I will once more remind y'all:
The narrative that rape happens in public spaces between strangers harms people - especially women!
Whenever you feed into this narrative, you are actively harming women and survivors of any form of SA. You are making it harder for SA survivors to pursue justice if they try to.
This narrative - that is so very common - makes it that in public consciousness rape is something a neferious man (often racially coded) waits for a pretty woman at some public place (a park, a parking lot, or a public toilett) to then rape that woman. Implying that rape a) happens between strangers, b) has to do with attractiveness, and c) happens mainly in public spaces.
None of these things are true. Sure, those cases do happen, but they are very, very rare. The vast majority of rape happens between people who know each other. Family members, friends, colleagues etc. It happens most likely at home, in a car, or in a place both people often frequent together.
This wrong narrative you perpetuate when you agitate against racial minorities, trans people or folks with mental illness mainly makes it that women, men and children surviving SA will not be believed, because the public understanding of rape remains as "a neferious stranger lurking in wait for a pretty victim to then use physical violence to rape".
This is a narrative actively constructed to allow rapists - mostly cis men - to get away with it, by going: "Oh, but he would never do it like that." and "But that is not real rape!"
You are harming people with this. Just stop it. This is not feminist. This is not helping your fucking cause. It is harming it.

"let people enjoy things" is about like. danganronpa or hannibal or something else like that. not the antisemetic wizard game that's going to be funding anti-trans campaigns in the uk.

there was a great study a few years that went into the whole "ppl online are bigger jerks than irl cuz theres a virtual wall and no repercussions" and the researchers were expecting to see that be the case but it turns out that people who were really angry or argumentative online were also found to just be assholes in person and people who were pretty patient and nice online were found to be patient and nice in real person as well
and it just debunked that whole cynical idea that people will naturally be mean if theres no punishment for it

For all of the northerners that stood up for Texas during our freeze and said, "Don't make fun of them, they've never dealt with this before. Their infrastructure isn't made for snow and freezing."
This one is for you.
Where I live 108°F with 80% humidity with no wind is normal.
Pacific North West is dealing historic best waves 35-40°C or 95-105°F.
First of all. Don't make fun of them for bitching about the heat. Just like Texas isn't built for a freeze and our pipes burst, Pacific North West isn't built for heat and a lot of their homes don't have AC.
If you live somewhere with a high humidity like 80+ HUMIDITY IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. The "humidity makes it feel cooler" is a lie once it gets beyond a point.
If you live somewhere with a lower humidity, misters are nice to cool off outside.
Once you get over 90°F (32°C) a fan will not help you. It's just pushing around hot air. (I mean if you can't afford a small AC unit because they're expensive as hell, by all means a fan is better than nothing).
If you have pets, those portable AC units aren't safe. If your pets destroy the outtake thing, it'll leak CO2. Window units are safer.
Window AC units will let mosquitoes or other small bugs in. Sucks, but that's life.
Now is not the time to me modest. If you have to cover for religious reasons, by all means. If you don't, I've seen people wear short shorts and a swim top. It's not trashy if it keeps you from getting heat stroke.
If you do have to cover up for religious reasons, look for elephant pants or something similar. They're made with a breathable material.
Shade is better than no shade, but that shit it just diet sun after some point. Don't think shade will save you from heat stroke.
I know the "drink your water" is a fun meme now, but if you're sweating excessively you need electrolytes. Drink Gatorade, Powerade, or Pedialite PLEASE. I don't care if you're fucking sitting in one spot all day. That shit WILL save you from heat stroke.
Most importantly. RESEARCH THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEAT STROKE AND HEAT EXHAUSTION PLEASE!
If you're diabetic and can't drink Gatorade, mix water, fruit juice, and either lite salt or pink salt
If you can afford it, cover windows with thick curtains to insulate the house
If you have tile floors, lay on them with skin to tile contact. If you don't, laying your head on cool counters works too.
If the temperature where you're at is hotter than your body temperature, don't wear heat wicking clothing. Moisture wicking is safe though.
Check your medication labels. Many make you more susceptible to sun and heat
-Room temperature water will get into your body faster. This is something I learned doing marching band in high summer in Georgia, and it saved all of our asses. Sip it, don't gulp it, especially if you're getting into the red; same goes for whatever fluid you're drinking. And just in general drink during the day.
-If you are moving from an air conditioned space to an un-air conditioned space, if at all possible try to make the shift gradual. When my dad and I were working outside and in un-ac houses a few years ago, he'd turn the air down to low in the truck about ten-fifteen minutes before we got where we were going. This way your body doesn't go from low low temps to high temps. S'bad for you.
-If you can, keep your lights off during the day. Light bulbs may not generate a lot of heat, but the difference is noticeable when it gets hot enough. I literally only turn my bedroom light on in the evening when it gets too dark.
Don't be afraid to just like... pour water on yourself if you need to. The evaporation will cool you off.
Put your hand to the cement for 15 seconds. If you can't handle the heat, it'll burn your dog's paws. Don't let them walk on it.
Dogs with flat faces are more prone to heat stroke. Don't leave them out unsupervised.
Frozen fruit is delicious in water.
Wet/Cold hat/handkerchief on your head/neck will help you stay cool.
Pickle juice is great for electrolytes! You can even make pickle juice Popsicles!
Heat exhaustion is more, "drink water and get you cooled off." Heat stroke is more "Oh my god call 911."
Image Description provided by @loveize
[Image description: an infographic showing the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The graphic is labeled "Heat Dangers: First Warning." Signs of heat exhaustion: faint or dizzy, excessive sweating, cool, pale, clammy skin, rapid, weak pulse, muscle cramps. If you think you or someone else may be experiencing heat exhaustion, get to a cool, air-conditioned place, drink water if conscious, and take a cool shower or use cold compress. Signs of heat stroke: throbbing headache, no sweating, red, hot, dry skin, rapid, strong pulse, may lose consciousness. If you think you or someone else may be experiencing heat stroke, call 911. End description]
Be safe.

as someone who is only really a level 1 autistic, but with my adhd it packs a double whammy, i 100% agree. its not fun being autistic. i was able to mask a lot of my symptoms for a very long time, or enough of them passed off as adhd that it didnt matter to my parents, but it isnt fun being autistic. i struggle everyday, and i can’t even begin to imagine how people who have higher support needs than me are struggling. it isn’t a superpower. i see the world differently, yes, but this world wasn’t made for me, for all of us. it isn’t fun. it sucks. and its infiuriating to be told that i just need to embrace it. cuz embracing it just leads to me losing my NT friends half the time. its not a quirk, or a superpower, its a disability. im not ashamed of it, but it is one. and NTs need to understand that.
I have a big problem with these Autism themed shirts that people, especially big corporations, have been selling recently.
I've recently seen a photo, or a post, about Spencer's selling a whole rack of autism themed clothes. Some about how one is undiagnosed, presumably with autism, but they say "sure" anyway. And about how autism is a superpower.
And all of this is just so offensive for me personally. I don't know about the rest of you guys and your opinions, you are free to have your views but i don't know them so i may accidently offend you with this post because i am being very blunt and this is not a queued post. Anyway, to get to the point.
I really hated the "Autism is my superpower" shirt more than the rest because it's like all of our campaigning to convince NTs that autism is a disability has just come to a waste or that people have essentially just ignored what we were saying, instead to focus on people who have self diagnosed their autism diagnosis.
Now, i have no real problem with self diagnosis as a whole, i have a big and real concern about how NTs seem to listen more to those with self diagnosed autism than to those with really diagnosed autism, even those with diagnosed level 1 autism or self diagnosed low support needs autism all the way to those with level 3 diagnosis or high support needs autism. Because i can only assume how this has came to be, and it is because of some self diagnosers, accidentally or not, spreading their views as the end all be all opinion on autism.
But this whole post is not for me to rant about self diagnosers. My real problem here is the way stores are portraying autism and how they're using it to sell their products, which seems very trendy nowadays apparently. And it's honestly kind of pissing me off something fierce if i think about it, to be honest too. Because autistics struggle with autism, autism is rightfully a disability, and these shirts, in particular, just invalidates everything that we have done for both ourselves, the autism community and/or for others.
Especially for me, it's quite offensive and invalidating for me, as a person with moderate autism who hated having autism but less so hates having autism nowadays and who has worked hard to be where she is now. These shirts are essentially claiming that my ABA, IBI, and intensive speech therapy programs from childhood weren't needed at all because my autism is just a quirk, which then leads me to think that my autism isn't disabling and that i shouldn't complain because it's just a personality quirk, nothing else.
And that, my perspective and how i have interpretted it, has really made me sad. All of our progress, our collective progress with challenging autism symptoms and dealing with ableism from NTs, seems to be wasted. These shirts just tell me that we've done nothing to sway the NTs' opinions on autism, no matter how hard we tried. This is, again, just my interprettation and how i see these new trendy shirts.
Also, this post went on for longer than i expected, but i did get my thoughts and feelings out. But i wonder about you guys' opinions as well, what are you thoughts on these shirts i have discussed on this post? I am willing and happy to listen to everyone's opinions.

Thinking of that post about nonpartnering aromantic people and the cost of living... for me, as a full-time wheelchair user who needs care, there's a whole other layer to it.
As a wheelchair user, I can not just live in any flat. I need enough space to maneuver my chair, as well as a accessible bathroom, including a grab bar on each side of the toilet and a stepless shower that fits a shower chair. Not to mention the kitchen - if I want any independence in making food for myself, I need to be able to reach not only the fridge but also the cabinets (meaning cabinets at a pedestrian's eye level are a no-go, which consequently means I need a bigger room for the same amount of storage space). If I want to participate in any of the actual cooking, I also need a roll-under stove and sink. That all means I need a bigger flat than a non disabled person, as well as the extra requirements I just mentioned, plus a step-free entrance.
That already excludes most of the more affordable flats - those are often old, small, and at the second or higher floor without a lift. So, just because I'm physically disabled, I need to pay more just to life somewhere. And because I'm nonpartnering(?), I won't have a second person to share these costs with.
However, a lot of living arrangements specifically made for disabled people count on disabled people being not partnered.
An example: I'm trying to move into my first real, own flat in the near future. I recently found an apartment complex that was specifically made for physically disabled people and has always carers present that you can call on whenever you need help with something (on top of the scheduled care you can book separately). This sounds great for me because I don't really need all day one-on-one care, but too much care to just have someone come over two or three times a day. Now, it's still not clear if I'll rent a flat there for a number of different reasons, but if I'll live there, I'll have to be living alone. And not just for a short while - I would need to make some alterations to live there, so it would only be worth it if I live there long-term. Besides, moving out of that flat again into a normal flat without such an on-call carer system in place would mean I'd need more planned care again, and I'd need these additional costs to be covered first.
Similarly, people who are institutionalised or live in group homes are also expected to be single.
I think that captures the kind dichotomy of disabled people's struggles with amatonormativity pretty well. On one hand, we're under even more pressure to partner up than non disabled people. We're expected to find someone to help us cover the extra cost and provide the care we need (all while seen as undesirable in society). This creates a dependency of the disabled partner in regard to the non disabled partner, which can trap the disabled partner in the relationship.
On the other hand, if we need to rely on outside help because we aren't partnered or we need more support than our partner can provide, we are forced into a structure that doesn't have space at all. Suddenly, we're not only exempt from amatonormativity but are actively excluded from taking part in adult dating. (Not to mention that sex with a disability is still a taboo topic, but that would be too much to discuss here.) This does not only make many disabled people unhappy, it also plays a role in our infantilisation and dehumanisation.
We can't win.
