HE ALREADY DOES TAKE FOOTBALL SERIOUSLY!!The whole point of Shidou is that football is basically his entire reason for existing, and i'd go as far as to say that he's one of the most passionate about football in blue lock.

Just because he doesn't have that "i need to be the best" mentality like Isagi or Rin doesn't mean he's not taking the sport just as seriously as the others.

Shidou doesn't care about the title of being number one but he does want to leave an imprint on the world before his death and his way of doing so is through his explosions and playing football.

At one point he said "No one loves football as much as to me" to Kunigami. If he's not taking football seriously then.. what is he here for? 😭
