Ok fuck it guys it’s been a little under a week. I LIKE THIS ALBUM. I want to be a hater but I can’t. I actually like it. I hate hokey feelings and dealing with my emotions but in this climate of anxiety, uncertainty and the feeling of the impending collapse of Western civilization THIS ALBUM COMFORTS ME.

DE PROFOUNDIS BOREALIS, PEACEFIELD, MISSILIA AMORI. This world sucks but we have too much love in our hearts to let the darkness kill us god fucking dammit. This album makes me proud to be a freak.

Skeleta side A is great. Side B is ok. For me it’s kinda how I feel about Chromatica, all the songs are listenable, I think it’s interesting and good for an artist to explore interests and noises outside their regular brand but would I fight you in a parking lot for her honour? No. I’d defend Impera with my life tho.

I like hard rock but I just didn’t expect a whole solid album of that. And I feel the lyricism isn’t as cheeky as previous albums imo. I miss the instrumentals. Thematically I just feel it’s weaker than the previous albums. It’s a big problem thinking about this one, because I LOVE 1-5 sooooooo much.

The solos FUCK tho as per usual, and honestly I think every rock song can be saved by having an EVIL SOUNDING guitar noise which saves this album for me. Skeleta just doesn’t grip me as hard as the first five albums.

It’s so fun watching people scramble around at the possible “retcon” of Nihil being brother to I, II, and III, when it was probably Mr. Tobias “I made up lore because the label wanted me to” Forge misspeaking.

Like, everything from the Chapters forward wouldn’t make sense, literally the first three papas were called his progeny and specifically his sons in Chapter 2.

So please, let the Swedish man misspeak about lore when he likes his music and costuming more

I actually love Ghost because in the age of Game of Thrones Reddit theories, multi-universe cinematic universes, and 4D chess plot twists it’s so refreshing this guy…is just playing it by ear. I do not believe Tobias for one second he master planned this whole thing. I think he planned it the same way I believe in the future vaguely I’m gonna buy a pair of crocs. He does not remember his own lore cause it’s so unserious. You think this man has a brand book? DnD character charts listing their heights and shoe sizes? He is just making shit up and I stan.

I have it, it’s also quite similar to a Lamassu, an Assyrian diety / protective cryptid. I bought it weirdly cause I had a little Bible guide as a child and I remember seeing a picture of a statue of one as an example of a pagan god worshipped by Nimrod and the people of the ancient city Nineveh.

also this might be an unpopular opinion, but i think MOST people are actually completely able to "consume" a piece of a media without anaylzing it through a shipping lense, but i just think they than aren't likely to be posting that analysis on archiveofourown. i think for the most people what's happening is that people are like. going on fandom websites and communities and getting really annoyed they're seeing too much yaoi or whatever, and it's like there's alot of fast food at mcdonalds too, i'm sure the people eating there don't have anything else going on in there lives either
