On June 2, 2015 I was given the privilege to share my story with Yanique DaCosta, who is United Nation's Miss Jamaica representative for 2015-2016. I got the message during a FES presentation on the Sunday before the interview. I delayed the interview for about 2 years because I felt that I didn't have much to show, but my gut told me that the time is now. I did the interview at a point where the original venue for #TurnUp was shut down by police and I didn't have a replacement as yet, this is 11 days before the actual event. I enjoyed expressing my thoughts with my dear friend.Sometimes you have to just take a leap! - Julian

On Sunday July 4th 2015 I successfully completed the FES Foundation's Leadership Workshop. FES is is an organization funded by the government of Germany that does social development workshops all over the World targeted at making young people better. Young leaders from various organizations including Jamaica Juniour Chamber International, I'm Glad I'm A Girl, G2K, The Women's Research and Outreach Centre participated in this life changing workshop. What is key to note is that only four workshops were ever held in Jamaica. 2012,2013, 2014 and 2015 which is the one I was selected to be a part of. Our lecturers covered topics like Global Warming, The Impact of the IMF, The Impact of Slavery, Conflict Mediation, How to Do Polictics better, and how to tackle Gender Based Discrimination in Work. Amina Blackwood-Meeks and Dr Michael Whitter were amongst the lecturers who challenged us to tackle these problems with new thinking to blaze a better trail for those to come. I met some great people who I know want better for Jamaica and I am grateful. Looking ahead. - Julian
