Rules and FAQ

Alright, we're about a month and a half out from first posting day, so here are the things you need to know for this year's event. Changes to the rules are minimal.

For those who do not want to click through, the basics follow:

This is a no sign-up event running from 24-31 August 2025

Works should not be posted before the corresponding day but we’ll be accepting late entries up to 15 September 2025

RULES:

Works should have Kakashi and Yamato’s relationship as the main focus. This does NOT have to be romantic!

Works should be newly created (i.e. not posted anywhere before the event), but works that also fulfill prompts for other events will be accepted.

AI Generated content and reposts will not be accepted.

No underage content. Mods are defining underage as below 18.

Works should not be posted before the corresponding day they have been created for.

All NSFW or dark content must be tagged appropriately and, if posting on Tumblr, under a cut.

Works should be tagged #kkymwk2025 to be reblogged. There will also be a post each day which you can reply to if you’re worried about being missed.

On AO3 you will be able to post directly to this years’ collection once it is created.

Mods reserve the right not to reblog anything they deem inappropriate or not fitting the spirit of the event.

KakaYama Week 2025 Prompt

It's prompt reveal time!

Additionally you may notice we have expanded the week to 8 days so that we can have at least one full weekend.

And now for the important part!

27 August - Soulmates, Wounded

28 August - False memories, Blind spots

29 August - Laundry Day, Off-label jutsu use

30 August - Retaliation, Anniversary

31 August - Dreaming, Hot spring

Prompts were selected through careful analysis of all 137 submissions for similarities of theme, providing a variety of tones and moods, and things that could be either canon or AU without too much stretching.

Next time I am pulling them out of a hat.

Same as the last time we did this, prompts can be combined or not as the inspiration strikes you. A single work combining prompts from each day is fine, as are 16 individual drabbles keeping each prompt to itself. The point is to inspire more fanworks, and hype each other up about the pairing.

For the sake of making tracking things easier, we do ask that you post on the day of the relevant prompt, and tag the blog ( @kakayamaweek ) the event, (kkym2025), and the prompt you used. An AO3 collection will be created closer to posting time, and linked in both a post here, and the links page on the blog itself.

(Those details have yet to be updated, please bear with me.)

Not sure if there will be discussion posts this year, those didn't seem to help most people last time, and resources are limited this year.

Prompt Submissions Closed

The form is now closed to responses.

It's about 20 hours later than planned because yesterday got stupid, because that's what days do when you have stuff to get done.

Anyway!

Overall there were 137 suggestions, and of those there were only three duplicates! Good job guys.

This does mean there are a lot of suggestions to sort through, so bear with me. Hopefully the list will be up by Friday. If not then by the end of next weekend for sure.

Prompt Submissions

A reminder to those who've seen it and a head up to those who haven't.

KakaYama Week is back for 2025 running 24-30 August.

Prompt submissions are currently being collected through this google form.

All ideas are welcome, but get them in soon!

The form will close on 16 May at roughly 5:30pm Pacific Time (17 May @ 12:30AM GMT)

Prompt list should be up within a week after that.

We're going without a theme this year due to both time constraints and a general interest check. Currently, we are taking prompt submissions.

Got ideas? Please fill out this google form.

Submissions will be open for one week (ending 16 May 2025 at whatever time I close the form after I get off work), and hopefully prompt selection will be complete by the end of the following weekend.

It's 8 October, and that means KakaYama Week 2023 is officially over! Unofficially, brainrot is never over, and the blog will be continuing to scan the tags for late entries until 31 October when the scary thing happens and we call it for the year.

A full round-up post and possibly some statistics will follow some time in mid November, time and life permitting.

Before we get there however, please join me in congratulating the two people who managed to post something every day of the week:
