dancer jm…i love that she has such a distinct style that most idols, esp gg members, dont get to explore. her textures are so good here like her hits and stops are so sharp but the softer textures are still executed with so much control. her speed changes are so nasty i literally can’t stop thinking abt it. musicality isn’t really something that tends to be explored much in kpop choreo, but it’s pretty obvious that jm has a good sense for it, which is what makes her dancing so unique. im paraphrasing but she also has talked abt how she thinks about expressing the feeling of a song using choreo, which is basically what musicality is. and it shows so much in her performance it makes such a big difference in execution when someone can play with the sounds in the music rather than just doing moves on beat

i think it’s rlly interesting how mj does the body roll mostly with her chest and really emphasizes the torso movement whereas jm starts smaller with hers but completes the motion, incorporating her hips

omg jimin…she ate. i’m always rambling abt how well she uses her body weight, and i think it’s very visible in this performances. esp in the first 20 ish seconds, during the opening and during her intro part, her hits are just so solid and powerful and theres just this distinct groundedness to the way she pops. based on what shes said before about how she tried to emphasize the beat with her dancing, jm seems to emphasize musicality as a dancer and that’s something that’s really apparent in the way she pops or rebounds off of certain sounds in the music. i love watching her fancams and watching for details bc shes just so dynamic with which parts of the song to emphasize. her hairography too is amazing and i’m always impressed with how idols manage dancing with long hair and esp with extensions.

speaking of hairography, smth i noticed from watching the fancams is that compared to the other members, mj’s textures seem to be a bit more distinct and she is overall more snappy and on beat with the music. this surprised me a little, bc i fully believe that the other girls could also pull off the same details, but i think the reason they don’t is bc of their hair. if u pay attention to mj’s fancams, she accentuates a lot of choreo with small, sharp movements using her head and neck, but she doesn’t have to worry abt hairography at all bc her hair was either in the bob wig or tied up. this gives her the freedom to really focus on textures and interpret the music in her style. meanwhile, jm uar and nyz all are smoother and bigger with their head and neck movements because they are dancing with consideration as to where their hair is falling, as well as managing the added weight of having hair down plus extensions (esp aeri, since shes dancing with a cap that isn’t pinned, so she has to be careful with her head movements otherwise it could fall off).

i think the diff between mj and the rest of the girls is most apparent at the chorus during ‘one look give em whiplash’ when they hit the whiplash pose. mj snaps into the pose with her head and arm on beat, whereas the long haired girlies start the head movement slightly earlier and then finish the move on beat to make sure their hair falls into place. u can see in the clip below how jm turns her head from side to side to make sure her hair falls nicely with each movement and it’s very satisfying omg. meanwhile mj dips her head subtly before going into the pose and is very in the pocket when she hits it ugh i love how she does this part. i do wish all the members could have a opportunity to dance without worrying about hair so they can focus on the textures and speed changes bc i think it really breathes life into the choreo and i would love to see how each of them express the details differently.

ohhhh mj ate this up the choreo is perfect for the way she dances like u can tell shes in her element. she’s so precise with isolations with little to no residual movement but when necessary shes so snappy with the choreo and i absolutely love her speed changes in the choreo just so dynamic. esp adore her little rebounds and head snaps she really has that internal pop that jm is talking abt in that one interview omg. you dont see very many dancers like this let alone idol dancers! ugh shes so good this era was made for her

whiplash choreo is so yummy i honestly think the tiktok parts are the least interesting parts of the choreo but overall the speed changes and isos in the choreo really flesh out the music. i knew mj would eat it up shes just so precise…nn too her rap verse continues to be the pussy part of the song and her part is my fav choreo wise as well. i like the trend of aespa getting interesting choreo with textures and speed changes bc at the end of the day it just makes for a better performance and it fits the music better. jm always eats w her speed changes and it’s really evident in the dance practice shes just so dynamic with it u can see how strong her core is…aeri was also rlly feeling herself this song and performance is so her vibe. formations ate too probably some of the best i’ve seen with sm in terms of pictures and transitions

love the way jm hits the whip-whiplash part with both her head and her hips and it might seem like a small detail but it really emphasizes the different pictures so well. her stops in general are very clean and it rlly accentuates the music. the initial bounce that she does is also so grounded and u can tell shes rlly comfortable using her body weight to create that effect. i also love the way she rolls up into the whiplash pose the speed change is very satisfying and she’s just very strong doing it.

omg ningie here showing off her grace…i love how she really incorporates her head to finish out the reverse body wave it just makes the move look so fluid and complete. not sure if the little wrist flick and turn is og choreo or if it’s for the clip but it’s executed so well just very graceful and smooth. the chest part at the very end is also done so well she rlly goes full out and it’s def a move she likes.

i almost wish that they stuck the whiplash pose harder and/or rebounded off of it bc ik jm would eat that shit up, but it would def disrupt singing. if this part is in the choreo draft i wouldn’t be surprised if theres some texture change at that part like i can imagine someone rlly texture focused like bada adding a pop at the whiplash pose then dime stops for each shoulder roll afterwards.
