Shout out to the redheaded extra in Ghostbusters who managed to be in two different crowds and acted so hard they had to dub in dialog because it felt weird to not hear him shout.
Edit: He is apparently Eldo Ray Estes and is a 4x Emmy Award Winning Make Up Artist.

I might have to start picking this up in trade
I absolutely love this direct parallel. Thundercracker is always such an interesting character when he's portrayed like this - he's loyal to the Decepticon cause, but not interested in wanton destruction and death the way many other Decepticons are. He pities small weak things and finds no entertainment or honour in killing them unless he absolutely has to.
It's going to be fun seeing how his reluctance to kill for the crime of being small affects his relationships with some of the most brutal Decepticons we've seen.

I like that visually, this mode is just "What if Boonboomger Robo had a cool shoulder cape?"
"...that lights on fire?"

So I honestly dig this.
The idea that the Boonboomgers were not created to fight evil, but they wound up doing it anyway.
The drama from this episode is clearly going to be Mira and Jou, who signed up to be superheroes, trying to understand Taiya's motivations, BUT. The implication here is that Taiya saw the hashalien threat, thought to himself "I've got the tools to handle this" and sprung into action.
And that's awesome.
