His decades-long career began when he first appeared on the Russian art scene in the middle of the 1980s, flawlessly fusing the two disciplines with his avant-garde, New Wave-inspired outfits. Along with Georgy Litichevsky, Erman Vinogradov, and Nikolay Filatov, he investigated avant-garde aesthetic manifestations as a member of the prominent Kindergarten group.

MONEY - Behind the Scenes with Olha Stepanian | JM Art Management

Olga Stepanian of Cherkasy – a city in central Ukraine – was supposed to be a seamstress but constantly thought of photography. At one point in her life, she decided that she could no longer remain silent. From behind the lens, she tells stories that do not seem to be too influenced by and are not necessarily representative of her cultural setting. “I don’t think my location affects my work much,” she says. Olga likes the fashion and portrait photographer Rodney Smith (born 1947) – famous for his minimalistic and whimsical art, Sally Mann (born 1951) – known for her provocative shots of the naked and the dead and Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004) – a pioneer of candid and street photography. These are the figures she tried to study in-depth. She made an effort to understand the thoughts and intentions behind the moments they would capture.

Carnation is a manner of painting faces, hands, and flesh in general by mixing paint in such a way that it sets the coloring tone, combining the picture in warm or cold color ranges and bold and tender velvet or impervious-porcelain tones. It is associated with glazing, but it's more than just glazing. Admittedly, nowadays there are very few artists who trouble themselves with that, whereas Remnev possesses the technique and loves it. A carnation of ones own is when facial depiction becomes personal and gives away the hand of the master before one sees the signature or the plot with the composition. Сarnation in the faces by Andrey Remnev, with its combination of the coldish pink dawn of the midnight sun countries and Cimabue or Duccio's olive-greenish, evokes a feeling of ethereal purity, as it was with the artists of the Duecento or Trecento. In this regard, Remnev appears to be a pre-Raphaelite and a much more pre-Raphaelite than Rossetti and his circle with their sensuous images that have far surpassed in their fleshiness the detested Fornarina – Raphael's stoutish baker's wife.

Nomad from birth, Guela Tsouladzé was born on November 8, 1959 in Tbilisi, Georgia, from a French mother and a Georgian father. His father was one of the first Georgian psychanalyst; but working with the conscient and subconscient of the homo sovieticus was a disputed occupation, criticized by the soviet ideology. Therefore, it required a significant dose of audacity; it’s in this context of insubordination and freedom, that Guela tirelessly repeats that he will be an artist, without ever having painted anything.
