia tried to bring her back and dl-6 in a roundabout way took away mia too.

so she got to take down dl-6

I'm sad that Gumshoe isn't a character in the Apollo Justice series!! I get that he's in the Miles Edgeworth Investigates ones but he is just kinda "there"; I wish in the 7yrs later games we had seen him experience an evolution like Detective Badd. Like not become "super competent" and totally erase his character, but learn his own strengths and make choices about who to help in each case based on learning to trust his own judgement!

The fact that Furio Tigre could use a cardboard badge and a vague resemblance as means to represent someone in court is enough to convince me that Godot was not legally a prosecutor at any point in time. I’m dead convinced he just walked into the court because he heard Phoenix would be there and told the prosecutor that he was now in charge of the case, banking entirely on the fact that no one would call his bluff. They didn’t.

Edgeworth becomes chief prosecutor and finds that those cases’ court records are a disaster because Diego never filled out any of the paperwork and no one could find him to follow up because Godot isn’t his real name. He just Rasputin’d the entire court system for 6 months because no one had the courage to call him out on his bullshit
