when usopp speaks again, luffy finally moves his head out from under the running water. so he can finally hear what usopp's on about. does he trust usopp? nope, not after he let luffy eat the spicy noodles. “ HOW DO I KNOW IT'S NOT GONNA MAKE IT WORSE? ”

thoughts plaguing my mind lately: the water 7 au where usopp never went back to the straw hats. there are the two versions where he never confronted any of his nakama, never apologized. && things are left this way for years && years. the other alternative version is he DOES confront his nakama, he DOES apologize. he admits his wrongs, but he decides it better to stay behind, rather it's a permanent thing or temporary thing. regardless on the straw hat approach, he leaves for good. iceburg would see his potential ( he's got a good eye for graphic design after all ) , so he'd become apprenticed into the galley la company. his marksmanship is also something he'd NEVER give up on, so he still practices && gets better && better at this over the years.

me and luna are talking you know what that means!! sets down two aus. 1) Paulie becomes the strawhat shipwright because that was a debate back in the day and it seems just ripe for hilarious interactions. & 2) usopp stays in water 7 and Paulie is like ‘well damn’ and all of galley la gets a new lil bro/son. tears are coming out of his eyes, but thanks to the running water over his face, it's not that noticeable. also thanks to the running water, he's unable to hear what usopp was actually saying. all he heard was milk and water. “ WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? WHAT DOES MILK HAVE TO DO WITH THIS?! ”

genuinely, usopp had thought he knew what he was taking a bite into, but he should have known better. it was luffy, after all. && anyone that was around their captain long enough would soon realize that this was a common occurrence. he's confused, but it only lasts for a moment before the spiciness from the noodles meets his tastebuds. it takes him a moment to realize his mistake, and when he does, his eyes go wide, as he forces himself to finish what was in his mouth. “ WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THEY WERE SPICY NOODLES? ” he shouts, shooting up from his seat and running straight to the sink. “ I TRUSTED YOU, USOPP.... I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS. ” he says, before turning on the water and sticking his head under the faucet.
