Stash check: July 2024

Have cleaned up my stash on Ravelry, including adding new stash yarns (mainly several balls of J&S for an ambitious upcoming colourwork adventure), and marking many yarns as "all used up" (including anything I have less than 5g of because while they may work their way into scrappy projects, they don't weigh on me like larger quantities of yarn and prove very useful for mending).

Where are we at now? 5322g of yarn.

knitting from stash in 2023

Inspired by both The Crimson Stitchery's annual Stashless initiative and by RetroClaude's recent project to knit from stash, I've decided it’s time for me to give this a go, too.

So I started the year with a yarn audit. After making sure all my Ravelry projects were up to date and that all my yarn is entered into my Ravelry stash, I am slightly overwhelmed to have found that...

I have 6722g of yarn.

6.7kg!

Approximately 67 x 100g skeins.

For me, this is simply a shame-free exercise of remembering the beautiful crafting materials that I already have and appreciatively working through them. Although I am a little overwhelmed when I add it all up, I was actually pretty energized going through all of my existing yarns and I’m looking forward to making the projects that I’ve dreamed up for them.

Time to get knitting!

Pulled this photo from the 2019 Edinburgh Yarn Festival photo gallery because OMG WHAT IS THIS PATTERN? It’s beautiful! This person looks like they are standing at the Brooklyn Tweed market booth and I’ve searched Brooklyn Tweed patterns (on the off chance that it is one) and can’t seem to come up with a match.

Do you know what this pattern is? Please please tell me. I *must* knit it. <3
