Esther looked toward the sound, so dazed from blood loss that she wasn’t quite sure where she’d teleported to. Everything hurt, but she was starting to not feel it anymore… was that good or bad? Did it matter? God, she was tired. Just a little nap–wait, no, don’t sleep!

“Jo…” she started, then coughed. There was something heavy in her lungs, and it wasn’t coming out. “Jotaro?” If her eyes hadn’t refused to focus, she could have easily made him out with her Stand-enhanced night-vison. But everything was a blur of shapes and the adrenaline was wearing off and she was so tired.

She looked down at her hands, slowly, as if they were someone else’s. There was something in her hand. Cutting into her palm. Something warm and wet flowed off of it, dripping onto the gravel. Drip. Drip. Like a clock.

There was a large, jagged piece of glass in her hand, something from a window, probably. It was stained red, her whole arm was stained red; it had splashed across her face and chest. She had several wounds; some cuts or grazes, others bullet-like punctures that continued to bleed sluggishly. Clearly, she’d barely escaped some kind of battle… but who had won?

No words were said. Just wide eyes, he hadn’t fallen asleep and this was just a nightmare was it? His eyes were stuck at the other’s almost... ghostly visage now. “Hey don’t talk.” Was something that just came out and he’s not sure what to do. The sliding of a door behind him and a beam of light from a flashlight, before a gasp and the object clattering on the wood made him turn around. His mother, standing there with hands covering her mouth. “Call Jiji.” If they could get to the bottom of this- it would be for the best. But first, he rushes forwards to catch her with his stand. His brow furrowed, watching Star Platinum lift her off of the rocks and in his arms. He rushes inside, and Holly is already one step ahead of him with a phone in one hand and medical supplies around. Shit... no matter what this’ll be messy.

Sleep had always eluded him, Jotaro sat up a hand resting on his knee. He was the only one awake in this large house of his. Mentally making note that this was going to be another sleepless night, and might as well avoid any interactions the next day if he could sleep in.

He’s pulled from those thoughts immediately by the sound of something collapsing outside, and he stills. A stand user? How could it have gotten past- the idea of stand users finding his location in the dead of night, when his family and him were most vulnerable... wasn’t a comforting one. Calling Star Platinum to his side, he slowly rose from his bed before walking over to one of the doors. Sliding it open, he pauses. The metallic smell of blood hits him, and the sight is something he’s used to- however a couple of images flash through his mind before focusing:

It would have been a perfect night for ghosts.

A cool night breeze blew through the Kujo house, rustling the leaves of the trees in such a way that the sound resembled the waves on the shore. The earthen wall surrounding the estate absorbed the sound of the metropolis just outside of the old samurai district. One could almost imagine themselves back in the Edo period, when the supernatural was believed to wander the night.

A figure appeared almost silently in the back garden, by the old well. A liquid dripped slowly from its fist. It stumbled forward into a beam of light from the house, landing heavily on its knees in the gravel. It was Esther, clothes torn, soaked in blood, still gripping a red-stained shard of glass in one fist.
