What is the artwork of yours that you are the most PROUD of?

Hello friend! 👋🏻 So sorry for the delay! I've had to spend some time thinking about this.

Even though I'm still fairly new to drawing, I'm proud of every piece I've done. Drawing has become a much bigger part of my life than I thought it would be. It's taught me a lot of things about myself.

I'm nowhere near as good as I'm hoping to become. I can't say I'm more proud of any one piece than others. But I chose this one because it was the second sketch I had done of Harley (and anyone, period) and I cried when I finished it because it looked exactly like her, and I couldn't believe I had done that with my own hands. I didn't draw people before I started working on my OCs, so this was really special to me.

Thank you SO MUCH for asking, it was nice looking through everything and thinking about it all, reflecting on everything I've been able to accomplish in two years as someone who is trying to teach herself to draw people digitally. 🖤🖤🖤

WIP Wednesday

tagged by @voidika Thank you so much <3 <3 I'm still struggling to write much, and work on chapter 4 of "My Head is Bloody, But Unbowed" has ground to a halt lately. So have a scrap of some comfort meant for chapter 6 after the angst to come in chapter 5.

John's heart thuds as he steps off the helo, the blades whirring above his head, boonie hat fluttering about his ears. Focus driven, his heavy boots march one foot in front of the other. No hesitation. Purposeful. Tunnel vision sets in, everything else blurred, blanked out until all he sees is her standing there, waiting for him.

Unkempt waves flutter around her chin in the breeze stirred up by the chopper, a soft grin curling her lips meant just for him. Her blood shot eyes sparkle in the waning light of the evening, surrounded by the shade of the rocky crags of mountain tops.

Alive.

His mouth, drawn in a grim line, parts to let out a long, slow breath of relief. Warmth, the likes of which he only ever seems to feel in her presence, floods his system. The raw ache that had overtaken him earlier swept away by the sight of her peeling away from the hangar and coming to meet him halfway.

Sliding his rifle strap along his chest, he put his weapon aside, letting the weight hang from his back — he doesn't want a single thing getting between them. Paved ground is devoured by the length of his strides. In an instant, with one arm clamped around the span of her lower back, he lifts her up off her feet and tucks her safely against his chest. Held in the protective circle of his embrace, one she fits perfectly into.

His first instinct isn't to kiss her during this quiet reunion, as much as his lips already tremble at the mere thought of crashing against hers, of tasting her sweetness once more. Instead, he nuzzles into her neck. Breathes her in, fills his lungs with her. Lungs that starved for oxygen at the thought she might have been gone, that his hands might never hold her again. Crushing her against him, he buries his face in her hair, into the crook of sensitive flesh that curves into her shoulder. Her body heat seeps into him, sinking into his bones, warming the marrow, the blood, chasing away the icy tendrils that chilled him to his core.

She's soft, so fucking soft. But most of all, she's real. Her heartbeat melding with his is all the proof of that he needs.

"Don't you ever fuckin' do that t' me again," he rumbles against her in a low, husky rasp. "Y' hear me?"

Arms coiling tightly around his neck, her hands cradle the back of his head, fingers delving into the hair at his nape as she massages the tension away from him. She's not a specter, a distant dream of hope that he clung to on the journey. She's here. His Rory. A little worse for wear and smelling like Nik's shampoo and body wash, but she's no figment of the imagination.

"I hear you," she says, nestling her cheek against him, lavishing herself in the rasp of his beard against her.

He knows he's drawing the looks of his men, of Kate, and of Nik. People who all have only ever seen him under control, the man with all the answers, capable and unbreakable. Yet he's been brought to his knees with the force of his own fear and the only safety net is the one currently held in his arms. Caught. Ensnared by her. Lowering her to the ground, his large hands cup her face, engulfing that angel-like appearance in his grip before he finally gives his mouth the gift it has been craving. His lips meeting hers in what starts as something gentle, a brush of longing, before it quickly grows, evolving into gripping hands and breathless motions of flesh upon flesh.

When they part, he meets her gaze. In his stormy depths a hint of the fear, the haunting thought of being without her still clings on. A lasting reminder of how tenuous things were when their lives were on the line. His thumbs stroke over the peaks of her cheekbones, brushing against them repeatedly in a motion he's not sure whether meant to calm her or himself. "I thought I'd lost you," he says, voice hoarse, thick with the hard lump of genuine terror that had lodged itself in his throat.

"Not so easy to get rid of me," she murmurs. "You know that." Her hazel depths are glassy, reddened from her contact with the gas and the tears that well there. A half-hearted little smirk forming at the corners of her lips as she tries to smile to break the tension.

I've probably done this already, but I'm just gonna say it again; when I listen to "The Other Side" (specifically Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron's duet), I can only ever think about Joaquin Cobalt convincing a very much alive Malcrum Darling in the TWDG universe into joining the newly founded Omniscient Rule in the titular The Omniscient Rule (of The Omniscient Rule saga), after being tasked by the firstborn Eldritch, Amari the Apothecary. Joaquin at this stage doesn't know the exact details of the "sins" Malcrum beats himself up over (only getting vague hints from Malcrum and Amari himself) and rather points out to Malcrum that, from what he's learned, the latter had no control over his situation at all, and that the blame for being physically and psychologically forced to hurt those he cared for laid solely on Edward Carmine's shoulders. This is the first time where Joaquin's black and white view of the world actually adapts a little; he doesn't believe Malcrum is in any way guilty for the actions he committed against his will, and believes (well, not really, Joaquin doesn't actually think it applies to Malcrum here, but knowing the other won't let it go...) Malcrum to be way more worthy of redemption than the man behind their and others victimization. This is essentially how it goes down:

"Right here, right now I put the offer out I don't want to chase you down But I know you see it You run, with me And I can cut you free Out of the drudgery and walls you keep in So trade that typical for something colorful And if it's crazy, live a little crazy You can play it sensible, a king of conventional Or you can risk it all and see

Next song is for A Radioactive Calamity of Love, Bombs & Gore, especially regarding Ortega "Ore" Brantley and Marissa "Ress" Bishop sibling relationship and the companions they keep. Ore is the oldest sibling, and he's been around a lot longer in post-nuclear war America. Where Ore was raised on the moral ethics of his mother, Tiffany Brantley, a Responder who helped revived the Fire Breather division, Ress was raised on the values and expectations of the Bishop Crime Family, under her mother, Leslie Ann Bishop, alongside her nephew (who would become the future Mr Bishop). Its growing up under their respective mothers that shapes which companions they take; Ore usually (with exception to Courier Ryder) trusts morally upstanding individuals who choose to do the right thing (such as Tycho, Marcus and Fawkes), though given his experience in the America's wastelands, he also understands that people don't hold much of a choice in doing whatever they could to survive, given the unspoken rule of "survival of the fittest", so he's lenient or even sympathetic to those who don't necessarily align with his moral compass but are still helpful or even practical to have around (like Katja, RL-3 and Joshua Graham). Meanwhile, Ress picks people who are often rebellious or even troublesome outcasts in some way (Charon, Veronica, Boone and Piper being prime examples), however, she's open to allowing "goody-two-shoes" to join her crew and despite her demeanor, is willing to act as a deterrent for those naive or inexperienced (Star Paladin Cross, Alph & Amata, Gannon, and Preston). Ore and Ress often butt heads due to personal ideals conflicting, however, at the end of the day, the bonds of family and the thirst for patricide is what drives them closer together. Also helps that this revenge quest gives them an excuse to make many friendships with their companions, and especially for Ress by the events of Fallout 4, where she enters a relationship with Piper and becomes a trustworthy and reliable adult figure for Piper's little sister, Nat.

And last song for the OTP of my original trilogy, An Old Ballad of Chance and Ember Hearts, Jade Smith and Jasmine Rafiq. These two are introduced in the original work Wings And Horns as one of the pairs of soulmates that Archangel Metatron and Cadet Azriel come across, and subsequently protect them from Xiang and Jezebel Ba'al's campaign. However, once the New Gods ultimately decree the Soulmate System as unsustainable and abolish it, causing all ties soulmates had to each other to suddenly disappear, Jade and Jasmine have some of the stronger reactions, especially when seen in their first WIP, as they redefine and rekindle their relationship without a soul mark to define them as such, re-exploring the depths of their relationship again as they become the first human explorers of the Omniscience/Multiverse. And I thought this song to be well suited for both:

Shady Bell. An archaic relic to a time not too long passed that left an ugly stain on history. It was fitting that the gang was stuck taking up residence here while they continued their run from the law.  That was the train of thought circling Sadie’s brain as she kept watch. The din of crickets, cicadas, and frogs drilled into her head as her eyes met those glowing ones of the gators floating like flotsam among reeds and lilypads. It had been months now since she had fallen in with the Van Der Linde Gang yet it was only a few steps above being dead.
