This Gilded Abyss by Rebecca Thorne (I think you'll really really like this one too! A soldier has to be a bodyguard for her ex-girlfriend, who happens to be the daughter of the country's ruler. Political intrigue and magic metal and a doomed submarine ride and excellent smut. Warning though, it ends on a MEAN cliffhanger and the second book isn't out yet)
