I love DEEP CONVERSATIONS. Discussions in which our muses reflect on loaded topics like the future, death, their most passionate of ambitions, mistakes that they deeply regret, identity struggles, unexpressed fears, and more. Lighthearted and carefree threads are always great, but I also love threads that allow muses to explore parts of themselves that are typically hidden from those around them.

Kaaras, of course, didn't understand the seriousness of her words. The fact that she would still be around for years to come. Even when his body would be burned and gone, as Ferelden tradition. She would still be there, looking the same as she did right now. But he didn't know that. How could he? Immortality was just a dream to his people... or a spell that was out of reach. Dangerous, and foolish to chase after.
His eyes lowered for a moment, but he gave a nod to the woman. "Yes... that's very true," he agreed. He offered her a small smile before he looked back over the horizon. The sea had at least calmed for now, and the elfroot he'd taken had settled his stomach the best it would. He did not feel well by any means, but it was better than feeling like he was green in the face, let alone embarrassing himself and having to throw up over the side of the ship.
Tumblr media
"A few more days and we should reach solid ground. Maker, let's hope I can survive it," he chuckled. "When we reach Skyhold, I'd like for you to meet Leliana, our spymaster." There was no hiding it from Kassandra, she'd find out eventually, and Kaaras wanted to be honest. He didn't believe in lying, lies always came back to bite you on the arse.
"There's got to be a connection of why those people attacked us both. We might not know it yet, but if anyone will know, it'll be her."
Tumblr media
Farming couldn't have been harder than many of the other skills she had learned and acquired in her two millennia of existence. Kassandra found herself to be a quick learner, especially when things eventually came easy to her. The hardest part was simply existing, condemned to eternal loneliness. Anything else was easy. She wasn't above getting her hands dirty on actual soil rather than blood this time. All she wanted was some peace after all of this. She was tired of all the fighting.
Imagine, an Agiad daughter as a farmer. Her family had so much pride, proud warriors and statesmen, and now long since gone. Nothing more than dust and statues standing tall amongst the other relics of the dead. She was all that remained, so why should she even care what they thought of her choices, at this point? It's not like their ghosts had haunted her before. Forgotten daughter and nothing more.
She could see it now, her and Ikaros in the field, toiling away at the soil. Well, Kassandra toiling at any rate. She'd have the seclusion her curse required and something to keep her occupied all the while. Live off the land but in a more constructive manner.
Tumblr media
"Simple is all I could ask for. Life is complicated enough without Templars and Mages at each other's throat and some world-ending event looming on the horizon." She nodded, her smile a bit faded, "I will, won't I?" All that time around other people. Could she truly handle it after ages of isolation?
For a moment it seemed as if the color had left her face. No, no, he didn't really suspect anything, that would be impossible. "Not all wars are fought on a battlefield, friend. But I hope for peace as well."

Kaaras supposed 'friends' was not the correct term in a place like this. How telling of the man that he was. Someone who had lived a life without all of the facades and masks.
His long ears twitched just a little in response, hoping that he had not offended Gaultier. He had a feeling he'd probably offend a few more people accidentally before the night was over--then again, him being a qunari was enough of an insult to every man and woman here.
The Inquisitor nodded, making sure he was keeping up his appearance in a normal conversation and nothing more. He was at least good at that... He needed all of the information he could get, and that sounded like a solid lead, one that he likely never would have thought of. Gaultier's knowledge on the layout was going to come in handy as well.
"That sounds like a good place to start. I'll check in with the others before I head there." They had all night, it was true, but he did want this to go as smoothly as possible, and as quickly... If they wanted the Empress to believe them or take them seriously at all, then they'd need something more solid than the words of cooks and servants. Sure, Kaaras would take them on board, but not people like this.
Tumblr media
"Perhaps, when this is all over, you'd join me on the dance floor? Growing up in a place like this, I'm certain to know a few impressive moves."
Tumblr media
If the Duke was angry with him, he hadn’t expressed that when they’d met, but then again… The Game. Once more, Kaaras felt like a sore thumb. There were those that whispered as he walked by, shocked that a qunari would ever step foot in a place like this. After all, he was merely an animal with horns to some of the nobles here. They didn’t even recognise him as the Inquisitor.
That ignorance was on them. How many qunari Inquisitor’s were there? Honestly, he was positive they murmured under their breath on purpose just to prove he was some kind of beast that was ready to smash everything to pieces.
Even with Kaaras’ experience in Starkhaven, the nobles of Orlais were a whole different breed. He had little option but to take Gaultier’s word. And why wouldn’t he anyway? He had been nothing but kind and honest with him, and there were little here that he could rely on for insider knowledge. His team was excellent, yes, but not a lot of them were pleased to be here–if any.
Tumblr media
Kaaras gave a nod of his head. “That eases some worries, I must admit,” he said with a sigh in tone. “I’d hate to cause trouble within the first thirty minutes of being here. We’ve a long night ahead of us, and a lot to learn.” They had to uncover this plot, and they had to make sure they weren’t caught while doing it. His presence would be missed, easily, so he needed to be careful.
“Are there any old friends you have here at all? Someone that may know something?”

Kaaras knew that he wasn't alone in any of this. He had the entire Inquisition behind his back. He had his companions, his commanders, Cassandra, Josephine, Cullen and Leliana. At times, it felt impossible for them to lose when he had them all at his side. Lyrian may not be a commander, or even a fighter at that, but his parts beside Kaaras had become so crucial to it all.
Love was a powerful thing. The heart was a powerful thing. For if anything ever happened to his lover, Kaaras was sure he'd go mad. But that... that would hopefully never happen.
Despite it all, though, and knowing that he was not alone, not a single one of them knew what it was like to have the anchor on their hands, consuming them day by day. He tried not to think about what it was likely doing to his body, to have this key to another world at his very palm. Even as a mage, there were some magics that he could never control.
Tumblr media
He pushed those thoughts aside for now, concentrating on Lyrian, their eyes holding one anothers. "And I will be there, right beside you as well." Through thick and thin. He leant forward and pressed a small peck on Lyrian's lips. "Come, we should rest, lest we stay here all night, gazing into one another's eyes." He chuckled softly, pulling up the pelts and tucking them both underneath them. Horns made it awkward for him to lean on his side, but nothing a propped arm or pillow couldn't help.
"Goodnight, Lyrian. I love you."
Tumblr media
Kaaras leant into that little kiss, his eyes closing when Lyrian’s lips met the warm flesh between his horns. A smile moved across his thin lips and a little huff of air left his nostrils, flaring.
He didn’t mind if Lyrian had no faith in gods. It was not up to him to judge. He was but a single man. Just because he was Andrastian and believed in the maker, didn’t mean his faith was singular. In fact, he was far more spiritual than others realised. Every god came from somewhere, and thus he believed that they all had power. But it was people he truly believed in. He believed that they were capable of amazing feats, especially when they came together.
That was what the Inquisition was. It wasn’t just him. Just because he had the title of the Inquisitor didn’t mean it was all about him. It wasn’t. It was about every single one of them and the good that they all did as a whole. He was humbled by the position, and it was important to remember that he was just like any of them. If anything, he was even luckier to be alive, considering his dance with death.
His heart melted at those words, his hand moving to Lyrian’s shoulder beneath the pelts. He needed that support, that love and guidance from Lyrian, more than he could admit out loud. Every single one of his soldiers or his war council could support and help him, but Lyrian at his side was something intimate and special that they could not give him.
“That is all I need,” he replied, his voice soft between them and the pillows they shared. Ginger was still at their feet, soaking up the arms through the pelts that they had to offer.
“You at my side.” A reason to keep going. A reason to keep fighting. “I love you more than you know, Lyrian. More than I could ever express with my hands or my mouth or… any other part of my body.” He blushed as he said it, his reactions sometimes out of his control. But it was true.
Tumblr media
“Thank you for being by my side, even though I know that it is tough at times, when we are away from each other, when we worry about the next battle and how it may end.”

primal possessiveness is so hot?? I just wanna get fucked while they growl "all mine", maybe they repeat "mine" again and again, timing it with their thrusts into me, as they take what is theirs, as they get close to cumming, their thrusts and "mine"s speed up and become more primal and animalistic, more growls than words, and when they cum they bite down hard, marking me as theirs inside and out

If only, Kaaras thought. Unfortunately, cultists were like rats. They liked to hide away inside places where others couldn't find them. He certainly wasn't any more fond of being stuck here, either. Kaaras wasn't the smallest person, and places like this made him feel like the collar of his shirt grew tighter and tighter.
Alas, he had to keep control of himself, and the situation the best he could, especially when someone else was going to panic.
The Inquisitor took a deep breath, trying to relax his tense shoulders. They'd get out of here, even if he had to beat the walls down around him with his fists.
"I certainly don't think it should be our first option, but... if it has to come to it..." His voice fell away as he spoke the words, looking around. She was right, though, the door was closed tight, and even if they did try and force it open, the whole tunnel could end up collapsing in on them.
"The soldiers outside would have felt that tremor, they'll be looking for us, I'm positive of that." Or at least they'd be looking for their Inquisitor.
Tumblr media
"But I fear the longer we stay here, the more likely..." He looked at her, not wanting to concern her any more than she already was. "Well, tremors generally come with aftershocks."
“Locked tight, but there must be some way to open it." (Hello, I hope this is okay!)
Revenelan's skin prickled as she felt a dreadful chill wash over her, her chest growing tight. Suddenly, she was very acutely aware of how the cavernous tunnel behind her seemed to constrict the longer she peered down its dark, dank path.
"Cultists and their shoddy, overdone labyrinths," Revenelan huffed, shaking her head with a frown. "Would it trouble them so to build their hideouts somewhere above-ground, for a change? Perhaps a nice house on the beach?"
Anchored with a white-knuckled grip on her ironbark staff, Revenelan turned back to place a hand on the heavy, rusted metal door that caged her from the outside world.
"The door's lodged tight into the stone, clean off it's hinges – can you see it? It must have swung closed with quite a force when the tremors hit. Ugh." Revenelan chewed the inside of her cheek, her brow knit tightly as she considered her options. The cavern entrance was still a ways away – the Inquisitor could leave to get help, but the thought of having to wait any longer, and by her lonesome, was nauseating. Revenelan swallowed. "Do you think we would bring the whole cavern down if we were to try to blast it open?"
