The hardest part about being Jewish in 2025 isn’t the antisemitism.
The hardest part about being Jewish in 2025 is that Judaism teaches us to overcome our יצר הרע (Yetzer Hara’ah, the bad/evil inclination), that we have to be better than our base instincts. Meantime the rest of the world can’t even bother to try and overcome theirs.

some images from the cave homes of gharyan, libya. communities of jews who made their homes in underground caves have been known in the maghreb since before the 1st century. when spain invaded tripoli in 1510, tripolian jews, both toshavim and sephardic, fled to gharyan and dug out cave homes for themselves. the houses today are occupied by non-jewish libyans or rented out to tourists.

Keshet's progress pride flag but I made it colorblind + photosensitive friendly and added the intersex part
Tumblr media
[ID: The intersex inclusive progress pride flag with a Star of David symbol in place of the original triangle. The circle of the intersex part is also a Star of David. /End of ID]

I just saw a comment saying “the Zionist movement wasn’t a thing 3000 years ago”. Yeah that’s the whole point😂😂 we were in Israel and then exiled later 😂

something i don’t really like is that sometimes i feel like within diaspora discussions of the war and conflict, Israeli peace activists are painted as more virtuous/sympathetic/worthy of life, as opposed to just… average Israelis living their lives, who don’t wish bad upon Palestinians but aren’t really involved in active peace building efforts, or Israelis who are less hopeful/optimistic and much more guarded - because of trauma, experience, whatever other reasons. i also feel like there is more pressure on Jewish Israelis to be involved in peace activism, and non-Jewish Israelis get excluded from their role in that and don’t have the same pressure/expectation on them. this is just my observation in diaspora discussions and spaces and attitudes… i don’t really like it, i don’t think Israelis are inherently obligated to be peace activists to be worthy of life and peace and prosperity… i don’t think those who are peace activists are more deserving of sympathy than other Israelis… i think what they do is very important and difficult but i also respect not everyone can be in that space especially post 10/7…
i think my broader point is that Jewish life is inherently valuable. we don’t need to prove our worth. we are worthy simply by virtue of being alive. that the rest of the world cannot see that, is not our fault.
idk these are just my thoughts…
