The fact that the crew in the opening of Pillars Of Eternity: Deadfire refer to you as 'captain' implies the first part of the voyage was kinda weird.
Like, you're a sailor looking for work, and so you take a job for some noble sailing from the Dyrwood to the Deadfire. Standard stuff. But you rock up to find a farmer carrying a statue, and the statue is like "Hi! I hired you on behalf of your new captain. Who's currently kind of dead. But hopefully they'll get better." And it's weird, but the statue is paying your bills, so I guess whoever she says is the captain is the captain.
So you get underway, and the 'captain' is doing exactly 0 captaining (not that it's really their fault), but both the farmer and the statue with the money are still insisting they're the captain, and the boatswain is content just being a boatswain, so everyone just kind of accepts that the captain is mostly-kind-of-dead.
So you make it to the Deadfire, the statue making pretty much all the decisions while insisting they're just a steward, when you run into some pirates. Alright, ordinary problem at least. So the pirate captain wants to speak to your captain, so Eld Engrim goes to fetch them, which means 'go fetch the statue because the captain's dead', which means 'go fetch the farmer because what's the statue going to do' (to be fair, there's worse people to handle pirates than a burly war veteran). And out struts the captain like they actually are the captain, and haven't been pretty much dead the whole damn trip. And they fight off the pirates.
Just in time for the storm to pick up and drive you onto the coastline. You eventually pick yourself up and start to regroup, and up comes the captain, who is indeed no longer a corpse, going "Hi! I'm your captain now? Cool. Pleasure to meet you. Also, I'm the Herald Of Berath and we're chasing Eothas." And the rest of the voyage only gets weirder.
And there's a slight chance they're accompanied by the small child they kidnapped.

Hi hi! So, I've recantly installed a few mods for stardew valley, and I can definitely say my favorite one is Eli and Dylan by Tenebrous Nova on nexus! I absolutely adore these 2 dorks and wanted to draw them :D
Tumblr media
Also Dylan has the coolest sweater I've ever seen and I needed to draw it as well
Tumblr media
ALSO also I may be a little bit in love with Eli
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The second one is him and my farmer <3)
And I just needed to add something silly so
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway! I would highly reccomend the mod! I think both of them are very interesting and add a lot to the playthrough. They're part of the east scarp mod and I think they fit there very well. And I just though there wasn't enough love for these 2 out there.

Gelatin is made of animal proteins, does this mean you could use necromancy on jello cubes and have a small, jiggly undead army?
gods i hope so

One day when I was at the Crimson Badlands outpost and caught Jadu mentioning that "he wished he could share something to eat and drink with us, but their (Castle Village) provisions are limited." And it made me want to go back to the farm, pick up one of the mini-fridges and put it right at the outpost so Farmer could put food and water in there for all the mages/adventurers.

Sticking a few bullet-pointed aumaua biology + a couple of sociology headcanons behind the readmore (incl. some to do with birth/reproduction):
They have a nictitating membrane that deploys while swimming underwater and in combat, among other situations where the eyes might need protection.
They can also roll their eyes WAY back in their heads to protect them, though this leaves them temporarily blind (stealing from great white shark biology here because it’s fun - this adaptation probably exists because great white sharks DON’T have a nictitating membrane, but fantasy species = I can do what I want forever).
They have tapetum lucidum and can see quite well in low light. This adaptation allows Kana to carry on reading late into the night - and also to scare the shit out of his companions when they stumble out of their tents to be greeted by a pair of bleary, faintly glowing eyes.
They can see for long distances underwater and have better vision in murky/gloomy water conditions.
Their range of colour vision is narrower/less sensitive than most kith and they’re more prone to colourblindness.
An obvious one, but: the teeth grow back! It takes a couple of weeks to fully regrow a single tooth; longer if it’s a full set. They also come in very early, so babies are only on milk for a short period of time before graduating to solid(-ish) food.
They need a certain amount of meat in their diet to stay healthy. Fish is preferred, but other kinds can sub in if it’s not available.
Another obvious one: they can hold their breath for a VERY long time underwater, even longer if they dive regularly/have taken time to train their lungs. They’re less sensitive to pressure changes as well, so can dive deeper/surface faster without risking the bends (though they’re not immune).
A lot of aumaua-dominated cultures have developed complex systems of diving hand signals to communicate - these get used on land as well as underwater.
Their scales dry out extremely easily in certain climates and if they’ve been on land too long. Many, many potions and lotions of varying effectiveness exist to combat this. It’s a million times worse if you’re an aumaua fire godlike, so pour one out for my girl Ahimi.
Multiple births are pretty common among them - lots of twins, especially. They have far fewer fertile windows per year than humans do. Also, no periods.
Pregnancy and childbirth generally go a lot easier for them than for folk and elves, though complications can still occur. Death and life-changing injuries are incredibly rare; most people recover quickly.
The gestation period is relatively short and babies are tiny upon birth. They’re born wrapped in a translucent egg sac, which is then placed in water for a while so they can finish cooking; it’s part of a midwife’s job to first check the sac for perforations and then to keep an eye on the pool to make sure all is well. Guardianship of this pool tends to be viewed as a sacred task in Huana tribes, entrusted to the highest-ranking Mataru warriors. In Rauatai, the pools are communal; a lot of social status rests on how fancy your egg pool is and who you have to share it with. Giving birth in and/or immersing your eggs in luminous-adra-enriched water is a growing trend among the very wealthy.

Stardew valley fic where the farmer fucking dies and as their kids and spouse deal with that they slowly start realizing all the weird stuff the farmer did while alive until they eventually discover they were a full on eldritch horror.
It cumulates with the kids, now teens or young adults, learning about the wizard, Mr qi, krobus and the dwarf, the junimos, grandpas spirit who’s still somehow around, the volcano enchantment, the shrines in the witches hut, and that since the farmers sudden and unnatural death the elemental world has been messed up since they were bridge of humanity and magic
