Final: Proper Plant Care 🌻
The final stages of the Mid Program Project are upon us.
To complete this semester I decided to go out with challenging myself to do something that I have never done before.
I love plants, but we can all agree that they can be a quite hard to take care of. Often we sometimes we forget to water our plants or we mistakenly harm them by watering them too much. To help become better plant parents and after much research I have come up with a solution! Below is a photo fairly similar to what I will be creating. The idea is closely related but not the same because I am not using a real soil moisture sensor and a water pump.
I will be creating a theoretical moisture sensor that will tell when you should and should not water your plants. This phenomenal feature will save you you the worry of not properly caring for your the plants you own.
To create this new and improved version of the diagram above. I used a Arduino Uno R3, LCD 16×2, 10k Potentiometer, wires and 2 LEDs. When you begin simulating the LED turns on and displays a light so you know the component is working fine. Then when soil moisture is below the threshold value, which can be adjusted, temperature is displayed and then is checked against the threshold. If it is below the red LED will shine and “Water needed” or if it is above the green LED will shine and “No Water Needed’ will display in the Serial Monitor belows the code because I had trouble displaying it on the LCD.
Here is the Serial Monitor while simulating.
I then went on to 3D model the design. This is how the 3D model Plant Care System would look with most of the components. Theoretically, the circuit I created would be attached to the vase of the plant and this design shines a red light when moisture levels are low and you need to water your plant, and a green light will shine when there's enough moisture and the plant does not need to be watered. There is no soil moisture sensor available on Tinkercad so when connecting, the slide switch acted as the soil moisture sensor.

Homework Project #2 or Virtual Arduino Project
In this weeks assignment I will be building an trashcan that is opened with motion detection. When the sensor senses an object or human come close to the trashcan and wants to use the trashcan, the servo will open the lid of the trashcan. Then the lid will shut when the sensor senses the object has moved away.
I will be using a PIR Sensor (Passive infrared motion sensor) to detect a more accurate physical motion of a human coming in readable proximity of the trashcan.
I used Pin 13 as output and Pin 2 as input to read the motion from the sensor.
I decided to add and LED to light up when an object comes in the proximity of the PIR Sensor. To do this I just needed a few more wires and a 220 Ohm Resister. This will also be an indication that the lid of the trashcan will open.
I also included a snippet of my code below. When the sensor reads HIGH indicating someone is in front of the trashcan, it then tells the LED or the theoretical lid of the trashcan to open. But in this case the LED will simply light up as I have not added a servo to actually control the lid of the trashcan yet.
Once the person is no longer detected the LED will turn off or theoretically close the lid of the trashcan.
I also included a 3D Model of a theoretical trashcan.

3D Modeling
I have done quite a few lessons on 3D Modeling using Tinkercad. I began going through the Tinkercad workspace and all the basic operations needed to create 3D models.
I’ve learned the best way to work on 3D models is using a principle called “Divide and Conquer”. This principle says in order to model a complicated 3D object you must first divide that object into simple geometric pieces, then design those individual pieces and finally combine those individual pieces to create the more complicated object.
I will be 3D modeling a pair of glasses with the help of the Tinkercad. Below is my progression through the tutorial.

Homework Project #1: Fun with LED - The Rainbow
In this week's assignment, we will be working with the the same components as the first. But the task was to utilize LEDs and resistors only. I plan on modeling a flashing Rainbow! As you can see I have attached a black wire to ground and the orange wire to 5v.
I will be using the breadboard to recreate the blinking circuit. To play around with the delay of the LEDs lighting up to try and get an effect as thoughl the lights are turning off from the house first then the trees.
To set the speed of the blinking I added an animationSpeed variable. Below is my block of code.

Semester Canceled, But Students Prevail!
COVID-19 has caused our 2020 Spring semester to come to a harsh stop. No more face to face classes and everything has moved entirely virtual. This has caused our original group project idea to come to an end and we have now began individual projects. Through it all I refuse to look at this as the downfall of all me and my group members have accomplished so far.
We are now tasked to learn how to use an Arduino Uno R3 using Tinkercad. This site allows us to have much fun working with virtual circuits. This is one of the first circuits I have created while toying around with the and getting a better grasp of its functionalities. Below I have built and programmed this circuit to blink the LED every two seconds. This took me about 10 mins to do and I used a breadboard 1 resistor, 1 LED, wires, and lastly the Arduino itself.

Your Very Own Security System.
Now with this tangible product. You can take control of your space and what is yours and keep your space safe from intruders!
YOU WILL LITERALLY HAVE YOUR EYES ON EVERYTHING!
Me and two of my trusted partners have put our idea into actions and present to you and new and highly effective security system that will give you the ability to know when someone has entered your room and even be notified via email and text when they do. Not only will you be notified but an alarm will sound making you and anyone else around well aware that someone has entered your space.
Details on how we will implement this to come!

Where the Idea Began.
Are you tired of people sneaking into your room when you are not around? Are you tired of your things going missing or moved around and you not knowing who did it?
Well, we have come up with the perfect solution! Details to come.
