I tried learning this pose like a year ago but it was Really Painful(like impossible painful) so I gave it up. I tried it last night and got it on the first try!! I'm wondering if the reason it was so painful before was because of my loose skin that has now been removed. With many things I have found that success is just as much about overcoming mental blocks as it is about increasing physical ability. Fear is an enormous mental block for me. The fear of failure just as much as, if not more than, the fear of injury or death. I have two mantras during aerial training: "I'm not going to die." and "I didn't get it today. It's okay. I will get it someday." This is not the pose I wanted to do today. I wanted to grab my feet and go into the full contortion version of this pose but it's very precarious and requires a lot of stability and balance and I am going to have to practice more to pull it off. But it's ok because someday I will be able to do it. (TRYING to emulate the incredible Contortionist and Trapezist @megnificentmissm ) More contortion pose practice from yesterday... Trapeze is an interesting apparatus 🤔 But it is muuuuuuch harder for me to contort on than a Lyra, granted Lyra was created for contortionists. I think I need to practice on trapeze more and I Might be able to find my bendy zone with it. Also one of my training buddies and I were talking about this last week and it drives me crazy... What do you do with your hands?!?! Sometimes I do like dancing movements with them but there's got to be something else you can do when you have a free hand... Today during open gym my goal was to explore bendy poses on the apparatuses. I'm not taking a contortion class right now but letting gravity pull me further into poses is second best to having a teacher to push me further. Aaaaaaand then this happened; I grabbed my ankle instead of my toesies.(I couldn't even do this before the surgery) Grabbing the ankle allows you to slide the leg further into the needle split position. Full Needle Splits will be my bitch someday! #TransformationTuesday There are two very different women in these pictures. Both of these women are beautiful, trying their best, and worthy of my respect and love. But one of these women does not love herself. I realized a number of years ago that I had serious confidence issues and I wasn't sure how to deal with them but I decided that working on myself was a good first step. So I stopped making excuses and started pursuing my goals. One of those goals was to be healthier, another was to become a performing artist, but the biggest one was just to love myself. I'm not all the way there. The weight loss and tummy tuck helped way less than you would think, what I really need is inside of myself. I still have low confidence quite a bit of the time. But there are times when I look in the mirror and Don't pick out a million things wrong with me and I am so grateful even for those moments. I had a Go-Go Gig at #WhoopeeLive a Sex Positive Variety Show last night and I woke up yesterday morning like "oh my gosh I want to glue rhinestones on my fishnets!" I was not entirely sure if it would work. The glue I used is industrial but it takes 24-72 hours to fully cure(and I only gave it like 8 hours) so I wasn't sure if they would all stick. 👽 Took my first 3 Pole Dance classes at @kiska.pole today. It was so fun! I learned the Russian Layback from @sugarcozy in Intro to Plastic. Happy Crying Right Now!!!! 😭😂 Since my Tummy Tuck I had totally lost my back bend, and as a contortionist in training that's a very sad thing. Sometimes it felt like I was ripping my new belly button and I was honestly worried it would never come back. But here I am, getting my feet to my head again!!!!
