Shooting Action (Panning)
Justin Velicky at Speed SDR   Welcome back, I hope you have had chance to use some of tips from my last two post. This post we are going to learn how to give your action shots some action.   In my last two post we talked about Aperture Priority, and ISO, both very important to getting a great action shot. Okay so now lets try and make your subject look like it’s moving. If you set your camera…

Film to Mirrorless (DSLR)
Welcome back to Film to Mirrorless. Last time I talked about getting into photography as a high school student. I really enjoyed shooting film, and learned a lot from it. Like I was saying it slows you down and cost you money every time you push the shutter. After a twenty year hiatus from shooting, I bought my first DLSR in 2009. My cousin Steve had been shooting, and posting images on facebook…

Film to Mirrorless (Film)
Remember when 24-36 exposer film was the way of life for a photographer? Now days we can shoot 400 pictures at a time before we need to change our card. Remember when we would shoot one frame at a time? Now days we can capture 11FPS, and get the perfect shot later in post. Remember when we didn’t know what our exposer, or composition looked like until we looked at the negatives while they were…

Primes Or Zooms
I would like to ask you a question. What do you prefer shooting with a prime lens or a zoom lens?. This seems to be a hot topic in the photography community.I myself use more zoom lens’s then primes. For my Canon 7D I use a 28-75mm 2.8 and a Canon 70-200mm 2.8 for most of my shoots. As far as my fuji XE2 I use a 18-55 2.8-5.6 zoom when I’m shooting with mirrorless. The reason for me using zooms…

Fuji XE-2 My Monochrome Camera
Tumblr media
The second Fuji Camera that I bought was the XE-2. This was my main mirrorless camera for a year or so. I loved this camera and how it operated. After shooting with my Fuji most of the time, I sold off all of my Canon gear. With the cash from my Canon equipment I went out a bought new Fuji XT-1 to use as my main camera body along side the XE-2. These two cameras are great tools for my Motorsports…

A Great Summer With The Fuji XPro-2
Early May 17 I purchased my Fuji XPro-2 Camera. Like I have said in older post I have always wanted the XPro-1 since it was announced. Well I finally was able to get the camera of my dreams the XPro-2.
I would guess that most people that plunk down a lot of cash for this beautiful camera are using it for street photography, portrait photography, or just as a everyday camera. I use mine for all…

Fuji XPro-2 Two Months At The Track
Tumblr media
Hello everyone, thank you for stopping in. I just wanted to give you a update on how my summer shooting is going with the XPro-2. So far this summer I have covered 8-9 races and 5 car shows, all with my new Fuji XPro-2.  It seems like the more I shoot with it the more I love it.

We traveled to Pennsylvania a couple weeks ago for two nights of USAC racing. These cars are fast and not easy to get…

Using Photobooks to Save Your Work
Tumblr media
In my recent post I have been talking about making prints of you images. Prints will last a lifetime. You will not have to worry about being able to open files that were saved on some kind of device 20 years ago. A photo isn’t a photo until it’s printed. This summer I decided to make some photo books of all of the events that I cover this year. I am still making prints, but with a book people…

Fuji's EVF and OVF
Fuji’s EVF and OVF
Coming from the DSLR world most of us are used to using a OVF (optical viewfinder). Even back in the day of film cameras OVF is what we knew. With the ever growing mirrorless camera market, there is a new way to see what we are shooting. The EVF (electronic viewfinder) has changed the way we shoot today.
Tumblr media
I must admit at first it was weird to shoot with a EVF on my Fujifilm X-e1. Shooting action…

Are Still Images Still Important?
Tumblr media
In my last blog post I was asking what is the future of the still image? With most social media site moving toward video, what will be the fate of a digital image. I am worried that we might not be thinking enough about saving our still shots. Yes video has been around for ever. Since 8mm, beta, VHS we have been video recording life for along time now. So I guess photographers have survived all…

What Is The Future Of Still Photography?
Tumblr media
Is still photography less important theses days? I guess it depends on how you look at photography. With most everybody carrying a camera in their pockets (phone) I would have to say there are more still images being taken today then any other Time in history.
With that being said those phones also take wonderful video. YouTube is huge for content today. I know I watch YouTube more then I do…

No Respect For Loyal Photographers.
Tumblr media
Well I didn’t really want to have to blog about this subject, but I guess I should for all of the dedicated photographers out there trying to cover events for all sorts of reasons. We all know that making money shooting High School sports, local events, or hometown Motorsports is about impossible. Yes we can sell a few prints here and there for a couple bucks, but most of the time covering your…

Busy Motorsports Weekend With XPro-2
Busy Motorsports Weekend With XPro-2
Tumblr media
This weekend was full of Motorsports action with my Fujifilm XPro-2. Saturday night I was at Square Deal Riders for their opening race this year. 282 riders packed the place in tribute to Jamison Minor , and Kyle McGrane who both lost their life in accidents last year.
This was my first time shooting motorcycles with my XPro-2. In the past I have always used my XT-1, and XE-2. I was very…

Fuji Xpro-2 Second Thoughts
Tumblr media
Welcome back to 215 everything photography. A couple weeks ago I bought my list camera the Fuji XPro-2, and did a blog post about my first shoot with it. Thank you to everyone that stopped by and read my first thoughts on the XPro-2.

Capturing Movement In Motorsports Photography
Capturing Movement In Motorsports Photography
We have all seen that Motorsports image that makes the subject look like it is going 200mph. I think that is how all action photography should be viewed. On the opposite side of motorsports photography, you have seen the tack sharp image  where it looks like the subject is sitting stalled on the track.
I know for me I love racing because if the speed and action. In my opinion that’s how…
