My tall buff Lux headcanon stems primarily from the fact that what we have seen of her family so far consists of this:

Obviously it’s not out of the question that Lux simply spawned from the shallow end of the gene pool (all of my sibling are either tall or stocky while I somehow got neither, for example) but alas the cynical side of me looks at this:

and goes, hot, but regrettably male-gazey (nobody’s boobs are shaped like that, Riot).

So my headcanon hence became that in real life she would be Tall because of see above: Genes, and Buff because of her military upbringing. I don’t think she would be CrossFit built or anything, especially since she wasn’t a frontline soldier like her brother, but as a Crownguard she would have been expected to undergo the same rigorous training - plated armor doesn’t weight nothing lol! I kind of think of it in terms of the difference between Vi and Sevika’s builds: Sevika is more about brute strength whereas Vi is buff but clearly built for a more versatile, lower-weight-class fighting style. I imagine Lux would be closer to Vi.

Plus, all the better to bridal carry Jinx ;)

Fic idea: the girls are roommates. Zoey and Mira get along like a house on fire, but Rumi tries to keep a distance though she’s nice about it.

Zoey and Mira get a lil drunk one night and decide to summon a demon. They complete whatever ritual they found online and instead of a demon showing up in a puff of smoke, Rumi scares the pants off them by opening the door and going “what are you doing?”

They do this a couple more times for shits and giggles, with Rumi opening the door each time.

What they don’t realize is the ritual is working, Rumi is just the closest demon at all times.

i think it would benefit fandom culture in general to learn how to think and say:

"this story didn't go the direction i hoped for or cater to my personal tastes/tolerances regarding certain subject matter, character arcs, and plot delivery methods. oh well! at least others seem to understand and enjoy it."

... rather than:

"GGGGRHGHGFJHH the writers are BAD, the representation is BAD, they don't know their own characters as well as I DO. i can NEVER overlook these characters' flaws and negative actions NO MATTER what led to it, how conflicted they are about it, or how they show desire to change. and if the writers don't EXPLICITLY make these characters apologize for and condemn every awful and questionable action via extensive and literal dialogue AND solve every outstanding conflict by the end of the story, that means they're CONDONING these horrible things in real life and we shouldn't care!"

I was honestly skeptical the SECOND the word “spin-offs” left the arcane creators’ mouths tbh. I think one of S2’s biggest shortcomings, in my opinion, was the Noxus storyline playing into this pattern in television where a story can’t just, you know, END. Everything has to be a franchise and that’s all too often prioritized over storytelling, so when they started talking about “spin-offs” and “continuations” instead of just?? Calling it Arcane Season 3??? Or just letting the show end?? I kinda smelled corporate bullshit. Like I know Riot is known for storytelling across different forms of media (one-shot cinematics, comics, and now an animated tv show) but the way it was approached made me apprehensive that Arcane was falling into the franchise-chasing cash-grab trap too many successful stories fall into these days, and at that point I’d rather not see it happen at all. A story or a ship doesn’t have to be canon for people to love it, engage with it, and find fulfillment in it. I think lightcannon is a prime example of that.

I would still adore another Lux-centric story or Lux content. The ending of the Katarina comics and Riot shifting their focus to Noxus makes me hopeful we might see a bit of crossover in the future, but again I would rather not see it happen than see it handled poorly. ESPECIALLY if it means not bringing the toxicity of the post-S2 Arcane fandom into the wider fandom, dear god (I feel like there are a lot of double standards when it comes to Cait/CaitVi specifically but that’s an essay for another time). The success of lightcannon week and the love Jinx and Lux are getting shows that we’re thriving with or without canon content and that’s good enough for me

As time passes I’m more and more convinced that we're never getting those spin offs, and I’m lowkey grieving because I really wanted a lux’s centric show, she’s been my favorite champ since forever and I think she has such a great story that with the right writing could even surpass arcane’s s1 quality.

But then again I really didn’t like what they did with our girl jinx and how she’s perceived in mainstream fandom now, so I really would’ve hated if they wrote lux badly like her or cait and people started to perceive her like a spoiled princess or a fascist or some other shit like that, so maybe no new show is gonna be a blessing in disguise, who knows.

Look the bottom line is the people who are going to scream about a fictional character being a fascist or whatever are going to do that regardless of anything. The internet thrives on who's offended by what today and there's nothing you can really do to change that. There are more important things going on in the world right now that, I swear to god, we could maybe do some good with if we turned all that fanatical energy of ours to helping real people who need it instead of burning it up on nonexistent people.

But with regard to the fictional ones, I'm at the point where I'm, similarly, happy if they just leave the characters I love alone and let us have fanfic. We didn't need no 'canon', we made do with a couple of trailers, a voice line or two and an extremely sapphic magical girl music video. Lightcannon was essentially built from crumbs by and for the fans over slightly more than a decade, now.

So no matter what they do with Lux or Lightcannon it wouldn't be my Lux or my Lightcannon. It won't have the tropes and the stories our fandom built. Omen's is my canon at this point, lol, though it's one of several. And that's mine, nobody can take that from me.

Whatever they do next? Well if they decide to drag Lux out or chase up on the Arcane cast I guess I'll tag along with everyone else out of morbid curiosity's sake, but I'm so damn tired of the Arcane fandom at this point that I'd struggle to really care.

I have my thing that I'm enjoying, over here, I'm happy to just keep enjoying it. I just finished a 300,000 word fanfic that's twice as long as my novels, I did 80,000 words of short stories for Lightcannon Week, other authors submitted 180 stories to the week collection and bumped the ship into the WLW top 100 on ao3 for the first time. That matters to me more, y'know?
