Guity! I am guilty of smiling all the time, even when I'm pissed. I'm also guilty of looking mean all of the time. How you are perceived to others is purely objective and how you perceive yourself is the only subject with merit. People will always feel some way about you. Some people may feel no way about you at all. Both options are cool, as long as you feel a way about yourself. In my mind I smile when I'm happy and grimace when I'm upset. Fuck how others see my face. They probably think they made me feel however they perceive my face to be. Truth be told, I feel genuinely how only I feel. No worries fah wat yah tink!

Is It Just Me? 1. August Alsina, Trey Songz, Chris Brown and Usher do nothing for me. 2. Are young buls getting better looking the older I get? 3. Is plastic surgery getting more and more amazing? 4. I wonder if people who give their hair away for my bundles get paid? 5. How much? 6. Am I crazy for referring to college as the good ol days? 7. I think Drake is a borderline musical genius. 8. If you were born before 1993 all of the music you love is considered a throwback/classic.

Listening to Pandora I stumbled across my ’90s station. I started to feel my beat as soon as “Weak” aka “the unofficial black girl anthem” came on. At this very moment I realized two things:

1. Lower your voice because you are at work; 2. 25 is the new middle aged

For example: I can recite “Handsome and Wealthy”-Migos, “How Did You Get Here?”- Deborah Cox, and “All This Love”-Debarge, back to back. All from different eras but appreciated equally by me.

The reason I can appreciate all of these different eras of hip hop/r&b is because I was born and raised in the middle of these eras. In the middle of the bullshit.

But then I question myself. If I’m old enough to remember the ’90s “classics”, am I too old to hit my Schmoney or my NaeNae?

Here is a short list of things that happen when you grow up that no one will ever tell you about 1. You will make huge mistakes -you have no advisors, you just kinda start doing stuff that seems right in your head 2. You will be depressed at more than one point in your life -(see above) 3. You will become more emotional -this may depend on your sex, but you may begin crying when happy or sad. Also that empathy thing is gonna get out of control. Unlike small children, you will really care about the well being of others. 4. You will develop at least 3 personas. -the one that you have at work; -the one that shows up when you go out with your friends and act 21; -the way you are when you are comfortable. These personas can be used at any environment of your choosing 👍(be strategic) 5. Everyone in your age group only seems really really really happy. Everybody is just kind of happy. Anything I missed please hit me up....

I Don't Smoke But I Want To

I'm stressed ya’ll and sometimes I just wanna smoke weed. My paralyzing fear of me losing my job over some dumb shit always makes me scared as hell to smoke and then the week I choose to smoke, would be the week they choose to random drug test. This has never been done anywhere that I worked but this is a fear I have, irrational or not. They are legalizing the use of marijuana in so many States, so suppose I went on a vacation to that State and smoked a lil bit? Could I still be fired if they did a random drug test? It was legal to do there so…

All in all since they are legalizing the use of marijuana in so many States I think many jobs should clean up their drug testing policies.

Fuck Forever

Planning, preparation, saving, hoping…. For what? For the future? How long is the future gonna be? So wrapped in the future you forget about right now. The future isn’t guaranteed and there is no such thing as forever.

I’m making a conscious effort to live for now. The only guarantee in life is death so it it best to be happy right now. Fuck forever.

I’m at work and had to write about this.

I find it amazing that I understand references to all these pop culture things that I have never even SEEN. The thing it has in common, is its popularity with the peach race.

Story time! The admin in my office made a reference to Ross, a character on Friends. EVERYONE laughs and I instinctively did too. The only issue I have is that I have never seen Friends *kanye shrug*. I know of the character but have never seen the show.

The admin was able to make a pop culture reference that she was sure everyone would get and I never make pop culture references because nobody in my snow covered office would ever get it. May not be a big deal to you but this is huge to me because I discovered “hey it’s really important to understand white people shit!” If I blurted out “who is Ross and what does he do?” I would get “oh my god you have never seen Friends“. Let my black ass mention Martin and Gina…I would get so many wtf faces and they would feel no way about it. “We don’t have to know about the black shows”. But I HAVE to indulge in these “that’s what she said” ass jokes. Next time somebody ask about something due the previous week, I cannot wait to say “about a week ago!!!!”
