We got some news thats probs just exciting to #canineepilepsy humans, but Joan's been seizure free for a year (again) & with her latest KBr levels coming back high, we're going to REDUCE her dosage from 1125mg to 750mg.😱 I promise you, this is riviting news over here. As Joan ages, my hope is to be able to lower the amount of medication she's been on since 2yo. Its been 9+ years of medication for this Derpina (amongst other ailments).😅 Anyways, l'm asking for ✨good vibes✨ for Miss Joan O'Brien that we continue to have a good ~seizure free~ year. If you have a pup with epilepsy, I bet your medicine cabinet looks a lot like mine. 😅 I’ve seen milk thistle talked about a lot in my #canineepilepsy support groups to add into the daily routine to help support a healthy liver & kidney function. We haven’t posted in a while. Summer has been busy with travel (for the humans) & vet appointments/specialists for Joan. For as much as we see the vet, you’d think Joan enjoys going instead of trying to escape from the parking garage when she figures out we’re headed to the car. 🙃 We’re doing alright. Just Joan being Joan. She’s excellent at spending other people’s money (aka mine). We are not feeling our best today. 🤒 Joan stopped eating two days ago & I suspected ye ole pancreatitis (she’s been treated for this a few times, thanks side effects). She’s been having increasing trouble walking & balancing too (she has arthritis in her leg). After a round of bloodwork & X-rays, luckily no pancreatitis or signs of infection but … arthritis in several places in her spine. 😞 Now we have yet another medication to add to the growing list, along with an appetite stimulate. If any of you have tips/suggestions to make an old lady comfortable, slide into our DMs. We’re on galliprant & gabapentin for the arthritis, along with joint supplements & fish oil. Its no secret that because of #canineepilepsy Miss Joan is on quite a few medications. Some days its a little tougher on her system than others so I’ve always dabbled in probiotics to help the discomfort that comes with it. Recently we’ve given @nutripaws Digestive Probiotic Bites a try & Joan has given it two paws up. 🐾❤️ So far, its working well for us, more convenient than probiotic powders, and Joan will actually eat it. Bath time is one of Joan’s least favorite activities, right up there with taking walks and being social. I don’t want to put words in Joan’s mouth, but @oliverschoice dog shampoo made bath time better.
