I got average grades all four years and did only what I had to in order to graduate, but I worked a shitty job from age sixteen to twenty-three and was able to use that money to buy the cheapest building we could find–the one with the giant stinky flower we never figured out how to kill and the busiest train tacks in the city. We all rode our bikes in because the thought of owning a car was hilarious, but eventually we made it, and sometimes I miss that old office, it was the nastiest place I ever worked, but it was ours.”
