Hot & Bothered

He jogs his way into Lava Reef; looking a slight bit more downed than he was in Sandopolis, perhaps he's realised that he is all alone. While he runs through the caves, he's taunted by images of Tails reaching out to him, Knuckles crawling towards him, Robotnik gushing blood and water from every orifice on his face, and images of himself, hanging from the ceilings.

Though these phantoms do tend to reach out and even approach him, he manages to disregard them, and he continues onward towards the boss of Act 1, though he isn't going to make it there.

{"You did this, you know? You let them die."}

Whilst focusing his attention on a rather lifelike variant of his post-mortal brother; Miles, he runs almost directly into a precariously placed wall of stalagmites, he barely skids out of the way; just grazing a bit of the skin and fur off of one of his legs. He hardly winces at the pain as his leg begins to bleed; leaving a trail of red behind him as he continues running.

{"You deserve this, you won't be making it out of here."}

Now, although he's trying his best to not be put off by his injury, the pain is getting to him; he begins to slow down and limp; his limp quickly degrading itself to but a hobble, he eventually looks over at his leg and is immediately disgusted by the sight; it's so humid in this cave that his wound is beginning to fester already. He continues onward, all the while holding a hand over his mouth to prevent himself from throwing up.

{"It's no use. You're just as ugly inside as you are outside."}

Stumbling so slowly, he doesn't have a chance to outpace anything he once could, this makes itself evident as a stalactite falls from the ceiling above and launches him off-balance, he propels himself out of the way using his one functional leg, and, unfortunately, finds himself flying straight into a pool of lava. He reaches out his hand for the ledge of which he just jumped away from, and he misses.

{"You are a terrible estimate."}

Sonic lands directly in the centre of the lava pool; it immediately burns the soles of his shoes off, and proceeds to melt his lower legs, he sinks further in at a somewhat slow pace, emitting a gut-wrenching, tormented scream; it doesn't seem to end, you're forced to watch as his fur, skin and flesh melts off of his frame; he reaches out his right arm, up towards the ledge that he previously fell from, but doesn't manage to reach it before he crumbles into the magmatic flow below, the expression of terror once on his face goes blank as his neck goes limp and what's left of him melts away into a pile of sludge amidst the molten rock, and all that remains is a charred; blackened skeleton, mildly resembling the form of a hedgehog.

and the way i organised CTE is in such a way that i have to finish the whole thing before releasing it

oh deary me a 50/50 between my two current favourite projects 😅

utterly completely unsure as to which one i should do because for me to even conceptualise publishing EOTA would require me to have a substantial number of people who i know would like it and for CTE i would also require a number of people who would like that!!!

uhh i do not know what to do so i will get back to here in the morning (it is 3AM in stupid rainy country)

do not fear, i will begin production on one of the two, and i do hope that my characterisation of the figures contained within will garner slightly more recognition than Lackloster!!

i think i might just follow through with my last idea

here's a poll of my ideas for any of you random people scrolling past to help me figure out what I should move on to

Lackloster was just a project I came up with in November to try and get my name out there, but it doesn't seem to have worked. maybe it's lacking character or maybe it's just not interesting enough, but I'm getting tired of it. I'm not going to can it 3 pages before completion, I'm just going to begin publication of a different project

12 Year Termination

a rather old story, it's based off of the stories of Sonic Forces (to a very sharp point) and Where Was My Hero? (also to a very sharp point)

there are two main characters here; General Blue, and Captain Prowl, who are later re-titled to Captain Midnight and General Prowler

the prominent thing is that the war from Sonic Forces never ended, and the two forces only continuously ramped up their efforts and weaponry. also we are pretending that infinite the jackal doesn't exist.

okay, so this story's plotline is that the General and Captain are out battling in the frontlines, when they are directly stricken by a mortar, it doesn't kill the Captain, but it leaves him gravely wounded, and kills the General.

luckily, he had planned for an event in which one of his comrades fell during a particularly heated battle, and it turns out it is the old Archie/SatAM concept of roboticization!

not entirely, though, as he just shoves what's left of the General into a robotic vessel, and powers it on

from there, i am not going to spoil anything else, just know that the Captain locks himself outside after activating the new General, and he's encountered by something he hasn't had to fight before.

and then he acts a bit different from then on (also that's the point where they're changed to Captain Midnight and General Prowler, Sonic has been demoted)

Capture The Emeralds

cte is being produced as the primary project.

very much inspired by nixliz's Capture The Intelligence TF2 horror game. my take is almost a direct copy, but it isn't close to being a direct copy, it uses sonic characters and has a storyline which i need to correct. the main person (in this case the player) is Mecha Mk.2, or just Mecha, as I call him (i also call Mk.1 Steel Sonic), and their manager is Rouge.

in context, you have been working for a branch of G.U.N. since your expulsion from the Eggman Empire in 1994, when you were defeated by both Sonic and Knuckles in fights in Sky Sanctuary Zone, and were assumed dead by your creator. though you were reformed and adopted by GUN to work as an agent (alongside agents Shadow, Rouge and Omega), though the latter and former persons didn't really like you all too much

anyways, the main thing is that 10 people have gone missing, though only 8 really matter, and all of this has happened within the span of 3 hours. other than being tasked with locating what happened to the cast, you are also dispatched (on a personal mission by your manager) to track down the 7 missing emeralds, which have also been narrowed to the "last seen" locations of your targets

the game would function on a level-based system, with 7 in total, a hard mode (where you would play as Rouge, it's called Two Shades Of Red) and a technical endless mode (called Resistance Mode)

each character has been "decayed" in some form, by that i mean that Tails has been turned into a "walking" tree, Silver has been turned into ice cubes, and Shadow has been turned into a crystal formation

you'll get the other characters (there's 10(technically 9) of them) if CTE is selected from that poll, just know they are all at least mildly gory

Timehopper

kind of inspired by Sonic Prime, but it's more thought up just because of a set of songs that I listen to

takes place at the end of time itself, but not by natural causes. the plot direction is a tiny little smidgeon-bit like that of it's faux inspiration, but i will note down the tiniest little hint as to it here

the viewer is only to see through the eyes of Gadget the Wolf and Barry the Quokka, you'll understand why in a bit, and their task here is to search for what remains of their friends

this cataclysmic event was partly caused by you, and partly caused by Robotnik messing around with stuff he shouldn't have been. specifically, he's built some stupid power harnessing thing around some weird crystalline growth emerging from the core of the planet, and you destroy it, which seems to completely erase your world from history, and splits what's left of your friends into different versions of the original

now you don't really know whether or not the world will ever be fixed again, but you do know a few things;

first off, Gadget and Barry have been merged into one body by the collision, i'll just call them Badger for simplicity, and second off, just as Prime Sonic can, Badger can hop through different "Fatalities" (what they call the worlds)

these worlds are as follows:

The Nuclear Option - a post-fallout version of the world run by Tails and Knuckles, they seem to have had a dispute in the past, though. also this world was once ridden with a plague, which is precisely why it is solely inhabited by echidnas and foxes (science stuff, they just used their silly little DNA strands to recreate themselves in different generations but none of them act the exact same or even similarly to the originals)

Greatest Britannica - somewhat based off of Sonic and The Black Knight, though, if I had to choose any one inspiration, it would have to be simple medieval England, the hierarchy system, the disrespect for the poor, the enslavement of all employees, etc. also Amy is the queen of this one, and her character is extremely slightly (i mean barely) based off of one from ⭐man slaughter

Cyber-Digital Revolution - it's a bit cyberpunk-esque, but i would say it's more inspired by concepts of what the internet could really have been and just large scale pixel art in general, but the main characters are Sonic and Shadow, they're essentially cyber-criminals or thieves. this world has evolved beyond the need for corporeal form anymore

Newer London - like 20th century London mixed with the Smog of the Industrial Revolution, main characters (though an outlandish combination) are Big and Rouge, there are these storms that wash through, they turn anybody outside during them to ash, but there are some big warnings before they roll in

Mandela Nation - not finished, but it consists of the Chaotix (i mean Mighty, Espio and Vector) in a world where everything they've ever been shown or believed in has been made up and implanted into their minds. it's based off of the Mandela Effect, strictly ONLY the Effect

1995 G.R.E.E.N. - similar to TNO in the sense that it's post-apocalyptic, but in a different sense, this place is overgrown; infested, even. it contains Cream and Vanilla. based off of Solarpunk aesthetics and abandonment of old constructs to be adopted by nature

Interplanetary Intersection Zone - the world has been shattered; broken into pieces, and then repaired individually. main characters are Silver and Blaze. no particular inspiration, maybe the void from Sonic Prime, where the constellations of his friends talk about him (also the Super Genesis Wave from Archie Comics, but Hyper)

Desolate Isolate - it's just a checkerboard floor and an endless void. the only inhabitant of which is Robotnik, he's tried to leave, but simply can't. he can't die here, there is just nothing. he is the only figure you'll come across that remembers what you did

I have no clue as to what happens at the ultimate of this story, but I have a very clear idea as to how The Nuclear Option happened, and I'll write that eventually.

Expunging Of An Angel

a story of an actual angel being banished from their realm in heaven, and taking a form awfully similar to that of Sonic The Hedgehog, though this world is completely different, the main cast is as follows: Milo Prowlers, Amelia Ross, Knox-Als (yes, it is a real name) Dread, Tersius Hejok (also real name), and Siliker Viennas. their names are all in reference to either their real in-game names or their concept names; knuckles' original name was "dreds" (before it was considered discriminatory), Tersius is as similar to Terios as I could get without slipping out of Greek names, and Hejok is just a near-homophone to Hedgehog, Amelia is just an extended version of the name Amy, Tails' name is actually Miles Prower, which I think every sonic fan ever knows, and Viennas is in reference to the fact that Silver's original name was Venice, and Vienna is close enough for my liking.

anyways, the story focuses on the fact that each of them (-Siliker) are religious, and follow the same religion of which the angel in term (called Anjelik, or just Anjel for short) is sprung from, he originally came to symbolise the Rapture, but soon realises exactly who this main 4 (not Siliker) are, and why they don't want him to reap anyone, whether sinful or faithful

also every character resembles different sins (except for Milo, he is perfect), Amelia represents Lust, as she obsessed over this world's Sonic (his name is Sunk Hedges, and I'll get to why he isn't a live figure when I end up releasing this story in full), Knox represents Envy, he tends to get into fights and presents himself with rage towards anybody he views as above or below him, Tersius represents Pride, Greed, Gluttony and Wrath, he is a rich, self-absorbed figure, though he still wills himself to be associated with his lesser friends, and Siliker's only sin is atheism

just to keep you aware, this takes place in 2005, and I had to do a bit of stuff to do with Siliker's age because 06 came out in... 2006, and 14 + (-1) is 13, and I need a full cast of adults, so I'm saying now that Sonic 06 came out in 2000, (the way their ages are calculated is by 2005 - (the year their game was made) + their canon age in-game(-TERSIUS))

the story is due to cover some rather dark matters, and is a very light, considerate jab at modern-day religion as a whole, though purposefully focusing on a specific singular one (also the concept of Anjelik is much more focused on old medieval-era religion)

(it also has a sub-story called "Lá Breithe Shona Duit" of which is an AU of this AU in which both Sunk and Rogue (AU Rouge) are still alive, and nobody is religious, it details their Christmas holiday, and them being tormented by Anjel during it, as he isn't just an angel in this sub-story)

i get this odd feeling

i just really want to get lackloster over with

i'm not saying that i don't like the series or the concept, but it's just gotten old to me

i have so many other projects i've been writing for way longer

but just the fact that i haven't finished publishing lackloster feels like i'm being held back

also i feel as though i've embarrassed myself in the non-existent presence of someone

if i had a particular gathering of people who i knew appreciated my work, i would probably run a poll or something to see what project i should focus on next, but i don't, and that's just how it is

anyways i suddenly really like manual blast again <3

ASPHYXIATE

All of Launch Base is fine, Sonic just seems a bit down, and he doesn't have Tails with him.

He swiftly dispatches of the Ball Shooter, following suit with the Beam Rocket, though, when he destroys the Big Arm, something goes horribly wrong; rather than simply breaking apart, the thruster on the back of it launches itself at full speed into the side of the Death Egg; the explosion blasts Robotnik out of the cockpit, scorching the right side of his face and burning off his right sleeve.

He's flung towards the platform where Sonic is stood, though he just barely misses it, latching onto the edge with his burnt hands, he calls out,

"Sonic! Please!"

Sonic freezes in place, he sees a faint memory of himself allowing Tails to wander off into Ice Cap, but he quickly snaps himself out of it. He sprints over to Robotnik, but just barely misses his hand as he falls.

{"Not again."}

Sonic refuses to allow another person die in his absence, and so he jumps down after Robotnik.

Looking back up, the Death Egg's supports are crumbling; it's falling down into Launch Base. He gazes around him, seeing as parts of the construct fall from the sky and crash into the factory, breaking pipes open and shattering tiles.

Skylines blaze past, the air above begins to glow red as the superweapon reaches a critical state; the exterior falling apart and melting the insides, they're on a timer.

Luckily, Sonic has gripped onto Robotnik's left hand; the less scorched one. But now they're just holding hands, there's nothing either of them can do to prevent their fall.

"I'm sorry."

Sonic looks away while he says this, more focused on what he might be able to see before his life ends, but he doesn't see much; rubble falling through the sky, the endless being-ruined factory floor, and water, a lot of water. He might not die to the fall after all.

The pair land in the actively rising "water", Launch Base is built on a lake, after all. But they're both rendered unconscious on contact, I wouldn't reckon that anything alive would be okay after such a fall, and with no preparation to come into contact with a body of water.

Let's switch perspective from Sonic to Robotnik.

Ivo awakens in a dark, enclosed environment, he feels as though he's been doused with water, and he's still submerged in it. Going to open his mouth, he immediately realises that he cannot breathe, there's a sharp, burning pain in his chest, his throat feels as if it's blocked by something, he coughs and he splutters, but nothing happens, he is stuck within one of the pipes connected to the Death Egg, slowly drowning. It's not particularly slow, but a full minute in the dark, progressively being able to feel less and less, it must feel like eternity in there.

Luckily for you, I know the least about what happens when you drown, so I'll leave it at that, Robotnik is stuck within one of those large transport pipes which connect all over Launch Base, so was Sonic, but he is significantly smaller, and so simply spindashed out, only looking back to watch as the Death Egg comes crashing down into the island, producing a massive explosion as it does so.

He can't see Eggman anywhere nearby, so he must've stayed in Launch Base as the D.E. went down. That's another one of Sonic's 3 known persons dead. But he hasn't seen him dead yet, so he accounts for him as "missing".

It's better to look for him than to just leave, there's no getting to Mushroom Hill without him, anyways.

IS THERE AN EXIT

Casually having demolished the Egg Golem in Sandopolis, Sonic peers into where the Egg Mobile would've sat within it, and sees nothing. His own eyes flash him a vision of Launch Base, nothing in particular, but a body of water and the checkerboard tiles. He quickly shakes his head and sprints back out to the surface, expecting to be encountered by his most recent adversary; Knuckles.

But he doesn't find him. Well, not immediately.

After realising that the pyramid had fallen back into the ground, he began to search around for the echidna. Majority of the ancient city had crumbled back to sand after Sonic's run through, though there are still a few landmarks left around, of which are completely ignored by him.

"Hellooo..? Red? Angry red guy? You out here?"

Just for the sake of speeding this up, Sonic locates where the pyramid once stood, and he sees a mass of crushed badniks in the sand. He dips his left shoe into the sand, and it isn't quicksand, so he sprints straight across it and to the centre of the pit. Here, amidst the robotic parts, he lays his eyes upon something atrocious,

"What in the f**k?"

[Of course that's out of character, but allow me to describe what exactly he's looking at.]

A terrible, foul odour emanates from the mess in the sand, Sonic looks down with a look of pure, unadulterated disgust across his face, he seems as if about to gag, but he shifts the sand away from it, revealing cracked; mangled bone and flesh intertwined.

Though about to throw up, he forces himself to place a gloved hand onto the carrion, pulls it out of the pile, and swiftly chucks it onto one of the sandstone platforms nearby.

{"Look at him, look what you did to him. LOOK AT HIM, YOU MORON!"}

He stares, but can't force himself to look for too long; Knuckles' arms are clearly broken, same with most of the rest of his skeleton, there are bones jabbing out through his skin and flesh in random directions, his skull is open, and visibly open. Sonic looks him in his dead eyes, but shields his own as they begin to bloat and melt, his torso is open, his ruptured stomach hanging out of the hole, and his ribcage puncturing his lungs.

Sonic's breaking point was when a bulge began to show itself atop Knuckles' head, which quickly revealed itself to be his brain boiling within his fractured skull, Sonic barely turns around in time to avoid the shards of bone and chunks of flesh being splattered all around as it bursts through,

"I- I can't... f**king disgusting.."

He holds his neck and his mouth with his hands, seemingly about to vomit, and sprints away. Though he did manage to grab one of his (now detached) knuckles (the spikes on his gloves) before he left.

apologies, some events have occurred today which have forced me to postpone the release of Is There An Exit.

I'll try to write it out, but I'm unsure whether or not I'll be able to get to it before it hits midnight, and I don't write past midnight.

anyways, allow me to give you a slight excerpt;

as per usual, I'm going to wait until the morning to post anything significant

I haven't even plotted how Asphyxiate will go on, or Is There An Exit, or Must Not Get Wet, or the penultimate Lackloster scene itself.

So I'll be needing to write those four* out tomorrow in the morning.

*There's actually 5 more things I have to do, I didn't note No Touchy.

If you understand what I'm doing here, you'll get the reference from the name No Touchy as to what the final scene will be.

CASCADE

After following Sonic all the way to Sandopolis, Knuckles had assumed it would just be the regular cat-and-mouse thing; Act 1 went off without a hitch, but, Act 2...

Whilst stalking him, Knuckles could tell that something was off about Sonic; the spontaneous crying, the incessant rambling, the ignorance of badniks. This was all wrong. But he continued onwards.

Knuckles watches in anguish as Sonic jumps onto the button of the capsule which contained the Hyudoros, though they hadn't noticed him yet. He took this gladly, and continued to fruitlessly pursue the hedgehog.

Fatefully, Knuckles followed Sonic into the pyramid, and, at the second star post, he was finally noticed by Sonic, though he didn't engage conversation first,

"What're you doing here?!"

Sonic glares at him in a disdainful manner,

"I could ask you the same."

The two stare at each-other, Knuckles has his generic look of rage on his face, and Sonic looks worn out; mildly annoyed.

But the lovebirds' staring competition doesn't last for long, as one of the Hyudoros manages to pull out the plug holding the sand in while the room darkened, causing Sonic to jump and begin his ascent out of the pyramid. He doesn't intentionally leave Knuckles behind, he had no choice, but, nevertheless, he leaves Knuckles as burning hot sand begins to fill the pyramid.

"BLUE RAT! GET BACK HERE!"

Knuckles has been to this place near hundreds of times, he'd easily know how to get out of here, but, something is very different this time. He jumps up the same platforms that Sonic had, but finds himself trapped in a room further upwards, turns out, to Knuckles' surprise, Sonic is significantly faster than himself, and has already made it most of the way to the top of the pyramid, but, to get all that way up, he would've had to have released a few more of those sand dispensers.

Looking ahead, which he can't, the way upwards is clogged by a mass of sand which appears to still be expanding. Knuckles isn't one to go down without a fight, though.

He launches himself directly into the ever-growing pile of sand, digging his knuckles into the blockade in an attempt to scrape it away, though he manages to dig himself into the pile, he can't get himself back out, and resorts to climbing up.

Knuckles is now surrounded by nothing but sand, he's trying his best to dig upwards while not suffocating, but seems to be finding it quite hard, every patch of sand that touches his skin and fur burns him, it's scorching hot; they're in the middle of a desert,

"YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME HERE!"

He calls out into the shifting walls around him; there's nobody nearby to hear his cry, but he still calls out.

Knuckles continues digging, shouting every now and then, though it tends to just coat his face in sand; scorching hot sand. At the start of his meaningless ascent, he considered to just spit it back out, until he remembered that sand hardens when wet, and that would be a mildly revolting and menial task to break through once more if he were to fall, so he abides to simply keep his mouth shut. Though I'm unsure just how long he can hold his breath for. (it's 18 seconds)

While he endlessly climbs up through the sand, of which is still piling into his face; blinding him and choking him out, he hears a rather faint sound, almost as if something like brick is scraping against another brick. It doesn't take all too long to realise that the pyramid is lowering back into the ground; Sonic has defeated the Egg Golem,

"COME BACK!"

He once again screams out into the powder, which does nothing but cause it to cave in upon him. The pressure of a full pyramid and an insurmountable weight of sand is enough to crush his ribcage flat, his blood boils in his veins and his stomach is ruptured; seeping out acid into his already evaporating bloodstream.

Knuckles lies, his body's vital functions rapidly shutting down, and his skull about to be crushed by the sand, he manages to clear enough sand from his face to speak his final words,

"Damned... Hedgehog..."

His last sand-filled breath is wasted on cursing out Sonic, who is currently stood outside of Sandopolis, heading off to Lava Reef, blissfully unaware of what fate has befallen Knuckles. Not that he would like to know.
