What timeline are we living in right now? I’m so bewildered.
So… copper tools and armor. Fits between stone and iron. So not as strong as Iron, but easy to get early on in game for protection. Good for early stages of the game.
Copper Golem will inventory sort for you. Put random items in a copper chest, the copper golem will take those items out and move them to regular chests with similar items. Holy hell. That’s gonna change things up so much about how we make bases and sort things.
It’s really nice that they’re listening to the community and working on finding ways to enhance gameplay based on audience feedback. And this bringing back mob vote losers to be part of future small game drops is a really nice way to appease people who have been overly critical of the mob vote and Minecraft in general.
Good features.

No, he doesn’t deserve all the credit… but the movie also wasn’t going to have original songs in it either until Jack Black did a Jack Black and sang “Lava Chicken” just like he did with “Peaches” on the Mario Movie. And Jack Black’s memable expressions and way of speaking is why the movie is popular and everyone is quoting “Chicken Jockey.”
So when the Minecraft game adds a new music disc literally called “lava chicken” that you can only obtain by killing a chicken jockey… yeah… I’m gonna blame Jack Black for that.
The Minecraft movie was such a huge hit, they’re already working on a sequel.
Memes from the Minecraft movie were so popular they’re now being incorporated into the base game itself.
If this keeps up, we are going to start seeing the memes from the movie in the game become memes in the sequels and so forth on and on until theres nothing new about Minecraft in Minecraft anymore.
This is how Minecraft dies.
And Jack Black killed it.
Fuck you 🖕

Fuck Jack Black.
They’ve added his shitty song “Lava Chicken” to Minecraft. It’s now an 8-bit chiptune music disk you can collect by killing a chicken jockey. <- Subtle like a brick to the face.

This is why the Minecraft Movie being such a meme success pissed me off. Because I knew it would only be a matter of time before the shit that was in that film made its way back into the base game.
Minecraft can be a meme, but as a general rule of thumb it shouldn’t meme itself. Once games start to do that it becomes like an ouroboros eating its own tail.
This isn’t the Minecraft I grew up loving.

I wanna ask a genuine question about Dream.
How are we as a fandom responding to him?
I don’t like getting into fandom gossip and discourse if I can help it, but I was pretty sure that after several of the people on the Dream SMP were revealed to be bad people that we had all collectively sworn off Dream as a fandom. No?
But just the other day he just uploaded a brand new Manhunt video, the first one in what seems like years. And in the comments everyone is just treating this like he never left or there was never a controversy around him.
It’s feeling really surreal. Maybe I’ve forgotten what actually happened? Outside the speed running cheating allegations and that whole back and forth fiasco, I recall after his face reveal he was basically bullied into silence and many of his friends were revealed to be either groomers or abusers. I don’t recall if any of that was technically on him, or what happened specifically, I just recall we all stopped paying attention to Dream.
Has that changed? Did I miss something? What has Dream being doing? I’ve tried googling but Google sucks these days and I don’t really want to sift through Reddit posts or Twitter threads.
Can someone help me understand what’s going on?

I really dislike this era of filmmaking where what qualifies to the general public what is an excellent movie is just how many references they can spot.
I’m sorry but if doing this every few minutes is your barometer of quality..

…then we are REALLY in trouble as a species. Watch more movies, please. Watch everything from the 1900’s to the present day. Diversify your tastes and refine your multimedia pallet. Build up a repertoire of standards please, I’m begging you.

I’m extremely salty about The Minecraft Movie for a number of reasons…
1. For almost a DECADE I’ve had to enjoy Minecraft Story Mode in the shadows because the prevailing opinion online is that it sucks, despite it having really well thought out storylines, character arcs and development, a STACKED voice cast, and multiple seasons worth of content.
2. I despise the director of the film because he got notably famous for making a film that’s one gag is “these autistic nerds sure are fucking WEIRD, and isn’t it funny these people are so different from us normies?”
3. The film just looks bad. The CGI is passable at BEST and downright creepy and grotesque at worst. Not to mention the changed the way Minecraft works by having different sized blocks.
4. It’s lazily written and does not respect its audience at all. And right up until the film came out we were COLLECTIVELY IN AGREEMENT that it was going to be shit… only for the entire world to just FLIP on it and make it into a cultural event. I feel like I’ve been gaslighted by the whole world.
God… it SUCKS that people won’t even give MCSM the time of day because it (supposedly) has “inconsistent writing,” yet they lose their god damn MINDS at Jack Black prancing around on a shitty green screen screaming “CHICKEN JOCKEY!” You cannot praise the garbage writing of the movie and then turn around and say the MCSM story is bad. Season 2 in particular has one of the best character development arcs I’ve ever seen in Petra’s storyline. But no, I’m expected to believe budget Lego movie knockoff is BETTER WRITTEN???
I feel betrayed by the Minecraft fandom in particular. You all hated the film until it made a billion dollars. Now I’m just supposed to go along with it cuz “it’s just a dumb movie who cares?” while you continue to denigrate Story Mode? Don’t any of you have any self respect?
Fuck, I hate this movie and everything it stands for, and once again I’m in the fucking minority. Fuck me, I guess.

You know why I am? Because you deserve BETTER. You should respect yourself to demand better quality storytelling from a multi-MILLION dollar movie. You shouldn’t settle for a film that treats you like garbage and panders to you in the most algorithmic way possible. You deserve a movie that doesn’t hate you, and you shouldn’t grovel at its feet begging for more.
I’m angry and mad and an asshole about this film because it made a BILLION DOLLARS at the box office when it barely even TRIED with its story. Which just means you’ve all collectively told studio executives that it does not matter HOW SHITTY a film is, if they just load it up with enough Leonardo DiCaprio “I recognize that reference” memes, you’ll all eat it up happily.
I’m “an ass” about this because I can see what this will do to the industry and it’s only going to make things worse. As executives look for ways to cut out every creative part of the movie making process to give it to generative ai bullshit, you’ve just told them you do not actually care about the quality of the film and given them a blank check to churn out even worse slop.
Actual writers who know what they’re doing can’t afford to live week to week, but sure… let’s all pretend The Minecraft Movie is peak cinematic writing.
Fuck this movie. Have some respect for yourself. You deserve better.
You know, I think the most offensive part of the Minecraft Movie is the ending message. If you don’t fit in with the rest of society you can distract yourself with creative endeavors in a fantasy world, but at the end of the day you should go back to reality and try harder to fit in.
This is why most isekai plots generally suck, because eventually the hero has to return to their own reality. And when your story is about people not fitting in with society, giving them a whole new world where they DO fit in and then forcing them to leave it feels less like character growth and more like cruelty. The only one I’ve seen where the creators actually challenged this idea was The Owl House, and they solve it by letting Luz travel between worlds at her own whim and allow her to continue to enjoy living in her fantasy world.
Imagine a movie about a closet gay person discovering openly gay people who love and encourage them only for the story to end with them returning to the closet, not because there’s some logical reason to but because “it’s the right thing to do.” Fuck that! That would be HORRIBLE. That’s exactly what the Minecraft movie is.
The Minecraft Movie hates you and yet you grovel at its feet and beg for more. Pathetic.

Wow, you really ate that bullshit up, huh?
Just because there was an attempt to have an arc, doesn’t mean they were successful or that you should take it as good writing. Those are the barest bones bottom of the barrel weakest excuses for arcs I’ve ever seen in a film.
Especially since many of those characters didn’t even have barely any screen time at all. Natalie? REALLY? The woman who barely has 5 minutes of combined screen time?
The Care Bare’s movies have better character growth than this piece of crap. The Lego Movie did the “creativity is good” message 100x better than this did.
Sorry but you cannot convince me that their half-assed tacked on “message” passes the mustard test.

Woah, this is kinda cool! Someone is re-creating Technoblade’s Skyblock island by going through his old videos and remaking it block by block!
That’s really cool for those of us who miss him and wished we could visit his island again! This looks absolutely insane!

My concept for a Happy Ghast docking port in the sky. Holds 6 bays. Each one has a 5x5 area to park your Ghast. Flip the switch and the walls around the 5x5 area extend to lock the Ghast in place. No need for leads or anything! The bay even lights up when in use indicting that it’s occupied. Hop onto another Ghast, flip the switch to unlock and fly away!

Happy Ghasts are basically going to be hot air balloons for servers now. But one thing I haven’t seen anyone experiment with is how do you WRANGLE the Happy Ghasts?
Mojang has thought about this. When a Happy Ghast is spawned it creates a “home base” that it will fly around. They also prioritize going down towards the ground, other players, or are attracted by snowballs in your hands. This way a Happy Ghasts won’t just fly away and never come back like a lot of Bees tend to do. It’ll stay in the radius of its “home base.”
But if you dismount off a Happy Ghast onto a platform in the sky, and then walk away… what does the Happy Ghast do? It just roams around and flies aimlessly until it gets bored and heads back to its spawn area. Which is not very helpful if you’ve got a base in the sky.
You can attach them with leads, but they’ll still fly up and away the second you dismount, making getting them to come to you a real hassle.
So I’ve come up with this:
This “docking station” is about 5x5 blocks deep. There’s a fence post where you dismount for a lead, and a lever that (when activated) will push blocks around the Ghast and lock it in place.
I’ve done testing and if you just attach the Ghast with a lead, all it will do is fly up and away anyway. Granted It won’t be able to go very far, but it’s still chaotic and frustrating to get the Ghast back down.
With the locking mechanism in place the Ghast won’t go anywhere and will remain comfortably in its little hole. You can dismount, walk away, come back, and unlock the mechanism without the Ghast trying to fly away even without a lead!
Obviously right now it’s not the best looking solution. I’m sure there’s a more elegant way to create this…. But come on, if we’re going to have hot air balloons we NEED a way to keep them from flying away when we’re not using them!
Think of this as a sky stable for the Happy Ghast!
Heck, maybe you can even put a second platform underneath where a boat could sit, allowing you to transport mobs more easily with this setup!

I maintain my belief that the reason the various stories/seasons of Minecraft Story Mode are so good is because they aren’t trying to explain Minecraft “lore” but instead using the player base’s concepts as a jumping off point for telling their stories.
Every failed piece of Minecraft media tries to explain why Minecraft is the way it is, or explain what things in Minecraft are and why they exist. They use Minecraft concepts, yes, but they also try to explain Minecraft lore or expand upon the lore and focus their narratives around these things.
Meanwhile, every story/season of Story Mode focuses on player built concepts like using a command block to cheat, building a mob farm, skyblock, redstone computers, hunger game competitions, admin controls, prison break games, adding mods, jumping to different servers, and meeting YouTubers.
These are all player created concepts the the MCSM team use as a starting point to tell their stories.
Minecraft if you wanna do better, stop trying to explain why Piglins are bad or where the Warden comes from and just focus on the things players create and treat them as if they’re real things in Minecraft.
