rvetheday:
“alright, that’s not too bad. i’m not going to judge your student too harshly,” sawyer joked, the kind smile he wore for strangers strong on his face. he listened intently as the man spoke about teaching, soaking in as much as he could as someone who was all too excited to get into the classroom himself. “oh, that’s so cool!” sawyer said excitedly, “i’m a student teacher, but looking at working with younger kids. like, pre-school kids. i don’t know how i’d go with teenagers.”
“No kidding?” Jonathan smiled. “Well, teenagers can be a hand full. I mean, so can little kids, but pre-school sounds a bit too chaotic for me.” Jonathan cringed inwardly at the thought of teaching little kids. He loved them - and wanted a few of his own one day - but trying to get twenty or more to focus for an entire day sounded far too stressful. He never understood how anyone who taught younger than middle school could pull it off. They must be miracle workers.
“I think the trick with teenagers is getting them to respect you and showing them that you respect them in turn. A lot of teachers skip that second part.”

sarayaemerson:
“The most handsome,” Saraya returned, a half smile on her lips and a teasing glint in her eyes. “This old thing? It’s mostly just for show.” She picked up her notebook flipping through it before setting it back down on the table top. It was a flippant remark but it was mostly true. She’d hardly set pencil to paper since they’d sat down, but that was okay. She was enjoying a moment with a friend. No one could fault her for not working. “Speaking of, how’s working treating you?”
He smiled as Saraya quipped back. Being with her always felt energizing, like a breath of fresh air. She was one of the first friends he made when he moved to town and was a big part of making him feel comfortable in Cape Hazel - even if she didn’t know it.
“Work is fine, my coworkers are nice enough. The students are great for the most part. I get to decide on a majority of the curriculum which is nice.” Jonathan shrugged as he took another sip of his coffee, “How about you? How’s life treating you?”

Answered!
11: were you in any kind of clique in school?
Nope!

English.

Um, somewhere in the middle.

4: what kind of childhood did you have?
That’s a complicated question. I’d say it was pretty normal? We weren’t very rich so my parents made a lot to support us so I didn’t see them a whole lot, but I always knew they loved me.
5: how much have you changed since you were little?
A lot. Doesn’t everyone?
9: what kind of student were you in school?
I was a troublemaker, but my grades were okay. I wasn’t into any sports or clubs, mostly just kept to myself and my close friends.
26: if you could go back in time and change one thing about yourself at any age, what would you do?
I don’t think I would change anything, because I like where I am now and I wouldn’t want to mess that up. There are things I wish had gone differently, but I don’t think I would change them.
36: what is a memory you wish had never happened at all?
I remember being there when my Grandma died. Her funeral was pretty rough, too.

10: were you a troublemaker or a stickler for rules?
Ah, I’d have to say a troublemaker. I liked to see how much I could get away with - especially in school. I also used to run off and get myself lost all the time. I think my parents had to call the police one time.
19: what was your biggest fear(s)? do you still fear those things now?
Well, I used to be afraid of heights, but not so much anymore. As for... more abstract fears? Never being loved. Hah.
33: what is your most vivid memory from childhood?
My parents took me to a state fair and my dad played one of those ring tossing games and won me a giant blue stuffed bear. He also threw up after I dragged him onto a roller coaster. Good times.
