Hi, everyone. I hope you're doing well. I am well here. Better than last week, though my typing fingers might not agree. So, what's going on in our writing world? With Beltaine upon us, my UF/Romantasy novel Keeper of the Grove (Stewards War, book one) is on sale at ‘Zon for the next few days.

Mid-Atlantc Ridge on Iceland (Thingvellir National Park). The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is a mid-ocean ridge (a divergent or constructive plate boundary) located along the floor of the Atlantic Ocean, and part of the longest mountain range in the world (about 10,000 milesor 16,000 km). In the North Atlantic, the ridge separates the North American from the Eurasian Plate and the African Plate, north and south of the Azores Triple Junction respectively. Because of seafloor spreading and the movement of the ocean floor and of the continents outward from the ridge, the Atlantic Basin is widening at an estimated rate of 1 to 10 cm (0.5 to 4 inches) a year. The majority of the mountains and rifts this ridge has created are covered by the ocean, but the country of Iceland is the exception.

Hit up a friend of hers for info about your intended paramour 2. Usually then you'd have to get an introduction, usually at a party, where her parents could watch things like where you put those hands. Hands off, pal! *slap* ;) 3. If you survived that you could take a stroll gal, in the park. (under the watchful eye of that darned chaperone, of course! so you don't get another *slap!*) 4.If you survived all that, you might get to sit really close to her to compare notes on that opera y'all saw...   5. And make sure your wife-to-be has a lovely...large head. Of course, I am severely truncating and paraphrasing the involved process! :)  (Not actually kidding about that last item. It really was advice, see here. ) So that's how I spent my Valentine's day (until the hubby got home and we watched some movies.  Boring, aren't we? Haha). I hope y'all had a good one no matter how you spent it!

Hello dears! 

It’s bee a long time, but I have a little jar for you that’s been in my grimoire for over a year now, I just haven’t gotten around to posting it but here we are! 

I wrote quite a few tarot inspired spells at the end of 2016 and never posted them because I wanted to do the entire major arcana, but I never got to all of them and didn’t want to post them until I did. I’ve changed my mind, so here is the first! 

The Fool: A Spell Jar for New Beginnings

sea salt - cleansing and protection

ginger (dried) - adventure and new experiences

red pepper flakes - energy and enthusiasm 

mustard seed - endurance

thyme - courage 

tobacco** - confidence 

  The Fool is a card of new beginnings, fresh starts, optimism and excitement. A reminder to stay open to opportunity and surprises, fate doesn’t always look the way we expect it to (it would be so boring if it did, don’t you think?). Remember that it may not be an easy journey but it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it. This is a spell jar to help you prepare for a new journey ahead of you. To start out, light a candle that you want to seal your jar with (if you want to seal it– you can use anything you can close up and wont spill these things out) and stating your intent. Imagine the flame and the heat spreading the intent through the candle. Spend time visualizing your journey ahead and what you want for this. Layer your ingredients, imagine what each intent of each layer will mean and how it will manifest in your journey. Close up your jar, seal it up if you are going to (I have an easy tutorial here if you need help!) You can also carve sigils into the wax or draw it on the jar if you would like to! If you feel like it ever needs a kick, don’t hesitate to stick in in the full moon light, I try to do this with any jars I am working with currently or want to keep using.  My other jars can be found here, and all my other original posts here. ** - only buy tobacco if you are legally of age to do so! If you aren’t, you can omit this or substitute with cedar, nutmeg, or basil.

I happened upon this Wikipedia entry by accident, and now I can’t stop reading it. Also interesting is bands named after songs by other bands.

I have a hard enough time coming up with book titles. If I had to think of something to call myself other than myself, I don’t know that I could take the pressure.

Knowing that two great bands (Radiohead and Big Country) named themselves after Talking Heads songs will definitely help me come up with fake band names for future books. “Girlfriend is Better”? “Life During Wartime”? “The Democratic Circus”?

Or, for maximum attention, “Totally Nude.”

EDITED TO ADD: I just remembered I named Logan’s new band in SHIFT, Tabloid Decoys, after a line from the Eve 6 song, “Leech.”
