i haven’t posted anything in ages and by that i mean after the latest awae episode and it hurts me since there were so many good scenes i want on my blog very badly but i’ve been having a crisis with my blog but i’ll hope i’ll get over that very soon bc today is a new ep day again! i just wanted to make a little update in case anyone was wondering where i’ve been and because i have a few things i want to remember so i’m going to share them here.

firstly: last night i had a dream about anne and diana. diana was having a birthday party and when the two of them were alone anne told diana how diana was the best friend she’s ever had and also the love of her life. i can’t remember much else but that’s enough to make me want to cry bc i’m craving them to be actual girlfriends on screen so so badly and i know it’s 99% certain that it’ll never happen so i’m absolutely doomed. i think i’m going to read every single fic i can find of those two and then maybe even try writing one myself too, if i’m brave enough. but i must say that oh boy am i still grateful for all the hecking gay scenes on awae between them bc without them i might be able to, you know, live.

secondly: i finished watching jane the virgin last night. i always thought of the show as something light and not so meaningful & important to me but when the end of the chapter ninety-eight said “to be continued... one more time” i realized how much i’m actually invested in the show and how much i love it and the characters and the relationships and everything of it. and yes, the finale came i cried and i cried a lot at least half of the episode and it started when it was revealed that older mateo was the narrator and then it just didn’t end. when it ended all i wished for was that i could watch it again for the first time. it is definitely a show i’m going to cherish forever in my heart. in the episode where the actors and the creator talked about the show and the characters and their history and everything xo’s actress said “growing up i didn’t really see myself on tv or my family on tv and i really felt invisible. and it was really a blow to my self esteem because i felt like i wasn’t important.” and that really hit home to me. i don’t see my queer nonbinary trans self on tv and i know that it doesn’t mean that i’m not important because i am, but i also know that i’m not important that my existence is worthless to this patriarchal cisheteronormative society and probably to most of the people living in this world as well, and that really fucking hurts.

(but also: give cole a beautiful artist boyfriend!! we already have the writer bi the pianist lesbian and the sculptor gay and if it was in modern times i’d say what we need is a photographer pan but maybe he could be painter pan instead. a small queer artist family is what i need okay.)

I wonder if any of the characters could be a secular witch? I imagine Jane absolutely could be a secular witch, given her propensity to avoid being overly emotional. In the books Anne, Ruby, Diana, and Jane are the ones who end up becoming fairly close, and imagine all four of them being witches?

i can’t really say anything about jane since i think i don’t know her well enough yet, but someone (maybe jane) could definitely be a secular witch! imagine those four and cole forming a coven, that could definitely be an idea for a magical fic hmm...

anne with an e / anne of green gables characters as witches

i know i’m probably the only one who cares about this kind of au(?) for awae but it’s fine i wanted to write about my thoughts on this and also make more of those moodboards inspired by these at some point!

anne - she’s a character i actually headcanon as a pagan because it just makes so much more sense to her character than christianity in my opinion. but anyway, she’d definitely be a green witch. she would grow and collect and dry her own herbs to use in her magic. her altar would be filled with nature treasures like pinecones and flowers and there’d definitely be a an abandoned bird’s nest as well. she would only have one proper crystal, a beautiful amethyst (a gift from diana), that would be very dear to her but other than that she’d use normal rocks in her practise. she would find a place in nature she feels is extra sacred and there she would pray, maybe to fjörgyn, the female personification of the earth. her prayers would most often accidentally turn into poetic masterpieces. she would work a lot with her animal guides which she would have a lot of, for example a fox.

diana - okay just hear me out. she would be a lunar witch (and a lunar lesbian). as well as a music witch. she would worship the moon and live by their (the moon is a they okay!) phases. full and new moon rituals would be very important to her, and those she would always do outside no matter the weather. she would have quite a collection of crystals and all the moon & astrology themed tarot and oracle decks she would’ve been able to find. her favourite crystal would be amethyst as well and most of her crystals would be them, in various shapes and sizes. why it’d be her favourite you might wonder, and it’s of course because when anne saw one of diana’s amethysts for the first time she instantly said how much it’s energy feels like diana and that is also why it was an amethyst diana gifted anne, so she could always have a piece of her with her even when they’d be apart. on diana’s altar (which would be on top of her piano) there’d be crystals and candles and moon shaped decorations and a goblet of moon water aaand (for a second i thought should i really make this even more gay but then i was like??? obviously so here goes) some nature treasures she would’ve gotten from anne. her spells would often be songs or playlists dedicated to a certain thing. she would have many playlists dedicated to the moon and all of their phases. 

cole - well this probably comes as no surprise but cole would of course be an art witch! his grimoires would be sacred art projects to him. he would use a lot of sigil magic, and in the modern day his creations could probably be found on his and his boyfriend’s skin as well. he would turn his art pieces into spells and instead of following a deity or deities he would go for his biggest art inspirations for advice (yes, he’d talk with the dead) and even create some devotional art for them. his altar wouldn’t be a table, it would be all of the walls of his home, covered in art he has made himself and art he loves made by others. 

i have no thoughts about the other characters yet, except that ruby’s witchcraft would be focused on beauty and love! if you read this far i hope you liked it, and feel free to share your own ideas as well! <3

No, not pathetic. It saved you, that you used your imagination to escape this place. Your reality is effervescent, beautiful, and it made you who you are. Able to see and dream what’s possible. Not just what is. You’re amazing because of your experiences. It’s given you such empathy and the widest mind of anyone I know. And selfishly, I’m thankful for it all. Because you were able to understand and accept me. That saved my life.
