Listen, listen I'm not totally on board with the headcanon that Erestor is the secret son of Haleth and Caranthir but ... It feels like a waste for him to not be at least a peredhel.

And the problem with that is that is that peredhel seem to be mortal (except for Earendil,Elwing and their descendants) It makes me want to tear out my hair.

“Here.”  Laurefindel slid the flute out of his outer robe and gently into Ecthelion’s hands. 

Ecthelion blinked at the small lacquered wood and silk case.  “My flute.  How did you get my flute?” 

“Now, you have no excuse not to play.”  Laurefindel gestured over his shoulder with his chin.  “I bet they would enjoy some of the feast day solos.” 

“Thief.”

Laurefindel grinned.  “What a terrible thing to call your best friend.”

Ecthelion took the flute case out of Laurefindel’s hands.  “Some friend, to steal things from my rooms.”

“Lord Turukáno!”  Laurefindel waved a hand at Turukáno, where he stood with the caravan leaders.  “Lord Ecthelion has offered to play a couple of songs from the Starlight Suite.”

Ecthelion drew in a breath of offense and muttered, “You Vanya idiot, those are…”

Turukáno brightened.  “That would be delightful.”  He turned to the caravan leaders.  “This will be a treat!  Lord Ecthelion is a noted flutist who sometimes performed at the Palace of Tirion.”

Flushed red to the tips of his ears, Ecthelion bowed and called, “Let me just warm up and then perhaps we can go to the gardens?”  He turned and muttered at Laurefindel, “The Starlight?  I hope you stub your toes on every door sill in your House.”  He stomped out of the ballroom towards one of the side rooms to warm up, muttering the entire way.

Years of the Trees Music Trio ✨Shenanigans✨

You can’t tell me those three weren’t out there having silly dance parties. Everyone always do the eldest sons trio but as someone with a ton of cousins, I know the truth. Maedhros was busy at the adult table, talking to Finarfin about his university major while Maglor, Fingon and Finrod were stuck at the kids table, barely able to talk without being interrupted by one of the younger ones.

Anyway, I was planning to clean those up but I am not sure now. I’m not really satisfied with Finrod’s design :/ Fingon is hella cute tho and that Maglor is growing on me.

I highly recommend dance photos from the 1920’s as ref if you want to draw some silly poses btw.

I’m still working determinedly away on Out of Night, here’s another snippet with an extra bonus line:

“You like to fix things,” Maglor said, not looking up as he carefully tightened the string. “But I’m not like this harp, you cannot add new strings and polish to make me as I was.”

Galadriel sat beside him, her shoulder brushing his lightly. “No,” she agreed. But then, I’m not trying to fix you. I wish to see you healed, it is not the same thing.”

He tested the string, the note ringing out pure and true as he mulled over her words. “I’m not sure there is a difference.”
