Quickly setting up a new install of Windows
If you've worked at a tech shop or even done multiple reinstalls of Windows, you quickly figure out how tedious the process is, especially on computers with OEM bloatware on them.
There are some handy tools to speed this process up:
The PC Decrapifier: batch uninstall software
Revo uninstaller: get permanently rid of hard-to-uninstall software
Chocolatey: package manager for Windows
To install Chocolatey, open command prompt as admin and paste & run this:
@powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command "iex ((new-object net.webclient).DownloadString('https://chocolatey.org/install.ps1'))" && SET PATH=%PATH%;%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\chocolatey\bin
Now Chocolatey has been installed and you can use it to install packages. For example:
choco install ccleaner revo.uninstaller malwarebytes -y
will batch install CCleaner, Revo Uninstaller and Malwarebytes without asking anything after you press enter. Fully automatic. You can even make the whole thing into one .bat file, run it as admin and go grab yourself a cup of coffee.
Also bloatware ridden Windows 10 machines are faster to fully reinstall with a USB flash drive since the installer won't ask for activation.
Download wanted ISO from Microsoft's site, create a bootable 8GB flash drive with Rufus, boot the machine to the flash drive, clear the installed partition (leave recovery partitions untouched), wait installer to finish, update & done.
No bloatware uninstallation frustration annoyance bs.

Useful OS X applications
Some of these applications only have a quote from the developer's website explaining the app because they do a pretty good job at it. I use each one of these applications daily, so I highly recommend you checking them out.
BetterTouchTool
BetterTouchTool is a great, feature packed app that allows you to configure many gestures for your Magic Mouse (1 & 2), Macbook Trackpad and Magic Trackpad (1 & 2) and also Mouse Gestures for normal mice. It also allows you to configure actions for keyboard shortcuts, normal mice buttons and the Apple Remote. In addition to this it has an iOS companion App (BTT Remote) which can also be configured to control your Mac the way you want.
FileLoupe
Fileloupe is a lightweight, incredibly high performance media browser for OS X. It provides a richer set of features for displaying files than the Finder does and it handles displaying multiple items much better than an application like Preview or QuickTime Player does.
Divvy
With Divvy, it’s as simple as a single click and drag in the Divvy interface and your window will be resized and moved to a relative portion of the screen. If that seems like too much work, you can go ahead and create as many different shortcuts as you’d like that resize and move your windows.
iA Writer
I mostly use iA Writer for writing because I like the UI, Nitti Light typeface and it handles formatting & Markdown really well with the fastest link pasting and list creation I know.
Normally how you make test bold, italicized etc. you would have to select the text, press a GUI button or a hotkey and then unselect the text. Unless you remembered to at least leave some space after the text you formatted, the editor will continue to write bold text until you de-boldify it. This results in a slow and tedious formatting that you will end up spending too much time with.
With iA Writer and Markdown I can write a word and press cmd+b right after it to make it bold and continue to write standard body text without the bold formatting sticking to my writing. This reults in a really fast, smooth and enjoyable writing experience. Link pasting is just as simple. Also the focus & typewriter modes are good.
Dash
Dash is an API Documentation Browser and Code Snippet Manager. Dash stores snippets of code and instantly searches offline documentation sets for 150+ APIs. You can even generate your own docsets or request docsets to be included.
I mostly use Dash for text expansion.
Notational Velocity or NV Alt
Notational Velocity is an application that stores and retrieves notes. It is an attempt to loosen the mental blockages to recording information and to scrape away the tartar of convention that handicaps its retrieval. The solution is by nature nonconformist.
