im glad you liked the fudge!! i made it before i went looking for you, which is good, i dislocated my shoulder trying to figure out what was going on... least it wasnt my playing shoulder!! hurts a lot though. shouldve been watching the shadows a bit better than that, but i got away so its all right!!
if i dont get you anything tomorrow its because im still a bit beat up. ill be okay in a few days, i think, but right now i shouldnt be doing all that much. what do you do when you get real hurt? ive been in bed and it hurts and its boring!!!
You...dislocated your shoulder...trying to...?! What were you thinking? You shouldn't put yourself needlessly in danger like that.
Don't even think about getting up and around tomorrow. Stay home and rest.
Do you need anything? I know you have your brother but if you need help, you let me know.

Do you know who Iris's father is?
She lives with Mr. Sholmes, and I believe she sees him as a father. As for blood relations, I couldn't speculate, and you ought not gossip about a girl's family.

.......
How can you...
Aren't you angry?
My father used to take me on little trips into the mountains, just the two of us. We'd fish, hunt, and hike until we found somewhere beautiful, and then we would sit and talk or just admire the view. As we hiked back down and I'd complain of my feet, he would push me to go a little longer, just so I knew I could. Then when I lagged behind, he carried me on his shoulders. I'd usually be asleep by the time we got back to camp.

I didn't mean...
...I didn't mean for you to see this.
If you had the power to actually be the Reaper of the Bailey - I.e. follow your brother around as a ghost/spirit and kill criminals he didn't manage to prosecute successfully - would you? (assuming a world wherein the actual reaper was never a thing)
Anonymous-
The damage that was done to my brother while he bore the weight of the Reaper's crimes may never be mended. I would have continued as I was to spare him, yes, but I would not have become the Reaper. The most I might have done was kill Lord Stronghart, if ever it had occurred to me.
Yours in misty turns,
The Professor

I do. I'm sure you'd rather have it back in your care anyway, rather than in the hands of someone who could ruin it.
Does your sword have a name?
Anonymous-
Before it was given to Prosecutor Asogi, yes, it did. I do not know if he has renamed it.
Yours in belonging,
Prosecutor van Zieks

What are you hoping to achieve by disturbing the dead?
I don't think Klint van Zieks is very interested in resting in peace. If he were, there would be much better uses of his time. He wouldn't be on this hellish website. Why don't you ask him why he speaks ill of the dead? At least he can defend himself.
Anyway, he might have taken Lestrade's watch. And Lord van Zieks keeps talking to him and tagged me in one of his posts. Maybe I was morbidly curious. Is that so wrong? And then maybe got a little carried away.
All right fine, I shouldn't have done it. It was stupid and I paid for it. Now will you leave me alone?

I know I'm just wasting my breath, but you could call me Asogi.
Definitely human.
Not raising a hand against me? I wonder what he considers being brazen and vulgar.
So, so, Kazzy-kaz. Decided to terrorize Klinty-boy, huh? Not the approach I would've taken, but I suppose it's an approach. Not sure what you're trying to get out of it either. Boy's got his heart on a platter for you, you the boy he failed so badly, to whom he'll never be able to make things right.
I mean. If you just wanted a hug that badly, you could've just said so.
So I heard you called me Kazuma.
Are you fey? I thought you were Canadian.
Thanks for the offer on your reblog but don't do anything to the casks. If I could be traced to it in any way it would have actual career-impacting consequences.

oh! well, thats good! the augury said you guys mightve been in trouble and i was worried. you have to be safer than that, mr handsome, its dangerous out there. i put some fudge i made earlier in your mailbox? just in case you needed some.
hahaha, augury isnt a person! youre probably thinking of ailfiagh, one of our regulars. an augury is a type of compass you can use to find people if you know how to do it, so when you didnt show up i got really worried and i could use that to make sure you werent hurt or anything.
it probably would be good to wait until next weekend, though... i ought to be resting, so i wont be at quinns for a few days until i heal and all that. still think youre real handsome though so dont you forget that!!
Your fudge was a pleasant surprise when I got the mail at work. I had it for breakfast and it was very nice. Thank you.
Oh yes, Ailfiagh. I'm not sure I understand but don't worry, everything was fine.
Are you all right? Did something happen? Please rest and take care of yourself.

Stop, you—you can't say things like that. You don't understand. He's—he was a man of few words. If you knew him so well I'd think you would have known that. It was an honour that my father was chosen for the study tour. He left to do a service to the Empire and to provide for his family. My father did not fail me. He did not.
I can't believe I'm actually asking this, but why did you punch your killer in the afterlife?
Anonymous-
The only things I knew about Kazuma Asogi before Lord Stronghart used his existence as blackmail against my best friend were his name, and that he was doing well in his studies.
Given that Detective Asogi had once offhandedly mentioned that one of his apprentices had taken the name of his katana for their own, I assumed 'Kazuma' was the name of the aforementioned apprentice. We had been close friends and colleagues for six years, and penpals before that, and he had never once mentioned to me a wife or child.
Had I known he'd had a son, I likely would have endeavoured to allow his son to accompany him to England. Instead, I found out six years after he'd left him on the other side of the world, too late for either of us to do any right by him at all. The man we now call Prosecutor Asogi might have grown up in both England and Japan, and I might have answered to Uncle Klint when he called, as I was hoping to for the Lady Mikotoba.
Of course I punched Detective Asogi the moment he arrived in the afterlife. We both failed his son, and deeply so. Perhaps we wouldn't have, if he'd ever allowed either of us the chance to do better.
Yours in vindication,
Prosecutor van Zieks

Well, you're obviously lying because that little trickster would never call me "Kazuma".
if ya see the boss.... please tell 'im i got our best dees on it!! e dont need to worry..... i got this!!!! i... i can fix it...!!! - @inspector-gina-lestrade
Inspector Lestrade,
Is that what all this racket's about? Prosecutor Asogi's little winged beast has been scampering from one side of the afterlife to the other about something lost and stolen. Is it truly just the pocketwatch?
I saw that you have the candle. I wouldn't let go of it once this is done, if I were you. I believe my brother still has my own, from so long ago...

So you did steal the watch but you didn't mean to hurt anyone? Is that how you justified your murders?
[As you turn to follow the wisp out of the other side of the graveyard, the candle flares up, brightly, suddenly pointing to a third path, deeper into the graveyard. There are now three paths to follow: the wisp back the way you came, the wisp deeper in, or the candle's flame.] 🌠
wot??? wh-where are we s'posed to go then...??

My father did not fail me. It was not his fault that he never came home. You have no right to speak ill of him.

Your insinuations are wildly inappropriate and disrespectful to the man you keep insisting is your "best friend".
I'm sorry, did you say that after Detective Asogi closed your eyes and before he sang you off to your death, you felt "something wet across your forehead and mouth"?? Forgive me if this is presumptuous to say, my lord, but that does not bring to my mind the image of his tears landing on you. That sounds to me rather like he kissed you. I couldn't confidently say that must be what happened, of course, as I am not the man himself, but...perhaps he was even more open with you in what he believed to be your final moments together than you already knew.
Anonymous-
I wouldn't know. My eyes were closed, and I felt little more than his hand around mine and the sword in my sternum. For all I know, neither happened, and my traitorous mind opted instead to delve into dreams instead of allowing me what final sensations could still be gathered from the world of the living.
If he were to kiss anyone, I would have expected it to have been the Lady Ariadne, who professed to believe in romance; perhaps Mr. Jigoku, who could flirt with a post if it was dared of him; or better yet, his wife. Another piece of evidence that 'romance' is nothing more than an elaborate prank, although admittedly one I did not expect Detective Asogi to join in on. I confess, I grow tired of it.
Yours in confused vexation,
Prosecutor van Zieks
