a quiet storm covering the city.

the windows, blurred with condensation,

veils only a fractured reflection of myself.

Outside, it cannot rain—

this is a state, where the sun reigns eternal.

So where does this weather hail from?

I peer through the bedside glass,

and still, it seems to pour.

I sit back down at my computer.

hours slip by in a digital haze.

a glance at my phone reveals the truth:

eighty degrees, the sky shines with no clouds.

encouraged, I can go for a walk now.

But as I near the door,

the sound of rain surrounds me—

a steady rhythm of pouring water.

Confused, I turn to the mirror.

There I stand, untouched,

but my reflection is drenched,

water pooling on its surface.
