Everyone is always talking about the sylladex and captchalogue systems being pointless, annoying, and a slog to get through. Everyone is always wrong. This is what Homestuck is about.
Why make an action take one panel/suggestion when it can take seven? - Wait, actually Hussie's commentary is literally what I said but better.

Everyone and their author talks about the iconography re: the arms. But I also want to bring attention to it. I don't think this was an intentional feeling, because you can kinda see Hussie settle into it as their MSPA art style evolves, but I love how it makes the kids feel like game pieces. Like you could fit them in one of those cars from the Life board game. This is also a prominent visual feature in Problem Sleuth (which I fucking love), and I think its emphasized even more with the puzzle game/point and click setting.

This page mentions her hobbies as paranormal lore and being an amateur magician. Obviously, the magician thing is rarely if ever brought up past Act 1-2. But is she really into paranormal lore or just Ghostbusters? I don't think she's ever demonstrated knowledge of spirits or ghosts. Poser emo girl

First reader suggestion!
'John Egbert' was decided simply because that was the first name to be suggested, no user votes, no author bias, no narrative importance at all, but its one of the most meaningful names in all of fiction to me. Not like in terms of its meaning, more like Egbert and I are the same person in two different existences. (Doubles are fine btw.)

First Panel! First Page!
I have read Homestuck fully twice before and Act 1 maybe half a dozen times. Act 1 used to be my favorite, but right now its feeling like a slog. I'm hoping things pick up once June finally leaves her fucking room. Just kidding I love you June. And I love watching your cute little face peer around the room.

June’s Homestuck Reread Liveblog
I'm once again sad in a way that only consuming my favorite childhood media will fix. Homestuck (the emotion) is so vast I think I might be able to soft reset my mind or hopefully even die.
I’ve put together some goals for this reread and liveblog:
To put my thoughts from this reread in the same place as every thought I can remember from previous reads- a meeting of a multitude of selves, all dedicated only to the Sisyphean task of reading Homestuck
To reintroduce myself to the active side of the Homestuck fandom and get involved with fanart, theorycrafting, discourse if I’m feeling like a bitch, etc.
To make a landing page for all of the Homestuck fanworks and Homestuck-adjacent media that is meaningful to me. After I finish HS proper (or maybe after PS, who knows the order I’ll read these things) I’ll probably make a masterpost with a bunch of links to post-canon content and general things I might like to read next.
Like every other reread liveblog, I will be using The Unofficial Homestuck Collection. This is a far better alternative to homestuck dot com for a lot of reasons, but I’m going as far as to say you need this app to properly read the comic since this actually preserves the Flash animations and games. Plus, it has a lot of the old MSPAforums and Formspring posts and stuff archived, which is definitely something I wanted to explore more during this read.
Also there are accessibility mods and general improvement tweaks available! I have ones that automatically translate morse code and alert you if there’s an easter egg on the page. There’s a ton of features created to fine tune you’re reading experience, I literally cannot recommend the collection enough.
I also want to recommend Homestuck Made This World, a liveread podcast from the Ranged Touch network. One of the hosts has been a longtime MSPA fan, while the other is a brand new reader, so you get to hear a fresh perspective as well as the hindsight of an old Homestuck.
Most of the Ranged Touch stuff is exactly my shit, but I want to emphasize this podcast because I’m going to be listening along as I reread the comic. Like everything else I reference, I’ll be citing them whenever I bring something up from their show.
All of my posts will be tagged under #JHSRRLB as well as by act (#A2, #I, #A6A6I1, etc.) and I'll try to otherwise tag as comprehensively I can including external references, characters, subjects, ships, and fucking whatever else there is to be tagged.
If you're still reading this, check out the rest of the junedavekat fat blunt coalition- my dave boyfriend is planning a reread of Homestuck as well, and its my karkat boyfriend's birthday :B

Okay, so I'm finally going to get this reread underway, but first I wanted to write down a comprehensive list of all the mods I have installed with The Unofficial Homestuck Collection :]
The Homestuck Slur Replacement Project : replaces all uses of the R-slur and all negative uses of the word autism (which is all of them, in this comic's case). I think there's some other changes, but they aren't noted anywhere in the 'about' section.
Magic MacGuffins: replaces the term 'juju' with the term 'magic macguffin'. This idea has roots in the podcast I shared above.
New Alternian Alphabet: replaces the Daedric alphabet with the alphabet used in Hiveswap and other official published media.
Morse Translator: replaces all Morse code with readable English.
Damara: translates Damara's Japanese to readable English, in-game.
Easter Eggs: notifies you when a Flash page contains an easter egg.
Homestuck Commentary: adds author commentary from the book releases, as well as some optional fan commentary.
Rex Duodecim Angelus: adds a link to the bottom of the home page where you can watch the fan-made animation Rex Duodecim Angelus. You have the option to include it in the comic as well.
Puzzlestuck: adds a button to the link of the home page where you can play the fan-made game Puzzlestuck.
bcplayer: adds a music player that shuffles music from the bandcamp page. This mod is reason enough to download the app in the first place.
Homestuck Epilogues & Homestuck^2: adds that post-canon content to the app.
