13. do they have any disdain/contempt for each other? how do they show it?

"loathing, unadultered loathing" something something. I don't think they hated each other immediately. andrea is an extremely nice and friendly person, and him and kimi got into the team at the same year, so he was excited because yay! he was getting a new teammate and they were going to be each other's first teammate in that team!

just then for his teammate to be kimi.

formula 1 is a bit complicated when it comes to it being a team or individual sports. you got the teams, and there's the team championship, and the team scores based on the points of both the drivers... but at the same time, you have the driver championship going on, and it's an individual championship, regardless of the teams. andrea saw them as a team. kimi saw them as individual drivers, and therefore, saw andrea as an authomatic rival. and kimi is fucking MEAN (that man was once a competitive figure skater, he's competitive as HELL, and he knows way too well how to mess up with his competitor's head).

(ofc there's also the factor that andrea was very friendly, and clearly wanted to get close to kimi, and kimi immediately found ways to build a wall around himself to keep andrea away. so besides his own bitter and ruthless atittude, he was being a tad bit worse than usual whenever andrea tried being nice somehow)

and tho yes, andrea is nice, he also has his own limits, and when kimi not only kept beating him on the track over and over again, but kept being rude whenever he tried to be nice, andrea lost his own patience. (but I want to be fair and say it was never really personal for kimi! andrea took it personal, like, "this guy doesn't want to be my friend HE HATES MEEEEEEE" but kimi just really sees him as a rival worth his time enough for him to worry and get competitive. he respects andrea as a driver.)

12. do they have any affection for each other? how do they show it?

and funny enough... yes! andrea and kimi spend 3 years being teammates, and despite everything, it was inevitable for them to not end up softening for each other.

they shared rooms sometimes in some hotels. they shared rooms, strategies, they shared the same team principal who was scolding them constantly. andrea had to learn to risk on the track more, kimi had to learn that they are a TEAM and him trying to fuck up andrea's race is not funny when it costs the team points. I think specially towards the end of their time as teammates they had a more complex, but also more friendly, relationship. they would still bicker and be rude to each other, but for example, they were defending the other to the media when a rude reporter brought something abt the other up. classic "that's an idiot, but he's MY idiot" stuff

plus, time gave them more opportunities to see more of each other. andrea in specific viewed kimi as simply arrogant for refusing to go to any events that involved all the grid, but with time he got to know that kimi was just extremely lonely to a point that he feels bad for the guy. and kimi just has a lot of bad habits that start to worry andrea.

despite everything, they end up bringing the best of each other as competitors.

(I wanted to share a little scene I have in my head of a grand prix that happens in emilia-romagna, and they were together at the car because they had to get at the same place, and andrea is like "wait I have to stop by at my parents' house, it'll be quick", but it's not really quick and kimi ends up staying for dinner with andrea's parents <3)

— rodrigo and alejandro

they are childhood friends! alejandro met rodrigo bc his family used to make a trip to búzios, in rio, every year to spend the summer there. they used to stay at a little hotel rodrigo's family owned. they played together a lot and it was alejandro who introduced rodrigo into racing :)) alejandro's family had much more money than rodrigo's, so ale basically funded his racing career as well. they are something else. rodrigo didn't dye his hair until they moved to europe and ale's manager said it could help marketing him

they lived together at monaco and were pretty much inseparable + were teammates! thing is, alejandro didn't take rodrigo's ambitions seriously. it seemed like alejandro thought rodrigo more of a company, a sidekick, instead of someone with his own ambitions. plus, it was much easier for alejandro to blend in in the sports environment, while rodrigo could not, and he felt neglected and left behind by alejandro. that's when the crash incident come into scene.

— kimi and andrea

andrea is the kid of moroccan parents (his father is an immigrant, his mother was born in italy but still the child of immigrants). his parents owned a restaurant and they always supported his ambitions and dreams back then when he was on kart. but formula 1 is an extremely expensive sport, so when he was getting into near professional levels, they sold the family car to support him. andrea's dream is not only his, but his family's as well, and now that he got to the top team in the grid, he can't fail at all.

kimi.... well, no one knows much abt him. andrea is confused bc they are around the same age and he doesn't remember any kart racer from his own time or formula 3 or 4 with his name. still, kimi obvsly has money enough to get into F1, even if apparently coming from nothing. and he's GOOD! he's honestly so good. and mean. and insufferable. andrea has one chance to succeed, but unfortunately, his teammate is kimi, labeled by the media the most brilliant driver since [redacted]. also, alejandro is their team principal!

dennis is the kid of a congolese immigrant mother and a father who's descendant of immigrants. his parents are divorced, and his father have always pushed dennis into a sport. and in the end, the only one he did well was kart. racing kart was fun for a while but it didn't take long for it to become tiring and exhausting for dennis. he's great at what he does, he really is, it's no surprise he have been the dominant driver on the grid for nearly a decade by now. but everything is boring. and he wonders if this is really what he should be doing with his life.

until vanessa comes into scene.

vanessa is not a rookie, and her name have been attracting attention it's been a while, but that's her first year in an actual competitive team. she's charismatic! she's funny! she even dyed her hair blonde to pay tribute to iconic driver rodrigo, dead due to a horrible accident! she's loved by all. and now, she's the first driver in years who can compete against dennis. and this is enough for him to remember why he even races in first place.

i saw the casting announcement for wuthering heights (2026) before reading the book, and assumed that heathcliff's miscasting was because the character was subtly not white, or it was mentioned here and there without much relevance to the plot beyond subtext, etc. (which still wouldn't have made it ok btw). but now i'm reading it and every single scene with him in it reads like:

'then appeared heathcliff, who was not white. he not-white-ly entered the room, where everyone else was white, unlike him. "aah! a not white!" they all shouted. he cried. "i wish i were white," he said. "don't worry, maybe your non-white parents were rich in non-white countries," said nelly. he was then called ten slurs, because he was not white, and left.'

D13: Population Data Archives (Part 2)

Since I have a whole host of new D13 characters, I figured it was time for another population data archives post. All original characters present are taken from fic Blue Blooded.

Since these were technically created before the bombing of D13 and their subsequent "independence", these are technically the Panem Population Data Archives, and there are some notable differences in information displayed. The basic premise is the same however, I think these would be the initial images shown on each profile, similar to a passport card. To access more information, a retinal/fingerprint signature is required.

Timeline: All profiles detail each character at age eighteen (spare for two) and were updated three to eight years prior to the First Rebellion.

hiiii grace!! tysm for the ask, and I'm so sorry for taking long to answer! 🥹 but here we go:

6 - whats their greatest fear?

failing. thing is, andrea's backstory surrounds the fact that his hardworking parents sacrificed everything so he could have a chance in one of the most expensive sports in the world. they got to the point of selling their car so he could keep going in the sport, and andrea feels like he has no option but succeed. he has one chance (one chance) to succeed in the team of his dreams, to make it, to pay the effort his parents have done to support his dreams, and he's so scared of failing and not being able to do that after everything they sacrificed

7 - how easy is it to make them cry?

not much, andrea is very chill going so I feel like even if he feels hurt he would try to crack a joke (and then cry in his room some hours after but that's detail really

8 - are they trusting or do they refuse to trust?

he's was very trusting in his early days in the sport ☠️ before getting more mature, and tho now he's less trusting, he's just very friendly and kinda ends up expecting most ppl to be like himself, and when they aren't, he ends up extremely disappointed
