FULL METAL JACKET MODERN DAY AU

Part 1? (Possibly more)

This AU is set in a non descript city (because I can't decide.) Set in current day and how I think the Full Metal jacket lads would be living there life.

Hartman, "The Sergeant."

In this world Hartman has still served in some war, Vietnam most likely. Hard to tell since nobody asks him. And when they do he gets pissed.

He spends his days working in a gun store in which he is friends with the owner. He likes his job because it feels familiar to him. Anything that isn't familiar or traditional to him causes him discomfort. It's abnormal to him. Like this "Fortnite." All the kids brought in by there parents talk about whatever that is? He despises this mockery of Guns.

When he isn't working he tends to his wife's Garden. It's become difficult for her to tend to it herself so that duty falls to Hartman. He doesn't mind though, Afterwards he gets to lounge in the garden and watch AI videos on Facebook.

COWBOY

Cowboy is quite the southern traditionalist. Craving a lifestyle he never really lived through, Where men worked and Women were the home-makers. He doesn't *really* mean it in a sexist way. He just happens to think that men are more capable of working jobs and that Women are fragile...Yeah. nothing sexist about that? 🙁

He works on the outskirts of the city on a Cattle farm. He thinks it's honest and good work, He has a strong sense of Brotherhood with his coworkers and often goes out to drink with them or see a baseball game.

He has very little social interaction outside of his work friends which he finds them cool and all. But he wants to get out there and find "The one." He would definitely consider himself to be a hopeless romantic, And has scared off quite a few people.

His only companion besides his work friends is Joker his best friend, They meet up every week to go to the theatre Joker works at (He lets him in for free.) And they have a very strong bond with either being willing to take a bullet for the other.

Joker

Joker works at the local Theatre and would consider himself a devoted film geek. He can tell you everything about any of the Stephen King movies, Or Stanley Kubrick.

Horror's are his favourite, He thinks they have way more attention put into them and he tries to over analyse everything in them, Which by the way he has definitely done on a date and infodumping everything he knows about film.

He definitely has over exaggerated his job role before saying that: "I work in the Film industry Yknow?" When in reality he's just a projectionist.

He has a very small close knit friend group of other geeks for different subjects (Because film is "His thing.") And Cowboys there too I guess. Him and Cowboy are genuinely best friends, Countless times they have saved eachothers asses. Neither of them see that changing any time soon.
