RYDER:
WHO: Ryder & Joon – @joonjung
WHERE: The Glen, countryside
WHEN: April, 2022; Camping Weekend
It had to be one of the more interesting Tinder dates Ryder had ever been on: hiking in the woods during a camping trip. But definitely interesting, and not in a bad way. Like most matches, they had talked for a little while before the other man – Joon, a cutie, he really was looking forward to this hike – suggested that they meet up during the camping trip, take a hike together. It sure beat hitting up the club or talking over beers, not that he had anything against that, but this stuck out in his mind, he could easily admit to that. Not long after they had met up at the agreed upon location, the awkward formalities of ‘hi, I’m Ryder,’ and ‘hey yeah, I know,’ out of the way, he suggested that they get started on the trail, water bottle in one hand, the other swinging his backpack up on his shoulder as he glanced over at Joon. “So, do you do this often? Not the whole meeting up with attractive strangers in the woods thing,” Ryder cracked a joke, offering him a grin, “more like the whole hiking idea.”
Tumblr media
a hiking date seemed way easier in theory than in actual practice, joon laments, already sweating from the straps of his bag on his back and it’s probably just nerves, but he can’t help but wonder if maybe wearing a sleeveless shirt was a little too much for a first date. they’re hiking, though, so it makes sense to be more comfortable than cute, right? he kind of wanted to make a good impression, though. the question made him laugh, though, made him relax a bit more after their slightly awkward introductions. “honestly, no. thankfully you didn’t think i was a serial killer or something, ‘cause i think if someone invited me on a hike i’d probably think they were a serial killer.” maybe not something he should be joking about on a tinder date when the guy still doesn’t know him all too well, and hopefully he’s not so easily spooked. “i’m definitely not one, by the way. honestly, serial killers do way too much physical labor for my liking. i’m more of a computer guy, myself.” and now that he’s done rambling, he asks, “and you? ever gone hiking for a date before?”

Tinder Match w/ Joon
Thea: I've never heard of a frittaffle but it sounds delicious. Did you make that word up or is it a legit breakfast food? Also, do you make them?
Joon: It's definitely a legit breakfast food, and it's pretty damn good if you ask me.
Joon: I think I'm obligated to formally introduce you to the frittaffle now. Your place or mine? (For a kitchen to properly cook in, of course..)

Tinder Match w/ Joon
Thea: If we were at home, cuddling on a rainy Sunday morning, what would we have for breakfast? a) American pancakes b) French crèpes c) waffles d) omelet e) something else?
Thea: The possibilities are endless...
Joon: I might blow your mind with this one. Ever heard of a Frittaffle?
Joon: Think if a waffle and an omelette had a baby.

So they say when you reach a certain age, you just figure things out. I’ve reached a certain age where I tell myself I know what I am doing when I don’t really know what I am doing and instead am still sitting on my couch eating ice cream while watching The Ultimatum instead of making sure that my plants have enough water before I go to work. The plus siide to all of this is I get to watch The Batman for the fifth time this month and I’m really happy about it. Besides it being yet another Tuesday, how’s everyone’s week going?
Tumblr media
Well, who really thinks that far into the future anyways? I think ‘things’ being figured out can be just the rest of the day, which.. you knew you were going to fill with ice cream and a show. The Ultimatum is a show, right? I don’t really watch much tv, to be honest. You can sit through three hours of The Batman that many times? I fell asleep when I went to go see it, not on purpose but.. I was tired before even going to the theater, so I didn’t get to see how it ended. My date was pretty upset with me afterward.

That is pretty much what I did for that first day after getting out of a long shift. Perks of working in the medical field, you’ll feel great about what you do, and they’ll give you hours that can boggle the mind. Don’t think I’ll be organizing shelves at the library but during my few days off I did some volunteering, mostly outdoors to enjoy fresh air even if the weather isn’t perfect. Is that what you’ve done? Organize shelves at the library for volunteering?
Tumblr media
Well that’s good, at least you feel great about what you do. Good on you for still volunteering, must’ve been nice to get outside when you’re cooped up in the hospital all day and all night. And unfortunately yes. When I walked in to return a book, the librarian just.. put me to work. She saw me come in and asked if I was there to volunteer, which, rude. Just because it’s volunteer month doesn’t mean I wanna volunteer. But I couldn’t exactly tell this old lady no, you know? She looked.. lonely.

KADEN:
Open !! Location: Bonne Merde
An exasperated sigh fell from Kaden’s lips as he begrudgingly pulled out his ID to show the bartender. Finger tips drummed on the surface as he eagerly awaited for the drink he ordered for. “Honest question,” he started, putting his ID away once it passed inspection. “Think I’ll ever see the day where I won’t be carded anytime I want a drink?”
Tumblr media
“well...” joon can’t help his cringe at the question, knowing there was no nice way of answering without possibly offending him. “i can’t lie, if it were me, i’d card you. they do it to save their own ass, if it makes you feel any better. you could be underage, or an undercover cop.”

RAMSEY:
After nearly 28 hours on shift and several 16 hours days prior, I am off for the next six straight days – unless a specialized emergency comes into the hospital – but we aren’t going to think that way. Wasn’t expecting to have a holiday weekend off anytime soon since I got lucky at Christmas time last year. Either way I’m counting down to heading down to the community center and grabbing a delicious plate of food for Easter other than that most of my plans including relaxing. Maybe – just maybe, hitting up the gym. Anyone else doing anything special this upcoming weekend or next few days? Other words, give me some ideas so that I don’t end up permanently vegging out on the couch. @merrock
Tumblr media
If I was working for 28 hours straight, I’d rather die than do anything but veg out on my couch for the next few days. Don’t tell my boss that, though. And it is volunteer month, you know, there are plenty of things to do around town if you feel like getting out. I mean, what could be better than organizing shelves at the library?

JOSIE:
You want to know what is awkward?  Maybe not but I’ll say it anyways. It really is awkward how people automatically assume that you celebrate a holiday or occasion.  It feels like everywhere I’ve been this week has either been an explosion of pastel, spring or questions about what my Easter plans are. I’ve literally never celebrated this holiday unless you count that one time I got drunk and took pictures with the Easter Bunny at the mall and I don’t know that this is going to be the year that I start. It’s kind of hard to go out and do anything else though since people love to shut everything down. Most of the time, you can figure out a work around and do something else but literally the world stops at Easter.  The truth of the matter is that what is “good” about Friday is that there are still options to get out. I know that there have to be other people in the world who are not overly consumed by all of this. I need to find some new anti-holiday traditions.
Tumblr media
So.. I’m guessing you don’t like candy or chocolate, then? Would you keel over and die if I gave you a chocolate egg? Or would you be able to stand the embarrassment of holding something in association with your drunken best friend, the Easter Bunny? What did you do for Easter, by the way? I hope you went to the center and participated in all of the festivities.

✩ FACE CLAIM: Woo Do Hwan ✩ FULL NAME: Jung Joonki, westernized Joonki Jung ✩ NICKNAME(S): Joon is what he goes by most frequently, JJ ✩ PRONOUNS & GENDER: He/his, cis male ✩ SEXUALITY: Pansexual ✩ RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single ✩ BIRTH DATE: May 3rd, 1994 (currently 27, turning 28 soon) ✩ BIRTH PLACE: Greenville, Maine ✩ TIME IN TOWN: Six years ✩ HOUSING: Downtown ✩ OCCUPATION: Bookkeeper at Bardales Inc. ✩ FAMILY: Miran Jung (mother, alive), Daeil Jung (father, unknown), N/A YET (younger sibling, 24)
✩ WANTED CONNECTIONS
✩ PERSONALITY: Joon is a quiet and intense type of person on the surface; just by looking at him, you would think he was mysterious, intimidating. But once you get talking to him, you'll find that he's incredibly intelligent and a great conversationalist, if you're able to get him to open up a little. With an infectious smile that could easily be used to charm any person he'd ever want, you'd think that Joon would have people knocking at his door, but he tends to be generally oblivious to how others see him. He's always been more focused on taking care of his younger sibling, practically being a second parent to them because their mother worked day and night as a nurse.
JOONKI was only twelve when his parents divorced, which he thought was long coming because of how often they fought throughout the years. he always wondered why they stayed together for so long, had himself and his younger sibling before splitting, but he never asked. it wasn’t his place, and he was far too focused on keeping his eight year old sibling out of all of the drama, distracting her with games and bike rides and whatever else he could. after the divorce, their father moved across state and lost contact, and for the next few years the only contact they had with him were birthday cards with a couple dollars tucked inside.
HE wasn’t all too broken up about it, but it did sting, and his sibling’s tears over him were salt on the wound that grew to be a deep resentment towards their father for abandoning their family and hurting his sibling in result of it. they would always ask joon why he didn’t love them enough to stay, why he couldn’t have at least stayed in town or called just so they could hear his voice. joonki’s hacking career began with the curiosity surrounding his father’s evasiveness, so he began snooping around places that he shouldn’t have on the internet.
YEARS passed and he ended up used his developed hacking skills for other freelance jobs as well just for money, but he kept on with the search for their father for his sibling’s sake. only, once joon did find out where he was, he tried his best to keep it hidden for purely selfish reasons; he didn’t think their father deserved to see his children, not after how badly he’d hurt his youngest.
COME joonki’s twenty-second and his sibling’s eighteenth birthdays, no generic card without a return address came in the mail like it had year after year before. he was suspicious, yes, but not worried like his younger sibling was. a few weeks after their birthday, they came to him with an address that their mother had been keeping from them for years, belonging to their father, or so they claimed. while he’d been keeping tabs on the man for quite some time, he kept that information to himself, and let the younger walker sibling believe that he was just as shocked as they were at the revelation. joon couldn’t help but wonder, though, and that was what eventually had him giving in to his sibling’s incessant begging to take a roadtrip to merrock, maine in search of their father.
MERROCK seemed to be a dead end for the pair of siblings, however unfortunately literal that had to be. they found that their father had been missing for months, but the air of mystery around the case was what had them wanting to stay in the city. there were no records of his life there, and the address they were given was an abandoned house at the corner of a street that was just as creepy as the shattered windows visible from the sidewalk. joonki’s younger sibling wanted to feel closer to him, and joon wanted to know what exactly happened to him, so they got an apartment together in the downtown district and he promised them he would find out what happened. joon was hacking into official files, immensely curious about the case that just didn’t seem to have any clues, almost like his disappearance was barely looked into from the beginning. like he didn’t exist in the town at all.
EVENTUALLY, joonki and his sibling settled down in town. he was able to come to terms with the fact that their father was nowhere to be found after over a year of looking into it, joon probably having more knowledge about the case than any of the cops or detectives involved... and he gave up looking into the disappearance. it was chalked up to the man possibly getting lost at sea, but even then.. his sibling swore to never forgive him for giving up on their father. their relationship was still strong, but they grew apart due to their resentment, and he wondered if his sibling would ever even speak to him again if they knew he was aware of their father’s stay in merrock years and years prior.
JOON continued his education at the local community college while they were there, obtaining his associate's degree in business administration and then going on to work as a bookkeeper at bardales inc. it was originally to keep tabs on anything regarding the house that his father supposedly stayed at during his time there, but since leaving that obsession behind, has come to enjoy his place of employment. he's not sure if he wants to stay in merrock forever, but he's got a life there and wants to make the most of it.
