So I've finally come to realize why most of new things that happen to be very famous and appreciated by many and that I reject with passion regardless if it's a movie, a series, a game o whatever is if people come to me promoting it is as "IT'S THE FIRST EVER TO--" and you can fill in the space.

The first ever to have a strong female character that does not need a man to save her, a protagonist that sucks, the protagonist who happens to be the monster of the story or just villain no need to be monster, first ever to break the fourth wall as a main thing...

Point is, there are so many things out there, that we forgot about or we chose to forget about. Don't get me started on the ridiculous attempt to make me believe it's only in these last years that we get female protagonists. Especially from Disney. We forgot about "Return to Never Land" I assume. "Mulan" was too easy, it ALWAYS gets brought up and we do have many other examples. Or let's see... basically ALL of the Barbie movies? I used to watch Barbie movies when I was little, yes. And I wish that people would watch them too before making fun of them just because "lol Barbie, for little girls lol". I wonder if they're aware that at least in one of those movies there's a villain who's a goddamn stalker and not the idiotic parody kind of stalker. The kind that doesn't take NO as an answer and tries to kill you when he gets rejected. It's called "Barbie and the magic of Pegasus" by the way and I'm not exaggerating. It also portrays domestic abuse.

But it also goes for protagonists that are actually evil. In movies or games, especially in games. There are so many out there where you're actually the problem. "Carrion" is an example, you are the actual monster of the story. "Downfall" another very beautiful one that even got a much more recent remake. Or even if it's half unknown "Calm Time".

But recently we're just deciding to believe that "This is the first ever, never seen before". I've just recently started watching a series quite known for breaking the fourth wall, with many references to real life things, that is actually rightfully famous and ONLY because right now in this exact moment, 11 years later, people stopped bothering me about "WATCH IT WATCH IT YOU MUST YOU MUST IT'S THE FIRST TO DO IT YOU'LL NEVER SEE SOMETHING LIKE THIS ANYWHERE ELSE". If I tried watching it 11 years ago, I probably would have been pissed at it.

I don't know. Don't try to come make me like something by promoting it as "first ever to have this thing" because first of all, it's not true, second of all you'll only make me get further away from it. And if I have already explored it and don't happen to absolutely love it, trying to make me love it at all costs especially using that tactic will only make me hate it.

There's nothing wrong with telling a story that has absolutely nothing new or LIKING a story that has nothing new or that feels new. But don't pretend it's the first ever. It's not true. You can also like shit nobody likes. You don't have to force OTHERS to like your stuff.

Also if I had a shilling for every time I played a Pav who lost his right eye specifically I'd have two shillings. Which isn't a lot but it's... interesting that it happened twice. AND his left arm in an explosion one of those times.

i think we all, especially white people. should welcome the fact that we are, in fact, very ignorant when it comes to anything that doesnt have anything to do with the US or western europe.

like the video i reblogged about the russian woman who doesn't look like the stereotypical blonde eastern woman really made me think. in hindsight of course russians are asians, and yet i never really. thought about this. same goes for especially USamericans who imagine all europe looking like britain or france. where all eastern europe exists. dont get me started on africa. or god forbid australia. our mental image of australia in the western world is still "theres sydney and then nothing but the outback and nothing else" when that's far from the truth!!!!!! or fuck's sake i had to sit down my parents and prove to them that native americans had their language and traditions and fuckin. agricolture. because their mental image of a native american is still the stereotypes they saw in western shows of their times!!

idk. i think we should accept the fact that we are ignorant and welcome knowledge. agree that we are ignorant and seek said knowledge. the world is LITERALLY in our hands everyday thanks to the internet.

I can tell you about Arceus though: I might never have been so FRIGHTENED during a fight and before a fight. And even after. Well the only other time I was this tense might have been after discovering on my own the Sendoff spring in Diamond. And finding Giratina. But for Arceus some years later I straight up went into the void, potentially ruining my game forever. I was little, I was following the directions from a forum. A FORUM, imagine that! With some friends of mine. So yeah, music, method to get there at all, I admit got cold feet and threw the masterball a friend of mine handed me. My friends actually fought, they wanted to be cool and never use the masterball at all. I assure you they were sweating after a while they've been fighting. I could technically do it again and capture him again without masterball but... nope, nope nope, nope. The void experience is unpleasant.
