all the interns gathering around the nurse station because Abbot’s spouse is here
she’s pretty, looks a few years younger but not that much younger, she’s a redhead and has freckles all over her nose and she seems so sweet, talking to Dana, who clearly knows her well
she drops off something for Abbot and then is on her way, saying goodbye to Dana and Robby, who hugs her and promises they’ll visit soon
they’ve only heard things about Abbot’s spouse, the occasional comment here and there about how they met in med school, how they’re also a doctor but not much else
one day she comes in looking for Jack, Mohan is the one who approaches her because Dana is busy, the woman chuckles when she’s called “Mrs. Abbot” says Jenna is just fine, no need for formalities
they make small talk after Samira says she’s a resident and Jenna asks how Robby and Jack are as mentors, listens intently to Samira, clearly genuinely interested
when Dana comes back she greets the woman and calls her “her favourite Abbot”
it’s the quiet lull of 2am when Samira runs into Abbot in the break room and as they make small talk she says how nice his wife is
Jack is like what the fuck?, because this is the first news he has about having a wife, he asks her to clarify, and Samira says she met Jenna, a little confused at Jacks sudden laugh
that’s my sister, and yeah okay, Samira may’ve fucked up and she needs to tell the others asap before they fuck up too
she apologizes, says how she assumed Jenna was his wife because they’d never met his wife and when Dana referred to her as Abbot they just guessed
Jack takes pity on her, says he actually has a husband and in hindsight it shouldn’t have been that surprising because Abbot had never used female pronouns to refer to his spouse, or talked about a woman, they all just assumed and now she feels kinda bad
he also, just for the sake of amusement, says they have actually met his husband because he works at the hospital
it turns into a witchhunt to see who can figure out faster who Abbot’s husband is
the nurses and anyone who knows Robby is his husband are strictly forbidden of giving any hints to the kids and it turns into a floor wide bet (it’s Mel who figures it out first)
#It would turn into the biggest betting pool they’ve ever had#Abbot rants for weeks about how he can’t believe they thought he was straight#which Robby finds very amusing since abbot is literally the definition of straight-passing

Miscommunication will always be a huge part of Robby and Abbot’s relationship because they know each other so well that they can usually communicate without speaking, so they don’t really see the point in doing so.
#So so many disagreements that would’ve been solved by a 1 minute conversation#But NO these bitches are stupid instead#the pitt#jack abbot#rabbot#robby robinavitch#michael robby robinavitch x reader#robby x abbot

Robby and Jack are just hanging out in their apartment, watching tv or getting ready for bed or whatever, when fireworks start going off outside.
Jack says that he’s fine, but Robby notices his shoulders tensing and his eyes getting that far away look. Clearly, he’s on the verge of a PTSD attack and the fireworks don’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
So, Robby goes and gets his phone and speaker and just starts absolutely blasting the loudest rock music he can find.
It’s enough to get Jack out of his head a little (even if only to say “what the fuck?”). Then, just to seal the deal, Robby turns to him and asks him to dance.
Now Jack’s really wondering what the fuck is going on because it’s late and this is far from something they normally do, but he’s not about to turn down dancing with his wonderful, amazing boyfriend.
The two of them dance together until they forget why they started in the first place. They’re laughing and tripping all of each other and it’s terrible and terrific all at once.
They don’t even notice that the fireworks have stopped.

Do y'all ever wonder if the reason that Pope didn't take to J immediately, despite knowing that he's Julia's kid, is bc he can't see Julia in J.
Like he looks at this kid and he doesn't see a trace of the sister that he loved so much. All he sees is Baz. And while yes, Baz is his brother and he loves him, there's this little kernel of resentment there too bc Baz took Julia from him, got her pregnant, and then didn't even stick by her. And not only that, but then he turned around when he couldn't have the girl he wanted (Lucy) and took away the girl that he knew Pope was in love with too.
(and no none of these women are objects without autonomy but it's not exactly as if that's the way the Cody boys were raised to think)
So he looks at his nephew and all he can see is all these things that Baz has done to hurt him bc it's like looking into a mirror into the past and seeing a younger version of him
#Not only did he take all those things from Pope#but he acted like he was doing him a goddamn favor#he treated pope like a dog- expecting blind loyalty in exchange for baz “taking care” of him except that baz never actually did that#he took away his spot in the family under the assumption that pope “couldn’t handle” the responsibility#and took away cath cause pope “couldn’t handle” being in a relationship anyway#I’m pretty sure there’s even a scene where he says to Lucy that pope wouldn’t survive without him- the audacity of that man#He constantly treated pope like a chore/an annoyance (ESPECIALLY in the s6 flashbacks)#And even after all that pope still says that baz was 1 of only 3 ppl who were ever nice to him- IM SICK

I want it on record that for many seasons I was staunchly against carter/luka I did not understand the appeal and I was pretty much convinced that it was a case of a classic two white guys chemistry mirage but you know what. their post africa dynamic is really a lot of fun. carter crossed a war torn country to retrieve the body of a guy he barely liked at the time. luka was perhaps the only person that understood carter’s grief over joshua and gave the going away speech at carter’s goodbye party. they’re pen pals <3. carter accidentally almost homewrecked luka and abby by luring luka away with the promise of getting sweaty in the desert and almost dying together. it’s awesome.

I love how there’s so many different ways that Robby and Abbot’s relationship could’ve developed over the years, but I think my favorite one is ‘bad timing’:
They’re friends in med school and want to be something more, but Robby’s repressed as hell and by the time he gets his shit together, Abbot’s leaving for the army.
They’re apart for years, then meet again as residents at PTMC, except Abbot is married at this point. Robby isn’t a home wrecker, so he settles for just being friends.
Fast forward a few years, Abbot’s wife dies, which sends him spiraling. Robby is there for him a lot, which doesn’t do anything to make his feelings go away, but he’s not about to try anything when Abbot’s grieving and so emotionally compromised.
More time passes and Abbot works through his grief. Him and Robby are really getting close, and Robby thinks he might finally have a chance. Unfortunately, that’s all ruined when Abbot gets deployed again.
They try to write and keep in touch, but it’s hard. Robby worries constantly, especially when he doesn’t hear from Abbot for weeks on end. Eventually, he gets a call from someone at a military hospital, who tells him that Abbot is back home at the expense of his leg.
Abbot is angry, he doesn’t take his recovery well. Robby tries to be there for him, even though Abbot keeps pushing him away. After a while, Robby decides that it’s clear Abbot doesn’t want him and to leave well enough alone.
Abbot, meanwhile, does recover. It’s difficult, but he manages, he goes to therapy, he gets better. Robby is his best friend, and if Abbot had it his way, they would’ve been together years ago. As much as he wants to tell Robby about his feelings now that he might be stable enough for a relationship, Robby doesn’t seem interested. He dates Janey, then Collins, and honestly Abbot doesn’t think he has a shot. Even though both of those relationships crash and burn, Abbot figures it’s been too long and that Robby probably only likes him as a friend.
The years go by, they’re both in their fifties and have pretty much given up on relationships. They’re both the only stable relationship that each other has, and they love each other, but both of them think that it’s only platonic on the other person’s part and would rather eat glass than talk about their feelings.
Then, something happens. One of them gets hurt, gets threatened by a patient, stands a little too close the edge of the roof, and the other just decides to take a leap of faith and go for it because “holy shit, I almost lost him, what have I been doing this whole time?”
#Yeah I love some angst with an eventual happy ending#Lbr these bitches would be the ultimate push/pull relationship for literal decades#The entirety of PTMC is waiting for them to finally get their shit tg#the pitt#jack abbot#robby robinavitch#michael robby robinavitch x reader#rabbot#robby x abbot

Jack having a tiny, ID sized, pic of baby Robby in his wallet from his med school days

specifically thinking about this Carter’s ID pic because look at that cutie patootie, that’s his husband™
#Jack loves all of Robby’s hospital ID photos and insists on keeping the old ones whenever he gets a new one#meanwhile Robby hates them and doesn’t understand why Jack wants a tiny grainy photo of him from 20 yrs ago

I'm reading this rabbot fic right now where Jack is heavily "stray dog coded" and that reminded me of Langdon and his ongoing dog motif in The Pitt (with him being Robby's "dog").
AND THEN it hit me, Robby liking Langdon and showing so much support towards him (in comparison to the rest of the cast) because Langdon reminds him of younger Abbot (or at least the way Abbot acted towards him) - the same way Abbot likes Mohan because she reminds him of younger Robby.

Abbot being able to fall asleep practically anywhere due to being the army means that he absolutely falls asleep on Robby (his shoulder, his lap, wherever) most of the time.

single dads rabbot
Robby has a little girl and Jack has a little boy roughly the same age
Jack is lateeeee as fuck to drop his son at the daycare near the hospital which means he’s also fucking late to his first day of work, he runs into Robby at the daycare gates after getting scolded by the teachers about how he has to be on time and when Robby offers a compassionate smile and asks if he’s new to the area Jack is like “oh yeah, I was on time but some fucking asshole parked his car like a dumbass and half of their bumper is blocking the disabled spot”
Robby goes red because that dumbass is him he was late and no one ever uses the disabled spot to drop their kids off!
before he can apologize or anything Robby sees Jack is wearing scrubs underneath his jacket and asks Jack if he’s a doctor and when Jack tells him he’s supposed to start that exact same day at a new job Robby feels a sense of dread because they’re supposed to be getting a new attending that day at PTMC
he apologizes when they both get to their cars and Jack gives him an unimpressed look when he gets in the car that was blocking the disabled spot
it’s a bit uncomfortable when they both arrive at the hospital at the same time but they roll with it, Robby eases Jack into his first day even when he doesn’t really need to because Jack jumps into action asap and works so damn well he has no doubt on why Adamson hired him
when they hit a quiet stretch Jack a bit hesitantly approaches him and asks him what arraignment he makes for his daughter because he’s a single dad and just moved to a city he knows no one in and his sister is currently helping out, picking his son up from daycare until he gets home from work but once she leaves he’s completely alone
Robby recognizes the slight panic and stress of being a single parent with no support and tells Jack he has a nanny, offers to ask her if she’d be willing to pick both their kids up or find another nanny that could do the same for Jack
they click immediately, not just inside the ER but also outside, Robby shows Jack around the city, all the child friendly spaces, the activities he can do with his son to the point they hang out with their kids on most days they have off, he even gives Jack a quick rundown of the daycare gossip
and their kids also love being together and playing together to the point sometimes people at the park or other places think they’re siblings or twins (even when they look nothing alike)
