Something i truly do love about myself is that when a new hyper fixation comes on, as soon as i realize its happening ill purposefully put the petal to the metal and try to get as much out of it as possible

Got bored in the kids’ art class; so here’s a fun dumb mashup blackpaper doodle

This is, effectively, how Sylvia and Elliot’s adventuring guild can pay all their guild-members while charging those who petition them for help so little. A lauth of hidecarved dragons, led by the ancient amethyst dragon Andrusseir, fund their group so that their territories are more peaceful, they have a ready force to help retrieve treasures stolen from their hoards, and they have the -perfect- entertainment.

Ostensibly, Andrusseir can see the ‘spark’ of an Adventurer, and wishes to guide them to change the multiverse for good and balance… but besides that he’s just an old coot who likes to watch the mayhem like a grandfather watching his grandkids play in the yard XD

You’re an ancient and powerful dragon, master of the arcane arts. And your hobby is to scry on random humans to watch the unfolding drama of their lives like soap operas. Sometimes you make subtle interventions to nudge your favourite “shows” along in interesting directions.

By popular request, this is the custom race I created for one of my players. Basically an entire colony of space cats!

Here’s the two Astral NPCs: a Hadozee ex-privateer whose ship was wrecked by a Cosmic Horror and led to her becoming a wandering hunter of extra-planar bogies; and Toby, a scotty dog who was accidentally shunted to the Astral Plane and became Awakened by the god of the Wild Hunt Arawn, before taking up the wrench to tinker his way across the cosmos!

Fun facts: the Swashbuckler/Watcher Oath combo was accidentally the most OP-against-Aberrations combo I’ve stumbled upon. And, Toby’s ears are red colored due to Arawn, and he likes putting mythological heads on his Darpa-dog-like Eldritch Cannon. He also still likes head-scratches ^^

Quick D&D story:

As the Unknowable keeps hitting the party with mind blasts, teleporting to corners of the room with his psychic crystal anchors, and Crown Of Madness-ing the Tabaxi Ranger/Monk into his teammates, he’s realizing he can’t take them. They ALL resisted the blasts, the Druid has started to destroy the crystals with an army of giant bugs, and the Tabaxi has not stopped screaming psychically a stream of ADHD nonsense back at his puppeteer. (Done -in person-… I feel validated, and have a headache lol)

As his turn starts, it’s time to cut losses and run. I roll to target for a tentacle grab, to acquire a hostage/snack/consolation prize…

And gasp as he decides to snatch the NPC Awakened Artificer Dog named Toby…

Stupid headcolds, keeping me from work, keeping me from running D&D club… grr…

I actually got a like for the last NPC sheet, so here is a sheet of a pair of traveling gambling buddies who settled with the guild. Rith was born to a githyanki enclave who secretly arrive in the Sword Coast mountains every few years to have children and train them for service to their queen. His training went south after a terrible injury, and he was cast out Sparta style as a teen. Dew is a member of a traveling caravan of Tabaxi, and saved his life. He gave him his by-name because the moon seemed unusually bright, close and full while he was healing.

Now the two travel around like a Han and Wookie combo; a supernaturally talented but frail warrior and a Maine Coon man who can’t dance or run fast but will defend his buddy like his own kin.

Note to DMs: either never let your middle school players draw, or ALWAYS give them a try. The luck of my favorite chaos gremlins was insane…

The rogue who usually stabs every treasure chest to double check has just said “nah, not this one.”

Subtle signs a treasure chest is a mimic

Is holding a knife

If you say the word "mimic" it audibly gulps

Has "nOt a miNi..c" written on it in crayon

Is next to a note by the dungeon designer about how much they hate treasure chests and would never put one in their dungeon

Panics and hides under a table when it notices how tough the players are

If you express suspicion it turns into a different, less suspicious looking chest

Your DM's notes just fell open to "HOW TO FILL A ROOM WITH MIMICS" and they're hastily trying to cover it up.

Is open and inside it's full of plentiful organs instead of treasure.

If the players have a moral discussion it raises an interesting and salient point regarding the matter.
