I just opened up an editing software and layered the audio over the video file, and made sure that it was synced up.

Lip Synced Mini Me
Unfortunately I didnt get the audio to export along the animation.
She is saying "Im tired I want to go home"

Pictures of the parts were taken against a green backdrop so that it would be easier to remove the background and create a transparent image.

Mini Me!

I decided to make my mini me out of paper to have the clean shape look that is present in my chosen children's book.
I didn't get around to making the mouths yet but I am very happy with how it looks so far.

Finale - The Pitch
My groups final presentation for our pitch. Some things had to be left out for the sake of time management, but we included the most important bits and bobs.

I am so very proud and happy with all the work we have accomplished over the 3 weeks. Go Team 4!!!
Seeing all our work together on the wall and slideshow felt very rewarding, and I enjoyed this project a lot.

Pitch Puppets

My team decided to make paper puppets/pointers using our characters that we created.
I just quickly edited my bodyguard bot design to have a front and back facing profile and then stuck them onto a popsicle stick.

Master Shots

All 5 of us decided to combine our works in a scrapbooky way to create a few master shots.
While the backgrounds are done on paper with marker, the robots and characters are done digitally and stuck onto the background.
I think that this created a really cool effect that allows the characters to stand out from the background.

Finished Robot Designs
For the guard bot, I added a badge to their chest in order to make it clearer what their role is.
I also finished all the other city bot designs that were sketches.
Im really happy with all the designs as well as the colouring on them.

Jack & Jill Animatic
youtube
Using the storyboards that Emily made, I decided to edit them into an animatic.
I originally was just going to add simple transitions but got carried away and added sound effects.

Robot Designs
I wanted the robots that work in the city to be approachable and cute.
I imagine that the people of the city enjoy the novelty of having round and brightly coloured robots scurry through the streets.
The robots take over mundane jobs, which the people don't feel like doing, and provide entertainment for the people whilst doing them.
On the other hand, I wanted the robots in the warehouse to be the opposite, intimidating and unwelcoming.
For the guard/worker bot, I used a lot of straight lines and sharp angles to create a dangerous vibe. I also made sure that the colour palette was cold and mundane.
For the camera bot, I just added thin insect like legs so that it can scurry like a spider in the shadows.
I will be creating more robots for the warehouse in the future.

Concept/Style Development
I first drew a little bottle transporter bot. I'm not used to a clean, lineless style, so while drawing it, I realised that I was smoothing out too many things and making it blurry.
Then I decided to draw a city citizen to further practice the style, and to get an idea of what the people of the city might look like. This attempt turned out a lot better and I'm very happy with it, but I do think I can go crazier with the outfit and colours.

Nursery Rhyme - Style Research
We currently don't have a concrete style set for our project. But we did throw out some suggestions.
I was looking at concept art for Coraline, as I thought the cartoony grittiness would work well for our project.
There's a lot of contrast between the real world and the other world through the use of colours which I thought could work really with our project - The Outskirts Town vs The Neon Metropolis.
We are also considering having the style change with location. The small town being more sketchy and dull, while the city is clean, lineless and brightly coloured.

We scrapbooked our storyboards together to create one concrete storyline. We all decided that Emily would be the most suitable to redraw the storyboard.
While they were doing that, I was tasked with some visual research. I will be designing the robot characters for the story, so I wanted some clear imagery of the technology from the 70s as well as the fashion.

My group compared and contrasted our scripts, and then we rewrote it with the parts we liked and wanted to keep.
We then all started storyboarding individually. On Thursday, we will do what we did with the script, rearrange and assemble all the parts we like.

For our next project, we have to pitch a story based on a random nursery rhyme, time period and genre.
My group got Jack and Jill, Sci-Fi, in the information age.
We decided to focus on the 70s, so I went ahead and did some research on fashion in those years.
I doodled any ideas that came to mind, specifically when it came to robot designs.
We ended the day off by each one of us writing a script. Which we will then compare and contrast.

In order to familiarise myself with Chris Turnham's style, I replicated segments from the book.
His style is lineless, which is something I'm very much so not used to. His shading is very flat and uses contrasting colours.
Im fairly happy with my piece, I just don't think I adequately replicated the cleanliness of his style.

We went to do some live drawings in the park, and after that we took out children's books from the city library.
Our goal was to research the illustrator behind our chosen book and replicate one of our drawings from the park in the illustrators style.
My illustrator is Chris Turnham, who is a freelance illustrator as well as a printmaker. He has previously worked on animated movies as a concept artist - Coraline, Paranorman, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
