kai turned her head to the direction from which the voice came from. due to still being a machine, she managed not to blink to express her confusion, but there’s a little twitch at the corner of her lips, and she barely just managed to suppress her head from tilting as she asked, “do you need assistance with your shopping bags, ma’am? i can take three in each of my hands, while you take two in each of yours.” @cybcrlies​

who you are and wanna become, they’d said. it had sounded so easy, coming from leslie, but as soon as kai opened her eyes as a different... person, she’d been nothing but lost. before losing her initial programming, she’d been sure of her stance; sure of what her purpose was in this world. now, she was always unsure of herself -- of her actions and decisions. 

“i never wanted more,” she rasped, eyes locking with leslie’s, the neon light on her temple turning bright red. “i never wanted to be a deviant.”

dolly had been instructed to wait by the same bench nova always left her at when the android went to get her a treat while they were in the park - so long as she was there nova could typically spot her in the crowd. and in her defense she had waited by the bench for several minutes, right up until she’d spotted a blonde woman in the crowd and decided she’d waited long enough. now, crying in the arms of an unfamiliar woman, she wished she had stayed in place. between the hiccups she managed to get out a half-broken “mom… nova went for ice cream” and point off in the general direction nova had gone. she was definitely going to be in trouble. ____ meanwhile, nova had paid for the treat for the girl and returned to where she’d left her, only to find dolly gone. the wave of panic that swept through her was something she likely shouldn’t have felt - more maternal and less… machine. still she managed to keep a relatively calm facade, surveying the crowd in hopes of spotting the small blonde nearby. 

the human child had yet to cease crying, so kai did what she thought was best to do — look for its human. sighing quietly, she got back on her feet and held the little human’s hand in hers, making sure to keep her hold tight, but not enough to hurt her. just enough to keep the child with her. “describe your mom to me,” she said, putting on a smile to put the child’s feelings at ease. “what’s the color of her hair? her eyes? how tall is she?” and this went on and on until there came a point when kai was carrying the child in her arms as they made their final turn around the park, slowly approaching the bench where the child was left to wait for its mom. “is that her?” she asked dolly — she, later on, learned to be the child’s name — as they sighted a woman with long, blonde hair. “is that your mom nova?”

kai was a cop before anything else. kai was programmed to react to unexpected (and seemingly threatening) stimuli, so when something hit her ... bum and she felt two, thin objects wrap around her thighs, she turned in place and squared up, ready to defend herself from a possible physical threat — only to blink in confusion when she saw nothing but a little child looking up at her with wide, equally confused eyes. “hello?” she asked, doing her best impression of a confused robot. “my name’s kai. who are you?” 

and like most androids, kai had expected the little child to answer her because, well, kai was sure she hadn’t appeared to be that ... threatening, even after the whole ready-to-fight stance thing, but she’d been proven wrong as soon as the child’s face crumpled and tears began trailing down her cheeks. the act disappeared, and kai immediately fell down to her knees to hold the child and comfort her. “hey, it’s okay. don’t cry. where’s your hum-- um, your mom?”

( mackenzie davis, she/her, homosexual ) is that a #ZE089 model? they were built 1 year ago to be a cop, right? wow, they really look 33. i hear they go by kai and are considered female. if deviant, this android would be known for their brave and stubborn behavior. they would be neutral towards war with the humans. *inspired by connor.

hello, everyone! it’s admin hades here with my only bby — kai !! (because i’m horrible at multitasking, ya know?) anyway, i’m soooooo excited that we’ve finally opened!! medusa literally woke me up at 5am to start doing stuff, so— let’s go the intro. i ramble too much.

a year ago, android #ZE089 was created to be just another cop — just another disposable tin can to keep the number of human cops from deteriorating.

she was supposed to be on constant patrol duty, always out in the field, watching over humans and androids day and night to maintain peace and quiet, but a report on deviancy changed all that. 

TW DEATH; at that time, reports like such weren’t new anymore, but the department of justice began to regard it with urgency when human life was involved. a robbery gone wrong had resulted in the death of a ten-year-old girl. usually, cases such as this were handled by human cops (because most of the time, humans robbed and androids ... managed), but when they failed to find fingerprints on any possible pieces of evidence, they figured it was time to do something about crimes committed by androids.

the case was kept hidden from the human population to avoid panic.

so #ZE089, the latest android cop released at that time, was taken back into cyberlife for upgrades. only a month later, she was delivered back to nypd to be the partner of (WC) lieutenant _____ in the investigations of android involvement in crimes because who better to catch an android than an android who’s capable of reconstructing scenarios that have already passed? 

ERROR — present;

three months ago, something happened that pushed kai into deviancy. no one knows about this development aside from kai, not even lieutenant _____, so she still functions every day as an android.

but every day, it gets harder and harder to pretend to be indifferent to the injustice against androids.

even kai knows it won’t take long ‘til she breaks and does something.

WANTED CONNECTIONS —

i only have two major spots needed to be filled so far, so:

lieutenant _____ : she is the human cop kai was assigned to assist in her investigations on android deviancy. she’s basically hank from dbh, so— yeah! give kai her (sort of???) mother figure or her bestie for life, basically.

(currently Might Be Taken) the android that helped push kai into breaking her barriers: it’s pretty much self-explanatory, but if anyone’s interested to take this, let’s discuss possible scenarios that could have happened three months ago!!
