I love that Sam and Bucky's relationship is much healthier now.
They always used to look like they were physically unable to stay away from each other. Which is great to witness when you're a shipper, but not something you want in a relationship.
If you look at Sam/Steve or Steve/Bucky, they're always had the kind of friendship where they were able to do things separately. But Sam and Bucky? They've never been able to do that.
Sam and Bucky, have been "inseparable" (Sebastian's words not mine), ever since we saw them together in Captain America: Civil War. And they weren't even supposed to be that close but they were always paired up together.
It gave us these 2 iconic scenes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We saw them getting even closer in Avengers: Endgame, with Sam comforting Bucky at Tony's funeral.
And who did Sam turn to when faced with the biggest decision of his life? Bucky. Not Steve, his best friend. He looked at Bucky for reassurance.
Tumblr media
Even at the beginning of the Falcon and the Winter Soldier, when they were supposed to be angry with eachother, Bucky wouldn't leave Sam's side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And at the end of the show when they solved all of their problems, Bucky basically moved to Sam's hometown.
It's not only their scenes together, but also the way the cast and crew talks about them, Sebastian said they were inseparable, in the Captain America: Civil War Press tour. Anthony said that Sam and Bucky "can't do without each other" in the FATWS press tour.
Anthony also had this headcanon that Sam visited Bucky every other weekend when he was in Wakanda, during the Avengers: Infinity War press tour.
Even the cast members see Sam and Bucky as an item, and never expects them to stay away from each other for a long time.
As Malcolm Spellman said; "they are family in a way that feels like will last forever in the MCU"
In Captain America: Brave New World we saw a much more mature version of Sam and Bucky's relationship. They're able to do their own thing, and still be there for one another when they need to.
They know where they stand in eachother lives and are comfortable with it. Bucky's picture is literally front and center in Sam's office.
There's no way tfatws!Sambucky would have been to do separately things for such a long time ... Bucky would have asked to go on missions with Sam or Sam would have stayed with Bucky during his campaign.
I really like that Sam and Bucky are now in a place where they can indeed be without eachother when necessary, but still know how important the other is in their life.

So in the end Johnny’s still bullying children and nothing has changed at all. The snake will forever be eating its own tail, but that’s a good thing apparently. Awesome.

SPOILERS FOR COBRA KAI SEASON 6 PART 3
Regarding Johnny
I especially want this post to be about Johnny's need to win. When he held Laura in his arms telling her that this was his second opportunity to make everything right, I genuinely thought that they were gonna have Johnny realize that HE ALREADY HAS THAT. A clean slate where he can actually be a good father, a good husband, somebody that's in the present and that looks towards his future. His second opportunity is literally in his arms. I guess he kinda did realize that with the pep talk Daniel gave him on how there are people that care for him including him.
But I feel the show emphasized his win as the real culmination of this decade-long personal conflict. You know who had that realization instead? ROBBY 😭😭 OUT OF ALL PEOPLE. My opinion on his win itself is a little mixed, I'm still not entirely sure what to think of it.
And my opinion over not liking them getting Cobra Kai back still stands. I just wish it had been a little different.

No spoilers but careful nonetheless
Just finished season 6 part 3 and I liked some parts, I disliked others– I was successful at avoiding the leaks that came out before part 3 came out but it pretty much came out just as I expected.
I might do multiple posts to talk about the things I did like, but man I'm especially bummed out with Robby's and Sam's ending. Like the only ending I feel was satisfying and earned was Tory's, but I got a feeling Imma change my mind when everything marinades in my mind

Since we're all gonna die (Cobra Kai s6 p3 coming out soon), I feel like there's one more secret I have to share with you.
I do not want Miguel to become captain of Cobra Kai and win the sekai taikai. Nor for Johnny to get Cobra Kai back.
Do not like it, do not like the way leaks presume they're going to get it. And much less that Robby is honestly going the get the short end of the stick again by getting a career changing injury especially after the 8 minute leak that came out. I'm a sucker for stories that highlight how life doesn't go as expected including lifelong dreams, but I think Robby has had enough of that bro 😭 I've seen pretty much everyone voice their distaste in this part, but I haven't seen much about Miguel so you know me 🫶
So for me, this is not something that favors Miguel as a character at all. Becoming a replacement for a spot that he likely didn't do anything to earn I think completely diminishes the effort he put into trying to become captain in the first place. Who knows how it may happen when my guess is that Yoon will take Kwon's place, kinda tricky to take the spot of a dead kid too imo. Cobra Kai has impacted Miguel in more ways than just a shift in his attitude and idealogy. It's easily part of the reason why he experienced a near-death experience in the first place. So for him to return to a dojo that literally changed his life for the worst, alongside the guy that has audibly said that Cobra Kai will always be tainted by Kreese's legacy is such a nasty character assassination for both Miguel and Johnny. Miguel doesn't need to be captain to be on top and to succeed. The way that he's become Robby's right hand man after everything they've gone through is too good to be taken away man, come on.
EDIT: I be always posting without finishing my thoughts man istg. But wanting to add about Robby — If the writers are trying to have Robby's arc be that he defeats all odds even after everything he's gone through, giving him another injury is not the way to send that message. It would genuinely be much more powerful if they allow Robby to keep the captaincy he won fair and square and show him succeed after feeling like everything in his life was against him. It doesn't have to be everything he has left, but it could show that somebody's past does not define their future. It's the absolute conclusion of his series-long arc, and I think there's no better way of doing him justice than giving him a win on the top after starting from rock bottom.
I have a TINY amount of faith that they have been playing with us all this time and everyone will actually stay in Miyagi Do, giving both Robby and Miguel the ending they deserve and have Tory ACTUALLY fight along side everyone finally, but at this point, I can't expect anything else. At least it doesn't seem that Sam actually quits karate forever and becomes just a cheerleader on the sidelines.
Maybe.

With the show ending pretty soon, I'm so massively sad how little they actually explored Miguel as a character. I understand he's essentially the "relatable main character anyone can put themselves in," unfortunately making him stuck in a position that doesn't really allow writers to add layers to his character and allow him to have that amount of agency in the story the same way they did with say Robby or Tory, but it still makes me sad especially with how so much of the fandom thinks the writers favor him. I'm always happy to overanalyze the hell out of my boy tho.
Would It Have Been Better If....
we gained more emphasis in Miguel's insecurities and develop them throughout the story?
I mean, he claimed he ruined his chances with Sam. But what does he feel regret for? He never explicitly apologized to Robby for his actions. As for Johnny, we don't get to his side of the equation that much. We have to assume what he feels regret for. We know Miguel keeps his thoughts and feelings to himself and doesn't express them and that is unhealthy, but even if he doesn't open up how he feels to others, we could have seen his POV visually.
In Season 2, his insecurities as a fighter could have been explored. He could have questioned if he deserved the win due to Johnny's discipline and online criticism for how he won the tournament while sinking deeper into the Cobra Kai teachings due to Kreese exploiting the insecurities, leading him to ultimately show mercy to Robby.
In Season 3, the writers could have put more emphasis on his change after his injury. He could have had PTSD from the fall but hid it from everyone until overcoming it by the end. We could have had Miguel slowly realize that over the course of the season that he played a part in his own downfall due to his actions in Season 1 and 2.
In Season 4, we could have dived into more of his insecurities regarding Sam and Johnny even though Robby wasn't around them, and more emphasis on his missing biological father. We could have seen him continue to struggle with his back and seek out Daniel as a sensei for himself.
In Season 5, Miguel could have realized that Hector is what he would have become if not for the guidance of Johnny and Daniel. When he sees Robby again, we could have been given a reason why he picked fights with Robby again despite not doing so in Seasons 3 and 4.
In Season 6, we could have understood why he wanted to go to Stanford and we could have had another reason of him wanting the captain spot: to win a tournament honorably.
But no, we didn't get that. Then again, he is a fascinating character to look at, despite us having to unnecessarily make inferences about him.

I might do a whole ass series of posts regarding Miguel and Robby just staring at each other an analyzing what might be going on behind those glances. The writers sucked at giving them the depth they deserved, but giving credit where credit is due, they do know sometimes how to show and not tell, and the quiet glances that they give to each other from time to time does that pretty nicely in my opinion. Xolo and Tanner also help bring these messages across so kudos for their acting 🗣🔥
Or I could be completely wrong and they just staring at each other cause oh they're rivals grrrr.
ALSO THANK YOU EVERYONE for the feedback in the last post. I didn't think so many people would read what I wanna say. Yall real ones 😭🫂
So this time, I'm going alllll the way back to season 3 to talk about a scene that goes pretty under the radar when it comes to them and I think is really interesting (excuse the quality):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one is a bit long ngl
Getting what's very telling out of the way – is insane that Miguel's look here barely resembles any kind of anger or hatred towards Robby. The situation isn't really the best for him to bring up any of that and he knows that, but Miguel isn't exactly the best at hiding his emotions, and to hide any (justifiable) anger he had towards Robby after what happened during the school fight wouldn't have been easy at all for him.
His experience was insanely traumatic. That's not something you can simply forget, nor your mind nor your body. But yk the writers, they don't actually like to explore anything with Miguel in depth–
Finding each other after going through one of, if not the hardest and most traumatic events of their lives at that point must have brought up pretty complex emotions they aren't sure what to do with. When they meet in Miyagi Do earlier in the season, Robby does resort to his anger from how betrayed he feels by the people he thought he could trust completely turn his back on him (in his pov). There might have been resentment towards Miguel, but I feel like that act of throwing a punch at him was more out of impulse caused by a fresh wound and the behavior he had to keep for months in juvie.
In this scene, Robby is angry but I heavily doubt any anger is directed towards Miguel at that moment. Instead, they look at each other blinking slowly as if it was hard to believe that they were in the presence of the other now that the situation had nothing to do with their rivalry.
Especially for Miguel. Not only for what happened between them but for what he thought of Robby once he saw him stepping out of the dojo right behind Kreese.
He didn't look angry. Man, he barely even seemed angry towards Robby regarding his injury compared to how he was with Johnny. Because even if he didn't know much about Robby, he did know one thing about him. Miyagi Do is about honor and balance, and he's seen Robby uphold those teachings with pride since the first time he fought him in their first tournament. Something that he massively lacked and nearly loss complete sight of when Kreese came into the picture.
Even if they weren't in the best terms in season 2, Miguel at least esteemed Robby's honor and balance the more he saw that Cobra Kai's teachings didn't have those principles he himself believed in. Maybe at some point he saw that what Robby did to him wasn't out of revenge or out of pure hatred towards him, it was because he was angry and he let his emotions take control, causing an accident that he knew the Robby he fought against in the tournament would have immediately regretted.
So to see this Robby come out, wearing a Cobra Kai gi and taking the side of the same old man who's philosophy nearly pushed him towards a very dangerous ideology had to feel like being hit by a truck. Because as much as it might be hard for him to admit it due to his ego, Robby was supposed to be better than him. He was supposed to be more honorable and with more integrity than him; to see that the rhetoric Cobra Kai wants to push isn't the right way to do things.
How was somebody like Robby now in the same position he was in? In the position that brought them to where they were in the first place? Miguel can only guess so much with what he knows from Johnny. He doesn't know that he's pretty much homeless or that his mom isn't available for him. He barely knows what he went through in juvie, or how Johnny chose him over his biological son and how that made him feel.
He's completely left in the dark wondering why Robby didn't care anymore. Thus, looking perplexed as he does in the scene.
If this is the case, he might have been the only one of the teens to see Robby past the mistakes that were made and past the choices he took from the very beginning. He wanted to understand what was going on, but who was he to even approach him?
This is why in season 4 I honestly would have loved it if they had fought instead of Eli fighting Miguel. Keep Eli winning, I liked that he won the tournament a lot, but just give Robby and Miguel a fight 🙏 It's not a 1:1 parallel but since they have pretty much flipped sides, it would force them to look at the other in the eye and notice sides of each other that they have not seen in earlier fights, giving them a sense of deja vu yet see what made this different. We could have gotten Robby's reaction to Miguel feeling a sharp pain in his lower back too after attempting that jumping kick. I feel this way the tournament could have had so much more weight emotionally, and it could have added another layer to the relationship that could work well with Robby ultimately turning away from Cobra Kai and deciding to stay in Mexico to search for Miguel with his dad.

AND HOW DOES MIGUEL FEEL I forgot to add in that bit there. Someone pointed out in the comments that this time Miguel does notice him when they hug unlike the time him and Johnny hugged in season 1.
I feel this was the point where they reached mutual understanding of what the other was going through involving Johnny. Robby's presence reminded him of who Johnny was for him, it reminded him of how he was the father Robby never got to have and why he was so bitter against the two of them.
It doesn't automatically fix everything between them, but that was the first time they finally looked eye to eye free from all the karate drama and rivalry and mistakes from the past. As brief as it was, they were finally on common ground.
Completely random thought but I recalled the few discussions I've seen regarding the whole Mexico situation with Robby, Johnny, and Miguel, and I agree so much with how Johnny lowkey highkey manipulated Robby just seconds after he was ready to send this boy back to LA alone in a bus 😭😭
But you know what I don't see talked about (Or be complete ignored/misunderstood when it is)? This scene:
Tumblr media
A lot of people take it as Robby longingly looking at a relationship he could only wish of having with his dad, and I think that's true, but it's kinda surprising for me how when people have this in mind, it never crosses their minds that he might also be feeling sympathy for Miguel.
He doesn't know a thing of what happened before they found him, I'm sure he only knows he left to go search for his dad, but nobody understands the hard truth that hits you like a truck after being crushingly let down by a parental figure you had so much faith for like Robby does. The show didn't allow enough time for this arc to show how impactful it was for Miguel. He didn't know Hector for his whole life, but he knew the absence of a father he subconsciously has been seeking for since the beginning of the series. His presence has always been there even if he wasn't there ykyk
And after finding it, somebody he could rightfully call his dad instead of feeling like a replacement for someone else's son, it's instantly taken away as soon as his own dad practically threatens him the moment he took out that glock.
Robby knows so damn well what it feels to be abandoned and disappointed after naively thinking your dad was someone you could rely on. He knows exactly how Miguel feels, and it's just such a complicated set of emotions when all of these feelings wre manifested by the very same guy that is giving Miguel the support he needs. It is bs that they didn't dive deeper into this with them. It could have been so good bro, it could have been so interesting.

THIS!!! I think this is such an important piece of Miguel's character that so many people tend to easily forget about (more specifically people who aren't immigrants or children of immigrants) when discussing his behavior during the sekai taikai. They immediately cross him as selfish and an asshole without thinking further about why he's acting that way.
Losing the opportunity to be the face that represents a team in an internationally televised tournament isn't only about jealousy, ego or entitlement for Miguel as much as people love to claim that it is. As a brown latino boy with a poor upbringing, he has to work double as hard to prove to others that he's just as capable and educated as everyone else. It's been shown in the past how people look down on him due to his background, immediately deeming him as uneducated or incapable until he proves them otherwise. It's a reality so many immigrants and really people of color as a whole have to face on the daily.
We have to prove that we are capable to people that know absolutely nothing about us.
Miguel isn't only doing this for his future or for an "ego boost." He's doing this to show his family that their immense sacrifice wasn't in vain especially after experiencing first-hand why they left everything they knew behind for their safety. It's a heavy responsibility children of immigrants do often place on themselves regardless if it was imposed on them or not. Why else do you think he was one of the few that was actually focused regardless of what was going on in his surroundings?
It doesn't mean that it justifies how he acted towards Robby, nor am I saying that Robby didn't deserve to be captain, but an opportunity of this caliber for somebody in his position in society means more than a secured acceptance letter from a prestigious university.
Miguel’s want to go to Stanford is super lame and underdeveloped but at the same time is good. like what does he want to study? idk. every tv show is obsessed with elite schools and this is sort of annoying.
but this kid has worked his ass off to get straight As (this is mentioned the same year he was in a coma btw). he’s moved around his whole life. he’s from a family of immigrants. he’s greeted by racist jokes upon meeting people. his mom has never been fully honest about his dad. so he does something dumb to find out his father doesn’t even know he exists and doesn’t deserve to. On top of that, he was in a coma and a wheelchair and lost several friends to cobra kai and he himself was in cobra kai and he’s been bullied repeatedly and beaten on several occasions.
Then, we all watch in season 4 when he goes over to his rich girlfriend’s house and they ask about college and he says Stanford and they all say “wow that’s a great school.” everyone is so impressed. and there’s just honestly something so great about that. to get in to and go somewhere that makes people think something of you, everyone in the country recognizes the name. somewhere that can guarantee a future that should pay back what it cost financially and maybe being apart of something like that will pay back every thing else his adolescence cost too

Cobra Kai x PJO
I put out a poll for each of the "main" 6 Cobra Kai teens to determine their demi-godly parentage, and will now inundate you with head cannons for each one :)
Miguel Diaz - 50% of the vote determined his parent to be "Apollo or Asclepius (god of healing)", 32.4% for Nike (goddess of Victory), 14.7% for Tyche (goddess of luck, success, and prosperity), and 2.9% for Ares (god of war)
Son of Apollo, blessed by Asclepius, Miguel has more healing prowess than his cabin mates by far. His powers work best when the sun is at its highest point in the sky, and he often needs to recharge by being in the sun. On the summer solctice his powers work so well he could bring someone back from the brink of death, but on the winter solstice he struggles to even close up a paper cut. Miguel also has a smaller secondary power to brighten up a room with his smile, literally.
Robby Keene - 72.1% of the vote determined his parent to be "Hermes (god of athletes, travelers, and thieves)", 16% for Heracles (god of athletes), 9.3% for Ares (god of war), and 2.3% for Dionysus (god of wine)
Son of Hermes, Robby, has an innate sense of direction. His power functions as its own GPS, always guiding him to where he wants to go. He also has a fair bit of luck in the thievery department, not that this is a power he likes to disclose. Pickpocketing comes easily to him and he has never been caught. unclear if he knows about these powers or just assumes that he's good at what he does.
Tory Nichols - 47.6% of the vote determined her parent to be "Ares (god of war)" , 23.8% for Nemesis (goddess of revenge and righting wrongs), 14.3% for Zelus (god of dedication and rivalry), and 14.3% for Menoetius (god of rash actions and human mortality)
Daughter of Ares, Tory has no powers to call upon usually, but in times of dire need she is the most likely to receive Ares' blessing. Favored by her father she is often victorious in battle.
Samantha LaRusso - scoring 34.1% each, a tie between Athena (goddess of war and strategy) and Themis (goddess of judgement and justice) , 22% for Tyche (goddess of luck and prosperity), and 9.8% for Aphrodite (goddess of love)
Daughter of Themis and Legacy of Athena, Sam has a mind for strategy. She has no outward power to call upon, but is still useful in a fight.
Eli Moskowitz - 48.6% of the vote determined his parent to be Proteus (god of change and transformations), 22.9% for Menoetius (god of violent anger and rash actions), 17.1% for Hermes (god of speed and messengers), and 11.4% for Hephaestus (god of craftsmen)
Son of Proteus, Eli has the ability to shapeshift. His power is not the strongest and can really only be used in the cosmetic sense. The majority of his use goes to changing his hair color and lenght. however, being the son of a minor water god, when near bodies of water he gains the ability to turn into a hawk. He has attempted to tun into other people or animals, yet has never succeeded in doing so, much to his disappointment.
Demetri Alexopolous - 41.2% of the votes determined his parent to be "Phobos (god of fear and panic)", 32.4% for Coreus (god / titan of intellect), 20.6% for Hephaestus (god of craftsmen), and 5.9% for Hermes (god of travelers)
Son of Phobos, Demetri has the ability to make other people feel his fear. He can't instill fear into other people, but if he's scared then those around him begin to feel fearful themselves. His emotions leak out, poisoning those physically close to him.
extras-
Number of quests: Miguel 4, Robby 4, Tory 3, Sam 3, Eli 1, Demetri 0
Tory and Robby are year-round campers
Miguel, Robby, Tory, and Sam are head counselors by merit. Eli and Demetri are head counselors by way of being the only ones in their respective cabins.
Number of beads/years at camp: Sam 7, Miguel 5, Eli 5, Robby 4, Tory 3, Demetri 2

With what has been going on recently with the series, and what one of the writers said regarding Robby's situation, it really has been some pretty grim few days for Cobra Kai. So I wanted to lighten up the mood a little (and because I have been in a very yapper mood) by talking a bit in depth about one of the better aspects of season 6 imo:
Robby's and Miguel's relationship
Warning this is long af woops
Tumblr media
Imma outright say it. It's been a while since I've rewatched the whole series, but besides Tory, Sam, and maybe Kenny (with the hesitant inclusion of Daniel), Miguel has been the only person Robby has built genuine trust and companionship throughout the whole series. And to an impactful degree I'd say.
I could argue all day about how their transition from enemies to friends was a little rushed, and how I would have liked a heart-to-heart conversation like what Tory and Sam had, but hear me out with what we got 🗣🔥
Robby's life has proven to him time and time again that opening his heart to people only led to him getting hurt. He never knew what it was like to rely on the people who were supposed to protect him. He never knew (presumably) what it was like to have people who genuinely cared for him. Until Daniel came into the picture. We know how that went.
Daniel, Sam, and Tory to a certain degree, they have fractured his trust in a way that reminds him of that cruel truth his life unfortunately continues to stumble upon: He will get hurt if he opens his heart to people. But he continues doing it because at his core, he wants to get rid of that lonliness he's been in for so many years. He's willing to swallow up his pain and forgive people if that means keeping them in his life. And if that's really the case, it makes so much sense why he went to seek Johnny when he had every reason to continue to resent him (and messy writing but we dont talk about that ehem). After telling himself Johnny wasn't and would never be an option for him, he was so lost that the only one he felt like he could turn to was the one absent father that has somewhat shown some interest in his well-being. Cobra Kai barely gave his life direction after juvie, and after losing that, what else did he have?
Tory was a kind of a pillar for sure. They understand each other well thanks to their shared experiences. But with the amount of baggage and trust issues Tory herself has to deal with, they hurt each other as much as they help each other. It's the status quo Robby has grown too used to.
And then there's Miguel.
Lil side tracking but I swear I am not tweaking when I say Robby is so touchy with Miguel. He's given other characters friendly gestures such as fist bumps and whatnot BUT WITH MIGUEL? That man's face beams like crazy when he sees him bro. Any chance he gets, he goes there touching his arms, chest, shoulders – wherever just to be close to him. He always turns to him whenever something happens, he openly messes around with him. He is just so happy to have Miguel in his life 😭
Tumblr media
They are such small moments, but after seeing how closed off and reserved he has been even with past relationships like with Sam and Daniel, Robby feels safe enough to enter Miguel's space and vice versa. Miguel has proven him he's somebody who unconditionally has his back. He explicitly tells him he wishes to keep a connection with him and that he's willing to put the work to do so regardless of the past.
It's such a deeply rooted trust that he keeps Miguel's opinion in such a high regard compared to everyone else's. Throughout the whole damn season, Miguel was the only one that made him see his potential and capabilities of being a captain. He saw his worth when everyone else either ignored him or crossed him as incapable, and Robby was very willing to believe that. Because he's always the problem, he always does things wrong. Miguel's sole words were enough to help Robby pick himself back up regardless of how polluted his mind was with demeaning thoughts he's reaffirmed to himself for years.
