Hi there! The short answer is: yes. The long answer that nobody asked for is that it is taking longer than anyone would want, myself included. As I have progressed in my programming career the last few years, I have been able to gain a wealth of knowledge to apply to Solus Orbis. The downfall is that, after work, I am more mentally exhausted than I could have anticipated. This means that I often do not have the energy or mental capacity of work to give to SO or, truly, any computer activity and I try my best to get motivated on the weekends. I wish that I had better news here, but know it isn't forgotten or never worked on.

Alpha release is coming!!

Friday, Feb. 18th will begin the road of Alpha testing. The purpose of Alpha release is to catch things sooner than later. It'll be easier to fix flows that you guys find clunky now as opposed to later on and further in. If you'd like to participate, check out the official Discord for more information!

So I recently came across your blog and I had a few question about Solus Orbis where you said it would be a platform for forum-based roleplayers to create sites similar to JCINK.

Can you set an age limit like 18+/21+ or 17+ outside of the normal 13+?

Will that be a free option or something like Premium JCINK?

Is it easily customizable like skins for JCINK outside of themes provided? Also I say easily customizable because most people just upload and colour to their desirer.

Also sorry for referencing JCINK so much, it's the only platform I'm familiar with but I'm starting to look at other options cause the support isn't what it used to be. And sorry for all the questions

Please don't apologize for all the questions or referencing JcInk. I completely understand! I'm happy to answer any and all questions you have. :)

In regards to the age limit, I do plan to implement this similarly. I will have to speak with a legal team to ensure what's the best way to protect our users, Solus Orbis and myself.

Legality may affect some of it but my current plan is that it would be similar to Premium JcInk.

My goal with Solus Orbis is to make easily customizable. That means loading in themes and adjusting with variables and so on. My biggest fear is offering too much customization, because I truly want this platform to be as customizable as people want. I'm thinking there will be simpler routes or more involved paths, but either way -- you should be able to import skins/themes and be set!

I know Solus Orbis is in a perpetual pending state. The fact is that I want to do my best and grow as a developer with this project. That means implementing a lot of behind the scenes pieces to ensure SO runs as smoothly as reasonable when it does launch. Solus Orbis Update

I know I’ve been quiet, so I wanted to drop in and give everyone an update!

Over the last 7 months, I was heavily focused on working long hours and trying to meet deadlines for my then job. About a month ago, I accepted a new position where I have been working long hours to try and meet deadlines (lol), but that’s mostly on top of also trying to learn a completely new code base and the way my new company functions. This will probably continue to be in play for the next few months as well; therefore, my focus has not been on Solus Orbis as much as I’d prefer.

Needless to say, I have been very mentally drained. I wasn’t taking any R&R on the weekends as I should have been, and I was stressing myself out with my new position so my brain was overtaxed. My anxiety was through the roof, but I finally did no coding this weekend for the first time in months and it was greatly needed.

All that being said, SO Is NOT lost or forgotten. My next few weekends just need a mental break and then hopefully I can jump right back into it.

Thanks for all your interest and sticking with me. I appreciate the support. You have no idea how motivating and helpful that it is. I want this to be a beautiful piece for all of us to love and cherish.

this is a dumb question but what is solus orbis?

Hey there. This isn’t a dumb question at all. :) Solus Orbis will be a platform for forum-based roleplayers to create sites (similar to JcInk/InvisionFree/AvidGamers/Spleafnet/AcornRack). What will separate SO from the others is that it’s built for that specific niche, with the focus on providing what the community is asking for in order to make their sites as robust as possible. For example: more variable access to character data, ability to have forum fields, etc. I’m open to any and all suggestions for launch as well as the future of SO. :D

Have you contemplated the option of translating (once it's done) solus orbis to other languages?

I have! This is certainly something I’d like to accomplish and provide so that SO can be accessible to as many people as possible.

One of the requested features I am excited about is the ability to add a main color and/or additional colors to a user’s groups. These colors will then be accessible in CSS, which can be great for use in gradients or any additional color highlighting for your site!
