I was just thinking about how Gaiman had read the god damn room and fucked off. About how I’d said my peace, packed away my books, seen him get projects canceled, and that was that until and unless he decided to poke his head out to check if the smoke had cleared. In which case we’d all need to make sure he knew it had not.

But now he’s going after one of the accusers. (Caroline Wallner, the woman who lived and worked on his NY property.) What the fuck does this asshole expect to get from this? He’s not doing for the money. Even with projects getting canceled, he doesn’t need it. He can’t be doing it for the optics. This isn’t going to win back ANY fans. The only thing it can be is malice and revenge. A petty little man trying to wrangle back whatever fraction of power and control he can. Fucking pathetic.

I sincerely doubt he’s on here checking his tag, but if he is, then he can rest assured that he is still sewage scum and can fuck right back off.

abortion rights concern bodily autonomy but the argument for it is not solely about bodily autonomy and it’s not comparable to any other form of it. abortion shouldn’t be compared to plastic surgery or those who want a cat tail body modification. it’s also not about a ‘right to life’. it’s people saying someone (no matter their age or state of personhood) should have a right to use someone else’s body against their will; a right we grant in no other circumstances. no other forms of bodily autonomy that people egregiously compare to abortion concerns this central issue. they are different

The fact that Neil Gaiman, after raping and sexually assaulting six highly vulnerable women, isn't getting a hundredth of the hate Amber Heard got for supposedly abusing one man who was twice her size (and actually, no, she was just reacting to his abuse of her) tells you all you need to know about how our culture views women.

You can say "No, you see, I usually support women, it's just that *this* woman actually is evil and deserves to be hated", but I don't believe you. You can say, "I definitely support his victims! I'm just sad and processing this information. I just need to grieve for a little while. I'm definitely not giving him a pass!" And I don't believe you. You can say, "We need more information to see if he really did it" but then ignore all of the overwhelming evidence in favour of a demonized woman, so I don't believe you.

i think one of the most frustrating things women experience is how people seem incapable of reading your sarcasm or unserious comments. everything gets taken literally, people sometimes wont even consider that you’re joking. I could say something that to be is quite obviously incredibly hyperbolic and people think im serious. Im so over it. Maybe men experience this too but i have noticed this happens a lot to women.

this beauty culture and its standarts are part of female gender norms.

'gender' is socially enforced patriarchy.

patriarchy is the male-supremacist (sexual and otherwise) colonization of women and girls.

women are the first - and the last - colony.

capitalism with its built-in inequality, class division and destructive nature is deeply linked with patriarchy and its necessary mindset of all-pervading misogyny. Just think for a minute, hiw many such systems, classes and castes, ideologies and dogmas wouldn't even exist as a factor of social worth and opportunity. No sexism at all, ageism would be way less & different, homophobia would be non-existent, materialistic status-thinking would be way different at least, the job market would be another world all together, education and access to it would look different, just like healthcare. Even things like science and research would be different; literally everything even down to language, culture, our daily lives - patriarchy and its misogyny premeat and influence literally everything.

and in one way only - negative.

now think about the media and its influence, paired with the newest technology available, including things like highly misogynistically biased AI systems etc.

this article is bad enough, but it is "only the tip of the iceberg".

if you think now about all the fields influenced by patriarchy mentioned above - how much more damage will such targeted technology have?

it is like automated, "optimized" and maximized oppression and exploitation.

automated inequality.
