WIP WEDNESDAY

Let him go to keep him close 

Rufus scratched his head questioningly.

"And you're sure this will work for you, old boy? Aren't you going to keep pining after him? Friendship is cool, but is that enough for you?"

David stood behind the bar in his garden, sipping a drink. He just nodded but didn't answer. 

Rosen and Trevelyan had been friends for ages, they talked about just about everything. Even about relationships and special problems. But Rufus had never seen his old buddy so out of control over a man. This time it seemed to have really got to him, Cupid's arrow had hit its target 100%! Nevertheless, David informed his buddy today that he would no longer try to win Dorian's heart, he just wanted to be a good friend to the handsome colleague.

Was that really possible for the old romantic Trevelyan? 

"I'm not his type, he didn't literally say it to my face, but he just likes Yadiel too much and that type of man in general. Tall and striking, powerful and charismatic. That's not me! I'm more like buddy material. And to be perfectly honest, it's totally cool to be able to call such a fascinating and lovely person like Dorian my friend. I'll get over the rest. I'm just seeing other people again and sex helps a lot to get my mind off things." David sounded quite calm and apparently he was serious. 

They both enjoyed a few drinks together, talking about sports and movies, politics and nonsense. 

"I'm going to invite Dorian over more often now. He needs friends around here. You'll like him, he's funny!" David's eyes sparkled with excitement when he talked about his colleague. 

"Then don't you have to invite that ass Yadiel too? If such a dandy is invited as well, I prefer not to come. In all friendship, Dave, but I have a bad feeling about adulterers." Rufus' green eyes stared in David's direction. 

Just as David was about to reply, Rufus continued speaking.

"Okay, Dorian is the cause of the adultery, but at least he seems nice. Him, maybe just for your sake, I'll give a chance."

Trevelyan's face showed sorrow, but he remained silent. 

David wanted to integrate Dorian into his circle of friends. But was this simply possible? Dorian was in love with Iva Yadiel. Having an affair with a married man was nothing out of the ordinary, besides Yadiel had an open relationship with his wife. So Dorian wasn't the bad guy in this love game, was he?! Iva couldn't help it either, monogamy wasn't for everyone. There were so many forms of love and relationships. And Ms Yadiel seemed cool and composed and she was really enchanting with others. 

David had been allowed to meet her at the gala and she impressed him with her Spanish charisma and her fetching politeness. 

Maybe everything was okay the way it was for those involved. 

Okay okay, David had to admit to himself, he had hoped that Dorian and he... no, this was just the wishful thinking of an hopeless romantic in love....

"Hey, you dreamer, is there another drink or what? Where are your thoughts and your manners? Hahahaha..." Laughed Rufus.

And David mixed another non-alcoholic drink for his old buddy.
