I'm so interested in modding KH3 or making a fan game. If I could I would rip models and animations and stuff from something like Marvel Future Fight and Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes to make an insane version of the BBS Mirage Arena in KH3.

I'm having a comedically terrible week. Like, the sitcom that is my life is throwing everything at me all at once because I was out from work for two months. Let's recap.

SATURDAY 8/2

I need to get a rental car to drive to western Virginia so I can do a quick recertification of my skills because our two months. The email says the rental will be ready at noon. So I get to the rental place at 12:05pm.

They close at noon. 🙃

So I get in touch with the company and they also express confusion but they say no worries we'll get you another rental. The pickup time is 2PM but they advise me call in and see if I can pick it up early. I call in to the rental car company and explain the situation and they say yes I can get it now. I get the second rental place at 12:30 ish. I wait in line and let my ride know that they can leave cause I'm good.

Friends. I was not good.

I get to the front of the line and the lady at the desk says my pickup time is 2pm and there are six people ahead of me and I'll have to wait until 2 cause they don't have a car for me. I am of course LIVID but I thank her and go have a seat across the terminal. It's not relevant but this is at an airport. I get back on the phone and ask hey, WTF? You said there's a car and I can pick it up now but now I'm being told I have to wait for over an hour so what's the disconnect here? They apologize for the inconvenience and I reiterate that I need to know why yall straight lied to me and are wasting my time having me wait around which is specifically what I called in trying to avoid. They apologize again and I don't respond.

The silence is awkward. They apologize again to fill the silence and I say "yeah, well…"

The silence is more awkward. After about ten minutes the lady behind the desk calls me over because suddenly they have a car available for me! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Three cheers for aggressive silent treatments? So she gets my drivers license and looks up the reservation the company made me and whaddaya know the payment info is blank. She asks me for a credit card to cover the cost.

So I call the company and I'm all yo WTF and my team lead is like WTF I'll rebook it. So about 10 minutes go by and the new reservation doesn't have payment info or the company info.

It takes like four tries but eventually the actual travel department of the company books it and it goes through. I get downgraded from a full size car to a little Mitsubishi Mirage. It's small.

SUNDAY 8/3

I drive the 175 miles to the distribution center I work out of and complete my skills test no issue. Right at the start the trainer tells me that he knows how I drive and that he considers me as already passed but we have to take a ride just in case someone checks the GPS records. Easy beasty.

Side note, I had to get up before 6am to make sure I arrive by 9am for the test. I got there are 8:45. Also there's were some mild issues with things not being sure ready for the test but that's getting into the weeds.

I drive another 200 miles to get to the company operations center. More specifically I drive to the hotel they have me in for the night so I can check in and drop off my luggage and then turn in the rental. I knew I would be taking an Uber to the hotel today and another Uber to the operations center tomorrow so I didn't pack super heavy. I also didn't bring my tools with me. So I check in, leave my stuff, and return the rental. Now I use the link my company sent to call my uber.

So here's the thing. The drop off location for the rental is another airport and one I've never been to. So I don't actually know where the Uber is coming to pick me up. I *see* my Uber go past me but I can't wave him down. A few minutes later he calls asking where I am. I say I saw him and ask where he went. He says top floor of the parking garage. So I go to the top floor of the parking garage. And the third floor. And the first floor. And the second floor. And outside. And back to the top. And two calls later I find him. He wasn't on the top floor, he was parked on the third floor. But I found him.

Thirty seconds after he cancelled the ride.

So the company books me another one.

MONDAY 8/4

Personally I like to get an early start to my day so I can be done by afternoon/early evening. So not getting to start my day until 10am hurt my heart a little. In any case I get my new truck and am ready to get going. I drive from the operation center to the distro and am ready to get back to work and my truck is broken.

I can't hook my truck up. Part of the truck is literally not working. I've had this thing for less than a day. CTFO. And as you may recall, I don't have my tools. The distro maintenance tech and another driver come see what's up and confirm that yes my shit is fucked and they manage to use a mini sledgehammer to force things in place so I can actually get hooked up. It's more than a little disconcerting. But I get going. I also break things further when I get to my destination. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fortunately, I'll have to go past the OC tomorrow so I can have them fix it when I get in. Unfortunately, all the delay of my truck being broken means that I 100% am going to be over two hours late to the pickup appointment I have scheduled in the morning. WELP.

TODAY 8/5

Things more or less are working out. I end up way later to the appointment than expected but they are cool about it. I get to the OC shop and explain how my truck is broked and they are like cool just go around back to the express bay and they'll get you patched up in a jiffy.

2 hours go by. I catch two shiny Combee and both are male.

To be fair, the actual repair took like six minutes. It was just a hell of long wait to get it started. I try to leave the OC and the gate attendant says I can't leave because I have an open work order. I say wait is it for the thing they just fixed?? A few minutes later they let me leave.

I get back to the distro at 7pm. I just missed Swirlix Spotlight Hour because I was driving and you can't play Pokemon Go when you're moving too fast.

Tomorrow I'm driving to Marlton NJ. It's a 600 mile trip and I can't start until noon which means I'll certainly be driving until midnight. Thursday I go home but I might not make it in until Friday.

There's a special kind of devastation in having a limited amount of time to play games, spending said time to play games, and then losing all the progress you made because the game randomly decided to delete your save file. I'm so busy all the time and to get punished for setting time aside to indulge for once is just traumatic. I could have spent that time on stuff I need to die but I'm getting burnt out and I thought this would help recharge. Now I'm just kinda depressed.

It's wild that three of the best games I've ever played released in 2024. I don't think there's ever been an anime game better that Sparking Zero. Metaphor ReFantazio is the best game Atlus has ever made. And Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the absolute pinnacle of what Final Fantasy as a franchise can be. It's not just a good FF, it liberally draws and references concepts and systems from the whole franchise.

So I've come to a bit of a realization: I'm being much too precious regarding my characters. While I would love to and still intend on making something featuring them (outside of Versa I mean), there's little to know harm in talking about them in a semi public manner. My characters are cool. Their designs are awesome. I have commissioned thousand of dollars worth of art of them. So I can talk about them. And I will. Besides, diving into the characters doesn't really effect the stories I want to tell.

So I'm just gonna start posting art of all my characters. Because I don't know if I'll ever get to tell the story I want and I'd hate to not do anything.

Metaphor Re: Fantazio is lucky it's such a good game. The hoops you have to jump through to load your demo save data on Steam Deck is brutal.

I'm making it and it's somehow even weirder than Vampire Survivors x Kingdom Hearts.

Man I cannot get this game idea out of my head. I want a Kingdom Hearts version of Vampire Survivors. Think about how good that would be. Every hero and antagonist and every version. Just killing heartless and leveling up in big battle arenas based on various worlds a la Re: CoM (but bigger). Make the 20 minute boss whatever that world's heartless is.

Also, thank god for Temtem Swarm. The other thing I wanted was Pokémon Vampire Survivors and that is good enough.

How amazing is it that a Princess Peach game and a Princess Zelda game are releasing in the same calendar year? And (Princess) Samus returns in 2025?

Now if I could only get a (Princess (of Heart)) Kairi game too. A real one not some fake out BS.
